I am born in Georgia but have lived majority of my life in the US before moving to London. (16 years in the US.) Last weekend, I was craving some authentic Georgian food and on the web I found Mimino.
My thoughts at the moment couldn't believe that there was a Georgian restaurant in London. I thought, I was going to have to fly to Georgia for a weekend trip.
Well, after finding the restaurant on the web, it didn't take me long to make the reservation for the next day.
I invited my boyfriend and two friends who have never eaten Georgian food and are very hard critics when it comes to restaurants. Their standards of a good restaurant is Gorden Ramsey, Nobu, Galvin, Hakkasan, etc.
After ordering a bottle of Georgian wine, Ukrainian beers, starter sampler plater, Baxe (chicken in walnut sauce), 2 orders of Xachapuri (plat bread with cheese), Baby grilled chicken, Kababs (Lamb and Pork), and two orders of Kxinkali (Georgian dumplings), we were so full and satisfied that there was absolutely no room for anything else. However, after seeing the another table order the dessert, we couldn't help but order three pieces. The dessert something unbelievable. I remember my mom making this dessert at home and naming it my favorite dessert, even today.
The food at Mimino is authentic Georgian and it is absolutely delicious. You won't come out disappointed after visiting Mimino. Make sure to go hungry and take all the left overs. The food is just as yummy the next day.
All of my three guests came, they were WOWED and shocked of how amazing Georgian food tastes. They were extremely happy and can't wait to go back.
I also can't wait to go back. read more
