I revisited Mimi's after several years and was pleasantly surprised. I wondered "Why did I stop going to this place?" I had an early lunch on a recent Saturday, around 11:30. The breakfast crowd had cleared out and the lunch crowd had yet to trickle in. I got to sit in a large comfy booth and had attentive service. I ordered 1/2 Turkey Pistachio Salad sandwich and a salad, along with sweet tea. The Turkey salad was good and the meal was just the right size. (One of my past complaints was the servings were too large. If I was headed home, I could take the leftovers. If not, then food went to waste. Not cool.) Yesterday my daughter and I had a late breakfast. We got there around 10:20 and had a 5 minute wait. Our server was friendly, our order came quick. My daughter had the cinnamon brioche french toast, which was great. The eggs and bacon were pretty average. I had the eggs benedict. I appreciated the thick slab of ham. Next time I will ask for more Hollandaise. We had sweet tea, which we could have skipped because these meals came with juice. I like the atmosphere here - it is a bit nicer than IHOP or Cracker Barrel. The prices are a bit higher too. I look forward to going back and trying some dinner entrees. I will also sample the bar libations, and maybe even allow myself to be tempted by the beignets for dessert. read more

Alright first of all, their muffins are out of this world. And they add the muffins on to a lot of the menu items. So that, along with the fact that Mimi's is still one of Arlington's best breakfast places keeps me coming back for more. My beef with this place is that the quality of their food does not match their prices. My husband and I spent about $20-$25 and all we got was a salad and an appetizer. If the food had been spectacular I would have had no problem with paying that amount. But it wasn't. It was just mediocre. The meatball appetizer we got tasted like something I could have picked up from the frozen section in the grocery store and the salad was super unbalanced in flavor. Our group had a good time though, and our waiter was courteous and professional. So my recommendation is to go here for breakfast and get the muffins! read more

Very mixed experience. I was seated immediately, but waited almost 10 minutes before a server approached, and she said she would be "right back". 5 minutes later she was back and I ordered coffee and water. Almost 10 minutes, and I was contemplating leaving - the only reason I stayed was it was very cold and raining - she dropped off my coffee and water on the way to another table. I finished the coffee, and again was getting impatient, when the manager picked up my menus and offered to get them out of the way. I told him "not until someone takes my order." He refilled my coffee and left. He hunted up the waitress and she finally came and took my order. The French Onion soup was delicious... And was the primary reason I was there to begin with. I finished the soup and another cup,of coffee before my burger arrived. It was the French Quarter - a house specialty. The French fries were clearly fresh...so hot I couldn't touch them. Also totally unseasoned. (I was told they do not salt their fries? News to me.) First bite of the burger was great - hot, cheesy, tasty burger... Second bite was a shock. I bit into a block of ice! The avocado slice in the middle was frozen solid! I was not able to get anyone's attention, so I just removed the iced piece and finished my meal. To their credit, when the hostess asked if my meal was good, and I told her she did offer to send me home with an extra bowl of soup, but since I was at the highlands to shop for the day, I declined. So...service was erratic. Food quality erratic. They were busy (lunch on a saturday) but not slammed. There were several empty tables in the section I sat in. I'm disappointed. We are here over the weekend and we were not impressed. The outside of the building looked old, weathered and in dire need of a touch up. The food was ok but nothing really stuck out as good or bad. The server was very slow and I had to get up to get my water refilled. Doubt we will be back unless we lose a bet. read more

I ordered breakfast, I was happy with the food but the atmosphere was rather depressing. I like good food and atmosphere. I think if they can spice the place up a little I could give a better review. I usually get a omlette, which they are very good also. Our server Elese was awesome, she took very good care of us. The decor of the place is good, it has a old New Orleans feel to the place. I was here back in January with my daughter for breakfast. The location in Houston closed a while ago and we were thrilled (at least at first) that there was one while we were travelling. We were hoping the menu was what it used to be but it seems the 'update' is in effect here too. My daughter ordered pancakes, I ordered the corned beef hash. The hash is prepared very differently than before and I am not a fan. Before, the corned beef was like ground beef, the potatoes cut very small and it was all grilled crispy - this version is more like pulled corned beef, no crisp. :-( We will go to waffle house when we come back to the city. read more

Came back here today for lunch and Omg the food was better than ever! The mini French bread and muffins were super fresh! I stepped out on a limb and ordered meatloaf, which I normally never eat out... and I was Overly impressed! It was good as hell! The cheesy augratin potatoes and the spinach was the bomb! My Boo had the quiche with bacon in it and a salad and I tasted it and it was super awesome! The crust on the quiche was good and flaky! First time at Mimi's as I continue my search for great breakfast places in S. Arlington. Mimi's opens at 7:00 am which is a little late for me, but I have grown use to most places being the same. I was seated and given a menu by the hostess. I looked at the menu for any mention of gluten free options as that's my curse. The menu looked great, but didn't mention gluten free. When my waitress came by and I asked her and she offered to go get the gluten free menu. After a minute she came back with a single sheet of paper with 8-10 items listed as gluten free. This appeared to be the only copy of the menu they had. On the menu every were those items which in nature are naturally gluten free, i.e. eggs, bacon, ham, cheese, plain potato's, avocados. Still, they were arranged as dishes, so that was nice. I ordered coffee and the California omelette, which on the menu had a more fancy French name. California Le Omelette maybe. ;) My plate was brought out after about 15 minutes minus the potatoes. The waitress caught the error as she was setting it in front of me and spun around back to the kitchen to fix this omission. Once I had the completed breakfast in front of me, I was impressed at least my its look. After digging in I remained happy with the star of the show (the omelette), however the potatoes might just as well have stayed back in the kitchen. The food was hot-ish, fresh and mostly very tasty (again, not counting the plain boiled potatoes). My waitress was friendly enough and fairly prompt with everything. I was surprised I was never offered water. Is this common? She brought the check out and thanked me for coming in. $14.56 was the damage. Not astronomical, not a bargain either. Overall my experience was o.k. Nothing to get excited or upset about and certainly nothing to stop my search for a great breakfast place. As always, your mileage may vary. read more

Tried Mimi today for the first time. I ordered the Chicken and waffles and a mimosas. The mango mimosa was amazing! I almost wanted to get another one. The waffle was good, I wish it had butter already on it. However, the chicken... the chicken was bland. It was fried in planko or bread crumbs. Nice and crispy but blah! Good home southern food. I met a friend here for brunch and had a great experience. The staff was so friendly. We had about a 20 min wait (it was really crowded) but they were really efficient at getting through the wait list. The food is usually pretty good. I've had several of the breakfast offerings that I liked. I've really enjoyed their salads for lunch - generous portions. The muffins are always delicious. I do not remember having dinner here. At breakfast, I always ask that they cook the potatoes thoroughly; this is after multiple experiences of having uncooked potatoes served to me. The service is variable. When it's good, it's very good. But it's often not good at all. I have had to walk into the kitchen in order to get someone to pay attention. I have had coffee served with no spoon to stir. I have had to make multiple requests because the waiter forgets. The prices are too high to have shoddy service like that. read more

Now this is a review for the one in Fort Worth off 820. But it doesn't pop up on Yelp. But this is a mixed feelings review. I love their food. I've been twice to the fort Worth location. Once for breakfast, I had a goat cheese omelet and a pancake and it was actually pretty good. I also went for lunch I had a turkey club sandwich and my friend had the chicken salad sandwich croissant. Both were pretty good very big and very filling. But both times that I've gone to this place unfortunately the staff and service is very poor. They tend to act like you're an inconvenience when they have to wait on you and both times I had to wait at least 10 to 15 minutes just to even be greeted at my table. So having so having said that I do like their food but I do not like their service. read more

We stopped by to do the Valentine's $19.99 special at around1:30 pm on Valentine's Day. I started with a corn chowder. It was okay. Not homemade, but tasted premade. I ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes and garlic spinach. The salmon was so overcooked that it was almost petrified. The smashed potatoes were different temperatures cold, warm, tepid. The spinach was actually good. The chocolate molten lava cake was not heated through, but had a semi solid center that was not warmed through. Same thing for my other half who ordered the chicken. Yuck!! It was terrible!! And the crappy food for what they charged added insult to injury. All this for the only good item of the whole meal was the spinach. So much for a special Valentine's meal. If you looking for a good roast beef dinner look elsewhere. Their latest failure is a half inch thick patty of what appears to be beef pieced together, with no gravy. I say do not waste your money. For my first time going and it being Valentine's Day it wasn't bad service. Pretty hectic inside waited normal time though for the weekend and the food was good. Overall, not a bad experience. It did seem as if the restaurant was basically a very expensive Denny's though, just the normal breakfast food with a fancier written description that costs you more than normal. I did like the food, though nothing really popped out at me. I went with my brother on a random weekend, we had a $30 coupon that we had been meaning to use and decided to make this weekend that day. He had the fried meatloaf and I had the seafood fettuccine. The meatloaf was satisfactory, nothing spectacular, and my fettuccine was pretty tasty, the scallops were good while nothing else really stood out for the dish. To end it, I got the bread pudding with buttery rum sauce. It was good, not too sweet with a nice texture, although the sauce was a little strong. What really stuck with me was the atmosphere of the place. For one, it was very warm. The temperature changed almost instantly from one room to another, it was a little ridiculous. Plus, it was as if there was some kind of senior convention in town, the place was pretty much packed with senior citizens and family type groups. Nothing against them of course, but it was clear that restaurant was not one intended for a group of two or three guys. Lastly, the whole aesthetic of the place was really bothersome. The bottom half and the outside of the restaurant reflected a very old time cottage type restaurant, very cozy and quaint. However, the top half of the restaurant was covered in Louisiana/Mardi Gras memorabilia creating a very Cajun feel. I love Mimi's for breakfast but had a business meeting for lunch there today. I ordered the Chicken Madeiras Crepes. The mushroom sauce would have been great in a bowl with a spoon all by itself. However, I did expect some chicken in the crepes... and there wasn't enough chicken to even fill an egg shell in my opinion. So I would have given it a 4 star for flavor, but since the chicken was sparse, I only give them a 3 star today. Selection of dishes was a little lacking, but enough for anyone to still have something regardless if they want beef chicken pork seafood or vegetarian, though the veggie options aren't anything to come here for. Probably in a bad location off the highway and in the corner of the shopping center which = not many people visiting. They closed down all the locations farther up north so we made a trip down to Arlington. Breads are great, especially that carrot nut bread. You can buy them as muffin or bread at the location. Food tasted pretty good for the price. Pasta had great flavor and in a more than generous portion definitely enough for one person and then some. Omelette was pretty good too, but dill sauce served with it was way too strong and didn't seem like it would compliment a spinach and mushroom omelette. Would I return? Probably not. Today I had plan to have brunch with my friends at Mimis I arrived early 10:40 am because I suspected there was going to be a bit of a wait., when I arrived with my two little ones I was told there were already serving tow big parties and they could not serve my party of 6 (4 adult and 2 kids). This 1-star review is on the service at this location, not the food. The food at any Mimi's Cafe is very good. I've never been disappointed. I went to this location tonight and had a great meal. At the end of the meal we asked for some drinks to go. As the waitress brought a tray of drink over she dropped the tray and the drinks ended up all over me. I try not to take things like this seriously as I know the waitress made a mistake and it happens. After this incident the manager came to apologize and she offered us a dessert. We had both finished a muffin (the plates still on the table) so we explained that after our muffin we really weren't in the mood for a dessert. Then that was it. She didn't offer any other option to make up for the fact that an entire tray of drinks fell on top of me. Went for lunch today. Just me. Got the five cheese 1/2 sandwich, fries, corn chowder and bread pudding. The ice tea was cold. The bread pudding was very good. As for the rest the only thing that was hot was the plate. Very hot. Service was fair. I was there over an hour for a "quick" bite. Quickest service I received was when I was paying my check. Very disappointed. The corn chowder was inedible. Chunks of stalk I almost choked on it. Cold and tasted burnt. The sandwich was congealed. The fries limp and cold. Service here was excellent. My wife and I arrived later in the morning so there was a bit of a wait but we saw spots at the bar open and were told it was open seating so we decided to try it out. Best decision - the bartender, Morales, was awesome!! He was all over the place behind the bar and on top of everything while interacting with every customer that came up! The food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time - fresh, warm, and delicious. We will definitely be coming back and may opt for a bar seat due to Morales and his great service. read more

Met a friend from Shreveport for breakfast around 10...the hostess was the best.. She greeted us and sat us at a cozy booth for 2. She told us the special of the day. Now I would hire her.. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS...that plays a big part...we had two waiters that were awesome as well. One of my favorite brunch spots. The eggs benedict are really good. They start you off with the cute little muffins and I eat them so fast that I ask for more as soon as I sit down. I have been here many time with friends and family for breakfast/lunch...always got excellent services. However this past Thursday when I met my best friend for early lunch to celebrate her belated BD. Since we haven't see each other in awhile so we try to catch up, asked waitress to give us a little time after we got our drink, she walked by couple time but didn't stop, finally...while taking our order she look elsewhere but not at us.. didn't bring bread basket to our table but everyone else got their...regardless of her carelessness I gave her 15% tip instead of my usual 20%...since we sat there a little bit longer to visit, my sweet friend gave extra cash for table time, thought they not busy and plenty of open tables there. That's is why the For the lack of care... we'll find another places to meet, so many good restaurants in Arlington. read more

Great Bloody Mary but was so very disappointed with their French Toast. I was there on Sunday morning before the church rush. I ordered the French Toast which was made with plain white bread. I can make that at home, I expected better from a french cafe. The waitress was very slow with only four tables and had a disinterested attitude when I mentioned the disappointment about the French toast. I really like Mimis but I won't ever get their French toast. I'll stick to the omelets and bloody Mary's! read more
