This is one of my favorite breakfast spots! The best place for mimosas and muffins. The blueberry crumble muffin is absolutely delicious, and the egg croissant is now my favorite! We scheduled a reservation within a (perfect amount of time to drive and park) 15-minute period for Valentine's Day via OpenTable. After checking in with the host, we waited 5 minutes for our booth request. Well decorated, both inside and outside, for the holiday, the special occasion offered a 3-course Valentine meal Feb 13-16. We opted for two of their regular 3-course meals, French Pot Roast and Grilled Atlantic Salmon, each with a starter and dessert. The kids ordered from their menu which are also 3-course meals! They were most intrigued and excited for their dirt cup desserts featuring gummy worms. Here's a polished review you can post: Mimi's Bistro in Fresno continues to be one of my favorite places to dine! We came in early on 1/25 around 7:00 AM and were greeted so warmly by our waitress -- she was incredibly positive, cheerful, and served us very promptly. I requested a special order off the menu, and she made it happen without hesitation. The meal was absolutely delicious! The inside of Mimi's is attractive which leads the customer to believe they are about to enjoy a delicious meal, especially because the pictures and descriptions on the menu are so enticing however all four of our meals were so tasteless, lukewarm, and unappealing that none of us actually ate more than half our plate. We ordered the kids waffle breakfast meal. The waffles were cold so the "butter" didn't melt. When I cut the waffle it was so crispy that it turned to mush so I had to cut large pieces that my toddler couldn't fit in his mouth. The kids chicken strips were hard and greasy. Our child tried one bite and then one more but couldn't tolerate it. She said her tummy hurt. My husband ordered Mike's Hot Honey Chicken and Waffles. He did not like the chicken or the sauce. He ate the waffles and returned the rest. They took the item off our check. I ordered Mike's Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich. It had zero taste or charm. I asked for Mayo because it was such a dry sandwich. That didn't help it at all so I added ranch dressing on top from my kids chicken strip meal that she didn't eat. We were super disappointed by the food here. The service was mediocre at best. One waitress for the whole restaurant which had three other table full and we still had to wait long periods of time to get our waitresses attention. There wasn't anyone up front when we went up there to pay. We had to stand around until our waitress could finished what she was doing and come up front. Took my wife, kids, mom and brother out for Mother's Day today. Had a reservation for 12 and was not seated until 12:46. Once seated it probably took 15-20 min until we had anyone come to our table and get our drink order. We ordered our food shortly after that, but didn't get our food until close to 2:15 pm. Rarely did we even see our waitress, I had to go find people to ask for stuff like napkins and see if our food might be coming. We didn't even get all of our food, we had the rest to go. The dessert we go looked terrible, luckily maybe a manager said she would replace it for us. Will not be back at this establishment. I have been here for breakfast only. When I came for lunch the table ordered the French pot roast and a pasta chicken bacon dish. We had an appetizer of the deep friend croquettes. The chicken pasta dish was okay, had a lot of bacon and the sauce had a tangy taste to it. The person ordering it liked it. The French pot roast had a strange smell to it. Not many beef roast pieces. There was a dollop of mash potatoes I used to try to cut the taste of the soupy stew that surrounded them. The carrots were undercooked, and looked unappetizing. Too much salt and a strange taste. I didn't finish this dish. The croquettes were good, they were a deep fried mashed potato ball wrapped around a tiny piece of birria meat. It came with a birria dipping sauce that didn't remind me of birria flavor. All in all I should have stuck with the muffins they are really good there and the waffles are a definite great choice. Breakfast is served all day so that's always a great thing to know when I'm the area. Not many employees on hand and we were sat near the restrooms. read more

Service is always great! This is our go to brunch spot with group of friends or just my hubby and I. We really enjoy the variety of lattes that they offer. The mimosa flights are fun. We appreciate that their menu offers food on either end of the calorie spectrum. The new thing I really liked that has been offered during the holidays is their baked goods baskets. The Asian chicken salad lacked chicken. They gave us $5.61 for the inconvenience. The service was not good. They were not busy. When we first arrived the staff was chatting with their backs to us. Our glasses were empty, I had to visually flag down the waitress, who was standing around with the manager & bus person chatting it up, not paying any attention. After that one refill, there were no more. And least the food tasted good. Unfortunately this is the exact reason it took us 10 years to come back. We don't plan to return. Mimi's definitely isn't what it used to be. This is the first time I've been here in a few years and it is definitely the last. The only thing good about this visit was our waitress. She was friendly and provided service with a smile. Now, the food on the other hand was not so good. I should have gone to McDonalds. You can never go wrong with a sausage egg McMuffin! Lol!! There were 7 of us in our group and our food came out at different times. Some of us were eating while others watched and waited on their food. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with a side of biscuits and gravy. The chicken fried steak was just alright nothing to rave about. I was already done eating, and the second half of my party finally got their food and I had to ask for my biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were dense and dry as you can see from the photo. We sent those back and the waitress removed that from our check and sent us home with some muffins as a kind gesture. Even the muffins didn't look or taste like they did back in the day. This place is a solid 3.5 for us. Being from the deep south, it reminds us of Bob Evans. The ambience is cute, but both times we have gone the service has been slow, but the people great when you can get them to your table. What do I mean by that? Both times we ate here we entered to an empty front bakery pick up area and there was no one there to seat us. I had to look for someone the second time. Same with our waitstaff... you have to look around for time, but once they're at your table, they're extremely helpful. Overworked? Perhaps. I don't know what their duties are in the back of the house. The menus are also a little weird. My husband is a breakfast eater. He would eat breakfast for every meal if it was offered. On our first trip he had a question about a meal and was told that each item on the menu is under a subheading and everything under it came with what was listed. All "Grand Breakfast" meals are "Served with two eggs any style and your choice of pork sausage, turkey sausage, hickory-smoked bacon, hickory-smoked ham, or fresh fruit. Substitute your protein choice with slow-cooked corned beef hash for $2.69." On our second trip he ordered the Monte Cristo French toast only to find out that it's not considered a "grand breakfast" and doesn't come with anything extra. You want eggs? They're going to charge you. You want bacon or sausage? Extra charge. The Manager at this location admitted that there were several things wrong with the menu, several food items under the wrong subheading... but that corporate determines the menu not the location. So my honest advice is to ask questions about each meal, don't trust the subheading it's under. Because this honestly felt a little bit like a money grab by corporate. The food is good, but again, the service is really slow. You are not going to go in there, get seated, order, and eat in half an hour. You're just not. But it's definitely a good place to go, sit, have a nice slow meal, read a book or Bring your parents or grandparents and sit and talk. read more

The ambiance is so cute but the food is meh for the cost and in general has gone downhill since the time I was a kid. Quiche was good. Potatoes on the side were hard and dry like they had been left too long. For a restaurant I was surprised. Potatoes are hard to mess up. I put ketchup but many pieces couldn't be saved. The green goddess salad had oddly large chunks of chicken and thick red onions. Would have easily tasted better if they had sliced them thinner. Bread no longer comes in a basket and only comes with one kind of bread now. Not what I remember. You can also upgrade the bread for an additional fee. The kids meal supposedly came with a drink and dessert... well the waiter brought us neither, even after I asked and he confirmed that it did indeed come with a dessert. So that was odd.... And awkward.... We were not asked about boxes nor were waters refilled. At least the fruit cup was fine. The quesadilla tortilla was a little tough. The ambiance is what makes this place nice but the food and service fell short in comparison. I was excited to bring my MIL but wound up feeling regret that I had chosen the place. I visit family in Fresno twice a year and inevitably end up at Mimi's. Never a problem except this - what in the name of all that is holy have you done with your meatloaf recipe? It was inedible - not even the dog ate it and I am being serious. It used to be thick and juicy and yummy and now it tastes like burnt rubber. I was with company or else would have sent it back instead of boxing it up. Thank you. Staff are fine and all else is fine but my favorite meatloaf has been desecrated! read more

The place has so much potential, I believe management has let their employees down. Popped in here on a spontaneous evening for supper. I had the salad with salmon and the strawberry salad. It was just delicious. I thought the salad would be served with the salmon fillet on top, but it wasn't it was side-by-side, which was rather nice actually if you like your food separated. Service was excellent. The staff were very attentive and they seated us in an area where we wanted to be. Mimi's café has excellent baked goods as always. The friend I was with received a bran muffin which she requested with her meal. It was absolutely huge and scrumptious. She cut it into 4/4. It was so big and only ate a quarter of it and then I gobbled down half of it. It was rich, tasty, and had a lovely crusty bit on the bottom which became the top. My salmon was seasoned quite well with a citrus flavoring and that is what it is called Citrus salmon. The vinaigrette dressing on the salad was just delicious not too much and not too little. It's been awhile since I've been to Mimi's. Don't recall how previous experience was. However this experience was pleasant. Came for brunch after completing morning walks. Food is decent. Services are prompt and friendly. Drinks are decent as well. They have an option mimosa bar. You can order a bottle of champagne and pick 3 justices of your choice. I believe it's about $50-55? Compared to $7 a glass, the bottle was actually worth it. There are more servings depending how much champagne pour into each glass. Overall decent place for breakfast. read more
