Sitting here currently with a group of 13. After waiting to be sat it has taken 20 minutes to get waters on the table and we are still waiting on our bar drinks. They've been sitting at the end of the bar for 10+ minutes. Clearly no team work or management present at this location. I hate to think how thing it will take to get our food and checks at the end. Maybe they should've put 2 servers on our party? Just a suggestion. read more

Family really enjoyed the Breakfast. We thought the food and Service was Good. Was able to get right in on a busy weekend morning.

Was in the area one morning and decided to give Mimi's a try. Have to say I was impressed. Jenna, our waitress, was friendly and attentive. I had the turkey crepe with potatoes. It was delicious! Coffee was good too. A return visit will definitely be on my "to do" list. read more

Initial thoughts on arrival were pretty good. Ordered drinks. Waiter said he would be back with bread. Came back with drinks, no bread. We asked for the bread twice before he brought it. Not a big issue, just documenting the visit. I ordered the roasted half chicken. When it arrived, I cut into the breast. It was pink. I carved down to the bone and it got darker red. The bird was half raw. Checked a few other spots same. My family's meals looked fine. I ordered a simple burger thinking they couldn't mess that up. Well. The family finished their meals. Tables that orderd after I ordered the burger were boxing up thier left overs and my burger was still MIA. Eventually they said it was coming up next. I opted to take it to go since the fam was truly ready to go. And I was wrong, they could mess up a burger. It went to the trash. read more

Just returned from a very disappointing Mother's Day visit to the Murfreesboro, TN Mimi's Cafe. We were seated after waiting maybe five minutes with no hostess in sight, and given "Mother'sDay" three course menus. 20 minutes or so later a server appeared. I ordered drinks and asked if the regular menu was available. She said it depended what I was wanting and brought us one. I ordered drinks and she offered to bring bread, which came out with drinks. My 88-year-old Mom wanted to go somewhere with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, which was on the 3-course menu. We both ordered that and I ordered salad while Mom ordered corn chowder. Server brought out 2sslads, asking if that's what we ordered. Once she got her corn chowder, she enjoyed it. The dear girl, who we later learned was new, as I had suspected, kept telling us our food would be tight out. 45 minutes after ordering I flagged down a waiter who said he would go look for our meals. Our server came back and asked if I had ordered the macaroni and cheese. I said no, we both ordered the turkey. About 10 minutes later our server returned to tell us they were out of turkey. I'm pretty sure a couple seated diagonal from us after we had been there were brought turkey dinners about 30 minutes prior to this. There was also very loud table bussing happening behind us and loud chit-chat and arguing between waitstaff. We said we would just leave as we had now been there what seemed like forever. She offered to bring us muffins and did so. We were charged $7.22 for two iced teas. Another female server apologized explaining the girl was new and was very upset. I explained to her that we had ordered mire than 45 minutes prior to bring told they funny have turkey and she sad oh, no, I thought you had just been seated?. She also offered to bring muffins did I suggested maybe some croissants as I have never tried them. She brought a few more muffins and no croissants and collected payment for our drinks. I gave the sad original server a $2 tip, grabbed our bag of muffins send left. So much for my Mom and I having a nice dinner together on Mother's Day! I'd really like to give this zero stars. read more

I've been to Mimi's many times both here and in Southern CA,. The food is always fresh and good, their servers are very well trained and attentive, and the menu is terrific. My negative thought here in town is that the sound-proofing needs to be much better. It gets too loud to talk comfortably. Otherwise, I really like Mimi's. read more

Overcooked chicken. Overcooked waffles. Overcooked chips. We waited nearly 30 minutes for terrible food.

I have really tried to like this restaurant but after my 4th visit I will never go back. Do not waste your time or money. The service here is horrible. It is truly a shame because the menu is actually appealing. I kept thinking it was just a bad day for the staff with prior visits but I have concluded the management is terrible. The waiter we had needs to pursue a different career, much like the ones I have had before there. We waited over an hour for our food and there were only 7 tables of customers in the entire restaurant with plenty of staff. The food was cold, orders were wrong and drinks were not refilled. Everyone else in the restaurant looked disgusted as well. No manager in sight. read more

I am in love with Mimi's Cafe in Dallas. But here, I was appalled at how low quality the service was. I was served by Lindsey who, bless her heart, did her best but the quiche was horribly frigid. I then asked to speak with the manager simply because I wanted to get an application for my daughter but I guess they thought I was going to complain? The manager, Phillip Grassi, proceeded to my table and was incredibly rude to me and suggested I leave if the food was bad. Mind you I was not going to say anything about the food except to the server but I was more so making an observation, because I enjoyed the quiche just not Phillip read more

My wife and I arrived and were advised that their were no tables available but only booths to be seated in. I looked around and their were unseated tables available. I am a military veteran and due to injuries, I can only sit at a table but were advised that could not help us. What angered me was that the manager was right their with the hostess and made no effort to assist us in any way not even n apology, so we left the restaurant and drove back to Smyrna, Tn. Sad day for MImi's Cafe and their Quality Control Management Operations. We left with not fefling welcome. read more

I have frequented this restaurant many times with family. After our experience yesterday I will never return. The restaurant was not crowded even though it was lunchtime. We waited over 40 minutes for sandwiches and an omelet. My grandson ordered from the kids menu. The server came once to say they had to cook the chicken for the chicken salad. I will say I don't mind waiting but he seemed to avoid us and we thought there must have been a mixup. He delivered the food finally and we discovered the two chicken salad on croissants were not edible and the croissants were hard as the plate. A tiny bit of chicken salad and a large leaf of lettuce was unexpected as well! For $8.79? When he came later to ask how everything was I told him it was unacceptable and the croissants were untouched because they were hard as the plates. He didn't seem to know what to do and a lady came over to tell us she deducted something off our bill. He delivered the bill and $7.00 was deducted. She determined $3.50 each was enough for our experience and nothing to eat other than a few grapes and 2 bites of chicken. Everyone has an off day. No one or nothing in our world is perfect. But how you treat people in the service industry is key and when I left with my family I knew the people there could have cared less. read more

One of the worst steaks I have ever had. Tough (although cooked to medium like I requested). Gristles and hard fat all throughout. The only reason it had any taste was because of the herb butter they seem to put on everything. Most of the entrees come with fries that are similar to Steak n Steaks but much more expensive. Everyone around us was brought a basket of bread but we never received any. VERY overpriced. This use to be a nice place to go; not anymore. I will never go back. read more

Arrived at 11:45 a.m. and by 12:30 p.m. our food had STILL NOT arrived. Had to leave and cancel our order to return to work. It was not at all crowded there and there were only 5 of us ordering off the lunch half sandwich/half soup menu. What's up with Mimi's service!!! read more

My wife went to Mimi's for coffee and cheese cake. The first thing that went wrong was they served her water in a broken glass, once it finally got there. After she ordered a hot cappuccino she got an iced drink. When she finally got her cappuccino it was terribly made. Then she had to ask for a napkin and utensils. She received a paper towel versus a cloth napkin. The manager, which was poorly dressed, did nothing more than cover the tap. Then she had to go inside, she was sitting outside, to get a to go box for the remainder of her cheese cake. We will never go to Mimi's again. Terrible restaurant. Only gave them one star because I had no choice. read more

Mimi's is not a place I would go out of my way to eat at but they are one of the few restaurants near my work that takes reservations and has a more private room for our meetings. We've had two separate meetings here within the last month, each with at least eight in our party. Both visits they were not ready for our arrival although we had reservations; which left us standing awkwardly by the host stand for a good amount of time. There were a few occasions on each visit we had to seek out an employee to be seated/order additional items. During the first visit our server was new and you could tell she was really struggling with a larger group. Last night we had a wonderful server, whose name I am forgetting (I apologize), who was not only attentive but well informed as well. She's the main reason I'm giving three stars, as most other aspects of the visits were mediocre. The food is okay, I've had the pot pie and the chicken crepes. The crepes were quite good but the sauce served with them left me feeling nauseous after the meal. Maybe it was just an overabundance of onion/garlic flavor, which left it quite pungent. The pot pie was good overall and it was popular amongst my coworkers. Overall, I see myself returning to this Mimi's with work functions and possibly if I was really seeking something different for dinner. However, as I've said, it's not somewhere to go out of your way for. read more

Where to start. Sat down and our waiter introduced himself, we ordered drinks. He came back 15 minutes later and introduced himself again and took our drink order again (like he was never there the first time). We were there for 2 1/2 hours total. We had to little kids with us who were hungry so we kept asking for bread and the waiter said well I'll have to check I don't think we have any. The table next to us got bread shortly after and he came back to our table and said we didn't have any bread and handed us a package of crackers. 2 crackers for 2 kids. The whole 2 1/2 hours we were there we had our drinks refilled once and it was because we had to ask multiple times. We got our food about 2 hours in. 2/4 orders weren't right. It was all cold. Side items missing. Waiter came by when it was time for the check and became really nice all of a sudden and asked if we wanted bread. There were 5 occupied tables in the restaurant with about 6 servers. No excuse for any of it. I could have gone to the store, driven home, cooked my meal, and taken a nap in the time that we were there. Nothing was comped. No manager was there. Nothing. The worst dining experience I've had. I've been here 3 times in 2 years and the service has been awful every single time. Awful. read more

Decided to try Mimi's after hearing positive reviews from several people, could have had a better experience. Since this was our first visit, my girlfriend and I just went with the usual breakfast staples; I had scrambled eggs, sausage, and pancakes, and she had eggs and toast. The coffee was brought out to us in white mugs that were extremely stained on the outside as if they hadn't been washed, very surprised that they made it to the table in that condition considering you would expect the waitress to notice something like that. Our food arrived and we started to dig in, the pancakes were pretty good so I made quick work of them. Moved on to the eggs; after two bites of eggs I noticed a hair sticking out of the center of them. Needless to say, that was the end of my dining experience there. The staff was apologetic and quick to bring out a new plate for me and comped our entire meal, even throwing in some extra muffins. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying their food so maybe it was just poor luck on our part, but we won't be going back there soon. read more

Four of us ate late lunch there 09-08-2018 around 4p.m. One server on duty, a new server with no clue, one cook on duty, bartender left w/o telling anyone, and manager was AWOL. Only 3-4 tables occupied. I ordered a bloody mary - never came because the bartender had decided to leave without telling anyone and server never followed-up. I ordered a meal with two sides, one of the sides did not arrive until I tracked down the server and asked for it. Wife's pot pie so salty she could not finish it. Son took a long time before he could get a server to bring ketchup for his fries. His wife's second side didn't come until we again had to wave a server over and ask for it - we'd 99% finished eating at that point. WAY understaffed - no manager around - server did the best she could under very poor circumstances (not her fault). She did apologize and gave us 10% off mediocre, over-priced meals, which should have been the manager's role. read more

Was so excited to go to this establishment for the first time after reading reviews. The hubby and I chose to go there for date night. BIG MISTAKE! While the staff was friendly and the place was clean the food was terrible! The decor is a dated 80's Mardi Gra theme. There is low lighting and the place is quiet, which I love. They played light jazz which was also nice. The restroom was clean. Those are the only nice things I can say about this place. Now about the important part, the food. The waiter immediately brought a bread basket. In it was one French baguette cut in half. It was so hard you could not eat it. Also in the basket was a very sweet and moist bread that I think was a spice cake. I do not like spice cake but the hubby enjoyed it. I thought it was way too sweet to be served before dinner. It was more of an after dinner snack if you ask me. The hubby ordered the only steak on the menu. It cost $16.99. It came with Au gratin potato's, and fresh seasonal vegetables (steamed broccoli). He ordered the steak medium well, which is a think line of pink in the center. The steak was served well done. The steak was half the size of my palm and came out already cut into four slices that were 2 inches long. For the cost of the steak we expected a much larger steak. Not to mention the picture showed something different. The potato's were one scoop and tasted ok. The steamed broccoli was a small handful and like I said it was steamed. How can you mess that up? I tried to convince my husband to send the steak back since it was overcooked and dry but he refused. He never complains and refuses to send food back. He says that people are starving and he can't stand the fact of food going in the garbage. I ordered the turkey. It cost $12.99. Wasn't worth $1.99. Ended up sending it back and eating nothing. After two tastes of my food I again urged my husband to send his food back and for us to leave and go somewhere else where we could both eat decent food. Again he refused. My meal came out and by looking at it I should have known it was going to be a disaster. The three pieces of "turkey" were 1 inch in diameter and half circle shaped. Upon tasting it there was an immediate sour taste that I have never known for turkey. I smelled it and there was also a sour smell to it. The meal also came with potato's , stuffing, fresh vegetables (also steamed broccoli), and cranberry sauce. The potato's were one scoop of very stiff and dry of what I could only assume were instant potato's that could not be eaten. The stuffing was under the sour turkey and it looked like a pile of poop with green specs in it. The cranberry sauce came in a very small ramekin that had 1 tablespoon of cranberry sauce in it. There was a small handful of the steamed broccoli. Now I did not taste the cranberry sauce, broccoli or the stuffing so I can not comment on them. After the one taste of turkey and the one taste of the potato's I immediately informed the waiter that I could not eat the food. He apologized several times and sent over the manager. The manager apologized too. The manager also informed me that their turkey was roasted "fresh" daily on site. I do not believe that. In fact this comment from him was prompted by my question "Is this canned turkey?" I was actually reminded of spam by the turkey that I was served. Turkey spam that is. The smell, taste and shape of the so called "meat" was so similar to spam that it was funny. So needless to say we will never be returning to MiMi's Cafe. My husband ate a meal that was gone in less than 8 bites that was not cooked properly for $16.99 and a coke for $2.59 and I had a $2.59 sweet tea that was not sweet and very watered down. Thank goodness for sandwiches! That is what I ate when we returned home. And as sad as it may sound that sandwich tasted a thousand times better than any of the food that my husband or I were served. I think the good reviews of this establishment have been written by staff, owner, or family and friends of staff/owner. No wonder there were only two other tables of two there when we arrived and only one other table of two came in while we were there. It was a Sunday night at 5:00 during dinner hour so that tells you something. Do yourself a favor and don't waster your time or money going here!! read more

I think being given a salad In lieu of fruit, overcharged as an inconvenience to fix, and not bringing back a gift card with a remaining balance & receipt until asked for at the hostess desk & and then ending up with 2 bran muffins (which I found out later weren't even meant for ME but my co-diner since I'd ordered blueberry) I may not eat at Mimi's for a very very long time. I did not even get my paid receipt because my waitress said she threw it away. Sorry---it really would have been my last time, ever, but I was offered another entree for the future. I definitely felt "less than" with the waitress' attitude-- I was on her list of "let's ignore THIS person today." Basically, for $22.50 (incl tip) I got a small 1/2 sandwich & small bowl of soup with 2 sodas that were correct. Nothing else was right except for the buy-one-get one free coupon. I got a "free" small quiche to take home without ANY correct sides. However, My friend traded me fruit for the salad or NO sides would have been correct. read more

I had an AWFUL experience with the Mimi's Cafe in Murfreesboro, TN. I called a couple of days before to get a reservation but I was told that they weren't doing reservations even though it was a big holiday. They told me that they did a call ahead list and I should call on my way. I knew we would have to wait and I was fine with that. I have worked in the restaurant business so I know that on big holidays it can be crazy. I called 40 mins or so before and was told it would be an hour wait. When I got there I was told it would be two hours. When I asked why the wait had changed I was told it was because we were a large party???? There were 5 of us. I was fine with waiting but when I asked why the wait had fone from an hour to two the girl started talking to me like I was a complete idiot. Then another guy tried to say something and they were talking at the same time. The girl couldn't have been older than 17 and she was SOOOOOO RUDE!!!! Her name was danielle. She had a horrible attitude and acted like I was being completely unreasonable for even asking. She never once apologized for the confusion. When I said my party wasn't staying she had the nerve to say "good" as I walked away. I turned around and asked to talk with her manager and u would have thought I punched her in the face. Tears!!!! Really???? GROW UP!!! I never hired teenagers when I worked in the restaurant biz. This establishment needs a serious overhaul. It was awful. I just left and didn't even bother with the manager. He probably would have been a jerk too. I will NEVER go there again. I host girls night With about 10 women and Mimi's is a somewhere we often go. NOT ANYMORE!!!! I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. read more

i was really surprised that my party of seven had no wait on a friday night at 6, but after we left it was clearly understandable. my wife and i had been here several years ago and loved it, but that was then and this is now. our server was clearly new, and his lack of menu knowledge was a little disconcerting but not horrifying. he was nice enough, but after years in the restaurant industry, i can tell when someone just isn't cut out for that line of work. because of my experience, i tend to offer up a lot of grace when it comes to service. but this was just bad service, and the food didn't make up for it. i never got to try the appetizer we ordered, because it never came. but when our entrees finally came, my burger was overcooked, yet somehow it was still cold. my wife's salmon was undercooked. we would have happily told our server, but he didn't come by for another ten minutes or so. at that point, it turned into an experience that would only improve by ending, so we ate what we could and waited for the check. i thought it was odd that a manager never came by to check on us, especially if we were being left to such a green server. as we were leaving, i could see why. the manager was chatting it up with three other servers at one of the POS terminals. you would be better off eating at one of the many other choices at the avenue. heck, you'd be better off picking up some snacks and beer at World Market and sitting in the Mimi's parking lot watching the look of disappointment on people's faces as they leave. read more
