I was in walking distance so i had to check it out when i arrived. I love this outdoor mall. The set up is genius. Food on one floor makes it so convenient when you're hungry and want to grab a bite while shopping. This place is huge and has something for everyone. La Maquinista is the largest shopping mall in Catalonia and one of the largest in Spain. It is home to a large number of brands, including one of two Apple Stores in Barcelona. The mall takes advantage of Spain's weather as it's open while retaining partial shelter, it gives the feel you are outside. If visiting the mall via public transport, you can head to Sant Andreu Station on the Metro, and it is walkable from there, I do think it's a missed opportunity that there isn't a nearer metro station, as it is a 15-minute walk or so, although there is a train station closer, I'm not sure about services offered from there as I used the Metro. It's fairly easy to find what you're looking for around the mall, they have signs leading to the larger and more popular stores including Carrefour and Apple. Other international brands located here include Adidas, Decathlon, Deichmann, Dyson, JD Sports, Kiko Milano, Lego, Levi's, Nike, Pandora, Starbucks, Urban Outfitters. 4* - If you're looking to shop in Barcelona, whether you're a local or even a tourist who might have forgotten to pack something, this is one of your best options. It's a modern and attractive mall with a good selection of stores while seeming much less busy than the city centre - especially at Apple! read more

So you want a mall huh? The Maquinista is the only true mall in Barcelona. You can try places like the Illa Diagonal which are great and nice, but if you want the sort of gigantic, sprawling, many-floored being that is a mall the Maquinista is your place to go. They very famously house the only Hollister in Barcelona, as well as Sephora, a Calvin Klein Store, a Nike Store, the Apple Store, and more local brands like Bershka, Stradivarius, Zara, Pull and Bear, H&M, etc etc. There are makeup brands, and candy stores, and electronics stores. There's also a food court, and a movie theatre. Sometimes, they even have concerts here, and it's all decorated during the winter holidays! The inconvenience of the Maquinista is that it's not really that simple to get there. You take the L1 to Sant Andreu, or the L9/L10 to Bon Pastor, or the H8 will take you directly there. Also, Sant Andreu is a nice neighborhood, but not the nicest in Barcelona, so I maybe wouldn't go alone at night. It's more of a group place. Fun place, a little exhausting because of how gigantic it is and how far away it is, but overall a nice place. read more

La Maquinista is the newest mall in Barcelona. If you want to do a lot of shopping with the least amount of traveling time, it is your best option in Barcelona. People who shop here are mostly locals so don't expect to find your swanky stores here. Please be aware that getting a taxi here at the mall is a huge problem. Although they have a taxi stop, there's no taxi waiting there. Twice, when we were ready to leave the mall, we waited and waited forever for one taxi to come by. So please make sure you arrange transportation beforehand so you don't get stranded at the shopping center. read more
