Obvious tourist trap. Paella came out in less than 10 minutes (if you know anything about paella, you'd know it should not come out in less than 20+ minutes). Food was mediocre, paella was salty and seafood was fishy and not fresh. Carpaccio was dry and lacked in flavor and depth. Also very pushy, the lady asks for you to post a google review and will stand there hovering till you do it. She literally stood there watching us do it and wanted to see the confirmation after posting the review :/

    Tapas special.

Halal tapas. Interesting. Food was decent. Was bizarre to see head covering women serving beer. Place is huge with service being fast.

The location is good; it is right by the beach, and there is the Hilton Hotel across the way. The mall has three floors, including an outdoor area, which has a number of places to eat, including a Gino's Restaurant, as well as American fast food giants McDonald's and Five Guys. As you enter, you can find more big American brands inside, including Starbucks, Dunkin and Subway. Alcampo (large supermarket), Deichamann, Kiko Milano, Levi's, Primark and Sephora have stores here; there is also a small Nespresso stand. As I was staying at the Hilton Diagonal Mar during my August 2024 trip to Barcelona, I did visit this mall quite often, although it wouldn't be somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit. 3* - I do prefer La Maquinista or the city centre when shopping in Barcelona, as both have specific benefits over Diagonal Mar, but this is one of the few indoor shopping centres within the city, and it certainly is worth a visit on a rare rainy day or if you're looking to visit one of the stores or restaurants located here.

I stayed nearby during my trip to Barcelona, and I found myself coming back here multiple times just to recharge, cool off, grab food, shop a little, and honestly decompress without feeling overstimulated. It's super spacious, busy in a lively way, but never felt packed or chaotic. You can actually breathe in here unlike some tourist spots. There's also SO much to do. I randomly walked in and saw the BLACKPINK Deadline pop up shop and BABY I was gagged. Didn't expect that at all. The mall has a really fun mix of stores, little experiences, food spots, and just enough going on to keep it interesting without becoming exhausting. My friend and I also did the IKONO selfie museum inside and had an absolute blast. Definitely one of those unexpectedly fun experiences that ended up becoming a highlight of the trip. Overall, this was one of my favorite places in Barcelona to just exist for a little bit. Shop, wander, sit down, recharge, people watch, grab last minute essentials, all without feeling overwhelmed. I would make this a stop on my next visit to Barcelona.

I'm always in the mood for some shopping, so we thought it would be a good place to at least check out - so off we went. Maremagnum is essentially a large shopping mall. It's broken up into several stories with its layout being typical of other malls I've been to. The content of stores was a mix of familiar ones and others I had never heard of before. Probably the most noteworthy thing IMO is a large TimeOut market on the top floor which houses several eateries. Overall, I didn't think there was anything too noteworthy about Maremagnum - it's biggest attribute for me was that it's right on the water so you have great views. Outside of that, it seems like a good place to gather to shop and dine - I just wouldn't go out of my way to return.

For being an older mall, it looks fairly renovated and up-to-date. The stores here don't have as substantial floor plan areas as some larger mall complexes. There are 3 stories with Time Out Market on the rooftop level. The stores are pretty generic mall retailers--mostly apparel, accessories and shoes, home goods, some convenience/apothecary-type shops, specialty food. On a weekday evening there was minimal-moderate foot traffic, not crowded. The mall is open until 10pm though some restaurants open until 1:30am. Terraces on the rooftop bars at the Time Out Market provide an elevated view of the surrounding marina and the "market" is a more upscale version of a food court with places to enjoy a drink or bites to eat.

The mall takes advantage of Spain's weather as it's open while retaining partial shelter, it gives the feel you are outside. If visiting the mall via public transport, you can head to Sant Andreu Station on the Metro, and it is walkable from there, I do think it's a missed opportunity that there isn't a nearer metro station, as it is a 15-minute walk or so, although there is a train station closer, I'm not sure about services offered from there as I used the Metro. It's fairly easy to find what you're looking for around the mall, they have signs leading to the larger and more popular stores including Carrefour and Apple. Other international brands located here include Adidas, Decathlon, Deichmann, Dyson, JD Sports, Kiko Milano, Lego, Levi's, Nike, Pandora, Starbucks, Urban Outfitters. 4* - If you're looking to shop in Barcelona, whether you're a local or even a tourist who might have forgotten to pack something, this is one of your best options. The size of the store can be mixed, in a way it is good as it is slightly smaller than the other branches but still has a good range, and is slightly less busy too, which is a good thing as it means for me, a nicer shopping experience. There is a restaurant on the top floor, known as Floor 5 meanwhile there are two floors after the 0 Floor / Ground called SS and S, the bottom floor "S" has customer services, in this store you can find a lot of things from fashion for men, women and children to a small Dietics supermarket and cosmetics, bags, jewelry, gifts and furniture, the later all being on the -1 / SS floor. The staff around the mall didn't seem too welcoming or friendly or even active in engaging with the customers which is the shame. For me however, this store even with the store guide at the front in english as well as spanish, was just too difficult to navigate and that was a real shame, and although the size of this store is impressive, it is pretty much an average department store in terms of range, and is perhaps too big, which is shocking knowing this is only Barcelona's second largest branch of the chain.

The food market was uncomfortably packed with tourists and we contributed to this, it also had a mild sewage 3rd world whiff and at 34c it wasn't pleasant. The last time I got a pong like this was in Bangkok. I've no doubt we've also contributed to the fact that the price for food here has gone up noticeably, but not as exponentially as it will over the next few months if politicians aren't brave enough to cap energy price hikes amid obscene oil company profit scouring. Please don't hold any collective breath waiting on politicians of integrity. So we pulled out of the pongy crowded market and ambled the Rambles. Then the smell hit, pinched our noses and we were pleased. Garlic & chilli hit. And we just knew it was right on. So we followed our noses. We could see the wok master at his pyromaniac work from outside this small narrow place. A not enough room to swing a cat space. Mind you I can't think why anyone would want to treat a cat so. It was full of 20 and 30 somethings both those dining and those cooking. Intense gas heat, high flame, thin steel = little oil, rapid stir fry cooking of thin cut meats, vegetables and proper spice balance. Perfection. So the price is structured. I opted for thin noodles rather than rice, chicken as protein, cashew nuts for delicious texture, oyster mushrooms and beansprouts for taste and, of course, chilli spice. They add white onions, carrots and greens at no extra charge but I did say to go heavy on the fresh coriander at the end and they did. From start to paper carton it was a few brief minutes. €14.20 (£12.) and the serving was enough for two. 3 green stars. Wooden forks, spoons and paper tissues on site with narrow uncomfortable seating but great fresh cooked, hot tasty food. The oyster mushrooms and cashews sure pushed up the price but it was worth every cent particularly the cashews and honestly we didn't need the chicken. I noted that we passed many places offering all manner of paella - meat, fish, vegetarian but no smell not a whiff of garlic, frying onion so I avoid as I'm cynical enough to think it's pre frozen and microwaved food.
