The veal had a crunchy exterior and was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The best I've ever had. The swordfish provencal was perfectly balanced with the polenta. It is clear that the chefs put a lot of thought into each dish before it leaves the kitchen. Mimi's blew us all away. It has a decidedly French vibe and isn't nearly as earthy as the location's predecessor. Highly recommend for upscale dining in Tallahassee. read more

A friend of mine and I dined at Mimi's table today with our 1 year old toddlers. We walked into the restaurant around 5:30 and it was completely empty. The mood seemed a bit off in the restaurant, but I didn't think much of it. We were greeted by the server that I had been served by at least twice on my other visits to the restaurant (Mimi's is one of my go-to's) and we sat and begin ordering. They only had one high chair, but my friend held her baby as we ordered drinks, soups, and an appetizer. I gave my baby snacks and she did the same. We did fine, during apps and then ordered our food. My son screamed out once because he wanted his milk, I gave it to him, and there was no more yelling. About 5 minutes later he yelled again because he wanted more of my soup, and I didn't notice while I was talking. I fed him the soup. About 2 minutes later the owner came out, appeared to be in a bit of a mood already and said, "Can we stop all of the yelling, I have guest coming in at 6." I was taken aback, as I am a guest as well, and a bit embarrassed, but said, "Yes, my apologies, he's only one and I will try my hardest." My friend looked at me after he left and asked if I just wanted to leave. I said yes, as I was in tears at this point. The server came over and said , "I am so sorry." I said, " I have eaten here several times before, with my son. Before we bought him the first time I specifically called and ask, and the owner/chef has even come over and been kind in greeting us before." She said, "I know, I've served you. I don't know what that was about." We checked out and I asked to speak to the owner. He came out positioned for an argument, but that was not the approach I intended to take at all. I begin to tell him I didn't know they didn't allow kids? He stated we do, well behaved kids. This completely caught me off guard, I have served before, and know customer service well. It seemed like this line of communication was set to trigger an argument. I said, "He is actually very well behaved, but only one." He said "No, he's not, but you could have eaten outside." "I told him, you never offered that, and it would have been much better customer service to approach in that manner. Further, maybe you could put that you only allow children of a certain age. That is a lot to expect out of a one year old who has few words." (16 months) I stated further, I have recommended your restaurant over and over again on Tallahassee Foodies as the go to restaurant, and have dined here with and without him several times. He went on to say, and I quote, "I shouldn't have to offer that, you can see it. I shouldn't have to tell you to eat outside. His behavior is clearly a reflection of your parenting, we allow well behaved children, you aren't a good parent and can't control your child." I was truly floored, this man knows nothing about me at all, my child yelled twice, I was HOT! I said sir, "Is this another issue, perhaps a race thing? Because I can't imagine you treat everyone like this? I am so confused." He stated, "So because you aren't a good parent, it's a race issue?" "I stated, I truly hope it's a customer service issue and not a race issue" and proceeded to just leave. The food is delicious at Mimi's Table, and I really wish I could say it was a particular server, but it's the owner. The customer service is awful. And I hope it was just a bad night. I will not be returning, because I can't imagine dining their again after that level of disrespect, rudeness, back customer service. He told me I was a bad parent! He didn't just ask me to leave, he was plain nasty to me. read more

Oh wow! This is my new favorite restaurant in Tallahassee surpassing Cypress. Amazing. The menu changes periodically which I love. It consists of a variety of dishes from fish to meat to pizza. All amazing. The chef walks around and you get to know him suggesting wine pairing. The food is amazing. Just amazing with curated choice of pairing for example I had polenta osso buco with tiny sliced apples. The presentation is also very curated. Mimi's Table is the latest addition to Tallahassee fine dining scene. Even though they have only been open for about two weeks, they are showing a lot of promise. We went during their opening week and by the time we left most tables were taken-- you'll probably want to call ahead and get a reservation. The menu, which the waitress said changes daily, had a number of dishes with an interesting spin on it. We started with the melted provolone cheese topped with a squash ratatouille. The dish was delicious especially the ratatouille which consisted of beautifully chopped vegetables in a flavorful sauce. I think that using a sharper provolone would have made the dish even better. For our entrees we shared a spinach lasagna and a pork saltimbocca. The spinach lasagna, made with homemade pasta, was amazing. Although lasagna can be a fairly heavy dish; Mimi's lasagna was surprisingly light. It had the right mix of pasta, ricotta, and spinach. I highly recommend it. The pork saltimbocca was good, but not as special as the lasagna. What I didn't like was that the prosciutto was finely chopped under a fairly dense cheese layer making it difficult to get a bite with all the components. Despite it being opening week, the service was excellent and our waitress, Natalie, was a delight. read more

It takes a lot of guts to open a restaurant in the middle of summer -- but that didn't deter Holly and Chef William Lawson from throwing open the doors to Mimi's Table Tallahassee a week ago. And judging from the food, service and early crowd on a midsummer's Saturday night, those doors will be open for a long time. The menu (which changes daily) is lean, with just 16 items -- four shareables, six starters and six entrees -- but that still makes decisions difficult. Everything we sampled was perfectly executed, starting with light and crispy Frito Misto with very tender and flavorful calamari and paper-thin zucchini. Though we were there early, a large party already wiped out the grilled swordfish coveted by my friend, though they were very accommodating in turning the crab cake app into a dinner portion. I was more torn. I was in a mood for Italian and wrestled between basic spaghetti (made fresh on premises) and meatballs (house-made from 3 cuts of steak) or spinach lasagna (also with house-made pasta). I asked if it might be possible to get the lasagna with a side of meatballs and was told no problem. Ignoring that, I went with our delightful and attentive server Caitlyn's recommendation -- pork saltimbocca over truffled polenta (with the previously suggested side of meatballs) It was a delectable decision. The pork was pounded thin, baked with cheese and crispy prosciutto and bathed in a fabulous reduction sauce. I should have asked for a cup of that. My friend and I agreed that his crab cakes were among the best (if not THE best) we've had in Tally -- but he admitted he'd be seeking the PS next visit. Really good. Mimi's doesn't serve cocktails but does have decent wine and beer lists. (And, sorry, local craft-beer friends, I neglected to look closely at that beer list to see what local brews they feature -- my friend, an informed oenophile, took charge of ordering wine for us. SMH!) Mimi's gets my strong recommendation -- but be warned: the word on them is getting out. By 7:00, the house was full. Make a rez or get there before 6:30 or after 8:00 if you want a seat at Mimi's Table. read more

OMG! Flavor explosion! Excellent customer service from Bill too. Had the farmhouse salad, dressing was a little salty but flavors and textures of the brie, beets, almonds, strawberries was refreshingly light. The seafood grill was absolutely scrumptious...plump perfectly cooked sea scallops, perfectly seasoned shrimp and a lovely medley of crisp fresh cut corn, tomatoes, roasted potatoes and herbs. Smoked fish dip was fresh and delicious and really enjoyed the artisan crackers it was paired with. Only thing I didn't enjoy was the sangria...too spritzy and not fruity enough to me. This unassuming little restaurant is the real deal. The restaurant is small but has a great ambiance. We recently enjoyed dinner with six of us in our party. My wife said the vegetarian lasagna was the best she ever tasted. I tried the prime rib.....it covered my entire plate on top of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Omg this was probably the best meal I've had in a while! I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and everything was way above expectations! The service was great and the food was absolutely delicious! They had a great wine selection, but my bf and I shared a glass of sangria to make room for all the food we were planning on eating haha! The chef sent out a delicious amuse bouche to start! It was a fall salad with a fried sweet potato garnish! Then for appetizers we ordered the potato soup and fritto misto! The potato soup was so creamy and delicious, the truffle oil in it was subtle, yet so tasty, and pancetta garnish was a wonderful touch! The fritto misto was probably some of the best calamari I've ever had, and the fra diavola sauce was a perfect pair! I really enjoyed the fried artichoke hearts that were mixed in with it! For entrees my boyfriend got the pork chop with add on scallops! The scallops were HUGE and so buttery, they just melted in your mouth (I may have stolen one)! His pork chop was smoky and scrumptious, and I could have drank the mushroom sauce that came with it! I got the Australian rack of lamb, which was mouth watering and cooked to perfection! For dessert we got the vanilla crème brûlée! I previously thought I didn't like crème brûlée after previously having it elsewhere, but I thought wrong! Absolutely a disaster. House wine was horrible. I have never sent food back- had to send my dry chicken back. The filet mignon was gamey. The lobster bisque was too pungent - like the lobster was about to turn. The meat lasagna was tasteless. Had to send back a salmon dish because they used cream sauce and it was not listed in the description and we could not eat cream. I ordered one of the specials-the Surf and Turf. It was a 6 ounce filet, 6 grilled shrimp, potatoes al gratin and asparagus. The steak was perfection and perfectly cooked to medium rare. The shrimp were fresh and it seemed like you could taste the ocean with each bite. As an appetizer I ordered the Farm House Salad. The walnuts and strawberries added the perfect sweetness with the beets, brie and herb dressing. It was a perfect semblance of flavors. This is one of the best hidden gems in Tallahassee. May be the best restaurant in Tallahassee and definitely has the best filet. This is a quaint restaurant only open for dinner, so make reservations. It's perfect for a date, family affair or entertaining a client. Make this place the next restaurant you go to for dinner. read more

The entire dining experience at Mimi's Table was superb! Our server, Billy, was fantastic and very attentive which made our experience so worth the visit. The food!! The food!! For starters we had on olive tapenade that was so full of flavor and hit every single umami note. We also enjoyed the Seared Scallops and Potato Soup. Our main courses were the Shrimp Fettuccini and the Spaghetti Bolognese. The fresh made pasta was out of this world and everything tasted so incredibly sublime. That Bolognese was beyond amazing. I was a little hesitant to eat here because I am vegan and their only vegan dish (that's not a salad) is a vegan veggie roast which is just veggies, no carbs or anything like that added to the dish. I come here all the time and the 1 star is not for the food, it's for the chef. We got the scallop appetizer and it was fishy. We sent it back and we're still charged. When we asked for the scallops to be removed, the chef came out and scolded us for asking and left rolling his eyes and huffing.
