I don't believe they get recognized or appreciated as much as they should. Mimi's has been around a while but they have always been consistent to me--good food, good service and prices. When we went for Sunday brunch, it was busy like most other places but we were able to get seated right away compared to the 45min to hour wait at other restaurants. I love that their tables and booths are spacious and you are not sitting right up on the space of another party. As I said we went for brunch so we didn't even scan the lunch/dinner part of the menu this time but they have plenty of options available. I kept it simple with a egg, bacon and cheese croissant with potatoes. Hubs had the salmon omelette with potatoes and the carrot, nut raisin muffin. There wasn't any leftovers and we actually ordered muffins to go. Only added a little salt and pepper to the potatoes, everything else was seasoned well and tasty. They got way busier by the time we finished and people were waiting inside and outside for seating. So don't think this place isn't good, we just made good timing. read more

We've been here a total of five times. Three times we never got any food because they won't send anyone to take your order. We sat there 30 minutes the first two times, even after asking a hostess to find our waitress. We chalked it up to busy times and understaffing. This last time we gave up much quicker and won't be back. The servers just congregate around and talk and apparently take breaks all at the same time. Mimi's menu sounds wonderful. The photos and descriptions definitely tempt the appetite. HOWEVER, the food is NOT good. Eggs Benedict are watery with too little hollandaise sauce and soggy bread. Potatoes are rubbery and cold rather than hot and crispy outside with tender potato insides. The crème brûlée has a thin soft top that cannot crack properly. The French Dip was awful! Poor quality, chewy bread with nothing but deli meat from a package still folded as if no one could be bothered to separate the slices. The au jus was flavorless and cold. Doesn't a quiche or pot pie sound great? They are not. The crust on any pie product is soft and flexible on the sides and mushy on the bottom. It seems that a flaky crust is impossible in Mimi's kitchen. The omelets are tough on the outside. The food is almost always too cold and warmed- over tasting. The apple desert is almost ok but, again the crust is just not acceptable. A side of cinnamon apples did taste nice but I paid $4. for three bites of apple. We have tried many times to give Mimi's an opportunity to live up to their menu's promises. They just can't seem to do it. It's a nice place. The restaurant could be packed with diners if only the food was prepared properly. We kept going back because we convinced ourselves that the bad food was a fluke each time, next time it would be as good as it sounded. We have now given up. We will not return unless we hear that there is a new chef. We want to have the food that is on the menu, prepared with skill. Please Mimi's, think of your customers and imagine the great restaurant you could be. Find a cook who cares what the customer eats. Find a chef who can properly prepare food for people who pay to eat it. Thanks to the kind servers and hostesses and the bar staff. And thank you to all those who work in the kitchen and don't have anything to do with the food preparation. read more

The owner should just close down this place. We normally go there for breakfast and my fiancé wanted to try dinner so we went around 6 o'clock Sunday night. When we first arrived there were only two guests in the dining room. I ordered the French onion soup and the bread in it was big and hard that I couldn't even bite into it. The lettuce in the house salad were stinky so we sent it back and asked for a Caesar instead, but then the romaine lettuce was the same way when it came out. The potatoes which were I guess homestyle fried potatoes were cold and stale, and they obviously had been sitting under a light for a while. I won't go back. We enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch at Mimi's Cafe. I was a bit disappointed however at the fact that the muffins were so much smaller. I used to love getting that huge carrot muffin with my meal. I was pleasantly surprised when entering as I'm terrified to eat out during the pandemic... this being the second time in just over a month while out with my auntie and uncle for medical stuff. Auntie and I both had doctor appointments in Murfreesboro and they decided Mimi's would be a good place to eat as they had enjoyed it in the past, and I had never been there before. A Yelp opportunity! The parking lot was sparsely filled... good start. Upon entering we were greeted by a properly masked (!) young lady named Chloe Loudermilk who showed us to our table and was also our server as well. The tables surrounding us were all tagged to promote social distancing; kudos to them for that! Chloe was a darling who followed all protocol during the visit, and was so glad to see our masks and my added blinged out shield. Being a cancer patient I take no chances! Y'all are gonna laugh as I forgot to take it off and hit the darn clear shield with my first bite of salad!!! Yep. I did that. I admit it. Must've been a Kodak moment for auntie and uncle across from me... Anyway... we got our orders in, and I wasn't very hungry. Had to go back on low carb/calorie to get rid of my pandemic poundage. Ordered unsweetened iced tea and a petite Caesar salad. Yummy! For being "petite" that thing will fill you up and I couldn't finish it. Ordered a side of two pieces of bacon well done. Perfect. Not crumbly or burned... had to get that protein in there! Uncle had eggs Benedict with fried potatoes (cubes) with auntie ordering a stuffed omelette along with the same potatoes... and the prettiest blueberry muffin I've seen in a long time. HUGE blueberries! I give her credit in her quest to lose a few pounds as well... she didn't touch those "taters"! Everything was delish and not a complaint one. We came about an hour before closing and were the only people in the restaurant. All of the food was very delicious. The service was excellent. The menu is huge, almost too many choices. I got the breakfast burrito and my fiancé got the breakfast tacos. Not really much to rave about. Spent a hour in the restaurant for the food to be bland and not very good. Maraina was our server and she was incredible. She was attentive and helpful with all the questions we had regarding menu items. We've always known Mimi's as a breakfast or brunch stop, but we were travelling into Murfreeboro, TN and there is location near our hotel. Did not disappoint! The French Por Roast was really tasty as well as the cup of French Onion soup. My husband's chicken Potpie was yummy too. Would give this place 10/10 if possible. Not only was Mariana kind and extremely helpful during the meal, but the food itself was great. True home style cooking and great comfort. On top of having a great experience with the meal, Mariana and her manager worked hard to make sure we were taken care of after we forgot a wallet in the restaurant. We have seen this restaurant dozens of times when in Murfreesboro and other cities, just never stopped in one before. We were on a recent shopping trip, and when we decided we were hungry, began investigating dinner options. Our favorite area restaurant had more than an hour wait, which is just not happening for us. At Mimi's we were able to walk right in. This restaurant reminded me of a Perkins, which we used to have in Nashville but it hasn't been around for years. Because it was listed as a specialty, and just something you don't see every day, we tried the turkey and dressing entrée. We shared it because I recently had weight-loss surgery. Well, it wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, just disappointing. It was basically a turkey loaf that was Luke warm and tasted like dressing straight from Sysco. Certainly nothing that I would ever call a specialty of the house. Our server was OK, not great, and the cleanliness of the restaurant in general was okay, but again not great. The dining room is carpeted, and you can see evidence of tables where no doubt there was a small child earlier with little things dropped here and there. The restaurant has a bar on the other side of the foyer from where our table was, but on our visit I don't recall there being anyone there. Most of the folks there pretty much appeared to be like us, just hungry and not in the mood to wait. Will we be back? Probably not. With all the options you have in the world these days, why go anywhere mediocre? read more

We had the best breakfast here today. We had crab Benedict. It was not on the menu (social today) but the crab Benedict was the best we ever had. It had lots of real crab meat and hollandaise was just right. Service staff were friendly and hospitable. I would give it 10 stars!! I really Like Mimi's Café, especially the breakfast menu items. I highly recommend the Quiche Lorraine and the Bananas Foster pancakes. I have had both meals and they are wonderful. Their muffins are the bomb as well and they used to bring a sampler basket to your table but alas, this visit we did not get a complimentary basket of bread/muffins. The service is hit and miss just about any time you go, however our server was spot on this visit and he kept my coffee cup full at all times and I didn't even have to tell him. I have been there for lunch/dinner and they have a great French pot roast my husband brags about and I honestly can't remember what I had. I guess that menu just isn't that memorable to me. If you have never been you should give it a try and judge for yourself. They have a menu built for just about anyone.....unless you are counting calories, just make it a cheat meal. read more

I was in town visiting a friend and decided to go for brunch Sunday. This was my first time at Mimi's, even though I have one back at home, and wanted to try. It was busy as expected but I was able to find a seat at the bar. The service was great, very pleasant and checked on me at the right times. Food didn't take too long to arrive, then again I had their delicious mango mimosa to occupy me as I waited. My eggs were just right, bacon crispy how I like it. The French toast was good but I expected a bit more flavor but still delicious. I'd order again and add berries next time. Overall, I'd come back when I'm in town again. Now I hope to have the same outcome if not better when I try the Chesterfield, MO location. read more

We ordered the Thanksgiving Turkey and Ham Feast. It stated online that it would be picked up cold with reheating instructions. When we unpacked the box, we found that the meal was not ready to reheat. There were things that had to be done to finish prepping the turkey and the sweet potatoes. The turkey was shrink wrapped and looked partially cooked with pink juices in with it. Also, it was supposed to be a herb buttered turkey. It came with two small containers of herb butter and instructions to melt it and brush it onto the turkey, then "reheat" the turkey for two hours at 350°. In my opinion that is not reheating. It is completing the roasting. Also, I was looking forward to the two cranberry orange loaves that were supposed to come with the "feast". Instead, we received two carrot raisin loaves. While they were good, they were not the cranberry orange I anticipated. And the spice mixture had to be added to the sweet potatoes and the paltry amount of pecans sprinkled on top before "reheating". Also, we had to transfer all of the sides to oven safe containers, which meant a lot more cleanup. My whole intention in picking up a premade meal was to keep people from spending time in the kitchen. My daughter spent the day in there. Mimi's was a favorite of ours, but we will not be going back. When I spoke with the manager, he pretty much blew off everything I had to say, telling me he was sorry I felt that way. But not taking any responsibility. read more
