I walked in the door expecting a very homey feel and I had a wonderful welcome to my first experience, very promptly I might add. Brandon, my server, was at the counter and rushing to finish his prep work for lunch but set it aside, took my order, made my hot chocolate, and brought me the things I wanted. We tried this place out after hearing from a few people that it was a great place. Quickly put, our table was not bussed to cleanliness. Sure the plates were gone but the table hadn't been wiped down. The silverware looked as if it had been ran under water and set out to dry. The food was average but overpriced. Hostess decided that taking a call was more important than us. The call was ringing when we came in, she picked it up and kinda just ignored us. I wanted to leave them but we were hungry. The other day my gal and I went for some dinner here after doing some shopping. I'm glad we did. Though the charm of the restaurant was stilted, the food and service were not. I ordered a burger and my gal ordered mac 'n cheese. My burger was slightly pink inside, which I do not like but it was very tasty and I am not usually one to complain about or send back anything, so I sucked it up and ate it. I used to love this Mimi's, but this is the last time I will visit this place & I will make sure my family, friends, & clients avoid this establishment. I was here w/my husband; we were seated in front of the coffee bar, & we could easily hear & see the ruckus with all the servers, cooks, & even the manager. They were rowdy, foul mouthed, & it was very unprofessional behavior for a mid-level restaurant. We had to send back out shrimp, because it was raw. Then the waitress drops off our check just as we began eating our dinner, as if they're trying to rush us out of there. She comes back within minutes to see if we had placed a credit card in the check holder without bothering to ask if we would like dessert. The only reason why I give this place 2 stars is because our food was delicious but not enough to EVER come back. I have been twice in the past year and both times, the food really let me down. My problem is I remember going here over the years and loving the entrees. So I told myself the last time that it was an off night but after today, I need to accept reality. We used to have family gatherings here because it was comfort-food heaven. Now food looks manufactured. The meatloaf is a dark brown slice of ground meat that's overseasoned (do the cooks even taste it?), and the exact oval shape suggests it came straight out of the freezer into the microwave. The turkey plate was 2 identical pressed slices of turkey topped with gravy, the dressing mushy and the mashed potatoes no longer even warm. No option to order sweet potatoes. But the biggest disappointment was no more bread baskets! When I asked about it halfway through our meal, the server brought three tough slices of French bread with a margarine spread. She couldn't say why no more cornbread and muffins like they used to include as part of the meal (as it was her first week). Service was super slow, had to wait 15 minutes to get water. I don't know what's happened, Mimi's, but now, I have to eat my words and look elsewhere for the comfort food we enjoyed there in the past. read more

They offer an awesome selection of crepes, my personal favorite is the ham and swiss with brie. They even have all the favorites from chicken fried steak to chicken and waffles. Today met dear friends for what was to be a delightful and scrumptious Sunday brunch. The Service was attentive and pleasant. Our order of Eggs Benedict andChicken and Waffle took 37 minutes to reach our table! The Eggs Benedict was horrifically over cooked, We counter the cubed hash browns ... 23, insult to injury, cold! The Chicken and Waffles also arrive cold and the chicken was so dry that it must have been frozen and microwaved prior to service. All in all a "HUGE" disappointment. I always go for breakfast. I have never had a problem with the food. I went for lunch and it was bad. I was served a cup of french onion soup with a piece of burnt black toast in it. We recommend avoiding Mimi's for breakfast. Our hopes were high because we've had good evening meals at Mimi's in Sandy. We walked in the door and waited 5 minutes before anybody noticed we were there (we should have hightailed it across the parking lot to I-Hop at that point). Eventually got seated and served lukewarm coffee. Tried 3 cups, all lukewarm. I had the caprese omelet which (except for the fresh mozzarella) tasted like...nothing. It didn't taste bad, it just didn't have any flavor whatsoever. Ingredients promised on the menu weren't in the omelet. There are a couple upsides: Our waitperson was helpful and friendly. We had a lovely dinner at Mimi's, I had the meatloaf which was delicious! The recipe is much better than it used to be, and the green beans were so tasty! The chicken cheddar mac is a dish not to be missed, and the French Pot Roast is another favorite of mine. I honestly don't understand the bad reviews! We have been here several times and we love it. This is the place I take someone for breakfast when I want to impress. The atmosphere and ambiance is so nice and love the fireplace. We always have had good service here. The breakfast is above average, the country potatoes are awesome and I love the side choices they give you. I always get one of their delicious homemade muffins, which you can also buy there. A long time customer for years but only go once or twice a year. Generally speaking the food and service is good in my experience. My wife developed celiac disease last year and we recently went back for the first time since then. She has to give the wait person specific instructions in order to get her meal cooked gluten free. She asked for her entree to be cooked in a separate skillet so that it would not be contaminated from the main grill with gluten. The waitress said no problem. Later in the day my wife got very sick leading her to believe that in fact it was not cooked separately but on the main grill. Both my daughter and I were fine so I don't believe it was food poisoning. So somewhere there was a breakdown with either the instructions (or lack of) the waitress gave the kitchen or what the kitchen actually did. Unfortunately we won't be going back. read more

I love Mimi's Cafe. My only complaint is how LOUD it is when they are busy. I love the honey bran muffin-yes I know, it has bran, but it is SO delicious! I also love the East Coast Reuben and really should venture out on trying something different but I usually get that! I recently went here and had the pot roast as I have a number of times in the past. This time I wasn't very impressed, the piece of meat was a smaller portion than in the past and was very fatty. I went to Mimi's last night. I haven't been there in about a year. I used to love Mimi's and now I will never go there again. Our server was really nice and I've always experienced quality service at Mimi's. However, they changed their menu and have completely gone downhill with quality and uphill with price. They used to have a really good deal for a soup or salad, main and dessert for about $10. You can still get a soup or salad and a main for about $10, but no dessert. The chicken crepe used to be my favorite. Last night, I had the crepe and Caesar salad. My thought was how in the world can you go wrong with salad? There was way too much sauce on the salad. There was sauce for the crepe, but I had no idea there was already sauce inside the crepe. The crepe was soggy and there was no flavor to anything. Such a disappointment. My boyfriend and I have dined at this particular location multiple times before, however the day after Halloween gave us the worst experience we have ever had eating here. I ordered a mocha, and received a latte. I pointed out the mistake, and in return received a second latte with a giant sludge of Hershey's chocolate syrup at the bottom. I couldn't even stomach it, and the "corrected" mocha remained untouched for the rest of the breakfast. After that the food came out separately. My boyfriend received his food in about 30-40 minutes whereas I received my food in around 50-60 minutes. This was after our server had informed us it would only be a 15 minute wait time to get our food. I had to sit and watch my boyfriend finish his food, then he in return had to wait for me to eat mine. My boyfriend only received a portion of his food. He ordered an omelette that came with toast the toast remained MIA. I requested a box and never got it even after paying, at which point I had to request another. The food we received wasn't terrible, but it was clearly rushed. It's clear a lack of staff, and training is holding this location back. I'll continue to dine at other Mimi's for my Sunday breakfast fix, but this is the last time we will come to this particular location. read more
