L'illa Diagonal is a shopping centre on the Avingua Diagonal street in Barcelona, I managed to call in here a few times with my hotel actually being classed as part of it, the AC owned by Marriott. The mall is quite nice, it is over three floors with the lower floor mainly being like a market, with a few eateries and a supermarket. The middle floor has brands such as Nespresso, a Gelato Shop and New Balance. The third floor has part of a Decathlon as well as a Nike store - To name a few. There was also an outside area which had a Volkswagen Dealership, information centre, and the gelato shop, owned and run by Dino's The mall was useful to have near my hotel because of this, and the range of shops it has. Most shops had at least decent knowledge of english which was good. Other brands to have stores here off the top of my head include Haagen Dans and Burger King for food and Lush, Superdry, Primark and Swarvoski for general shopping. Overall, this is a decent size mall and deserves a medium three star rating, perhaps offering more in terms of places to eat especially for coeliacs and a few more big names would be much better, perhaps adding brands which are harder to find in Spain such as TGI Friday's, rather than big brands which seem all over Barcelona such as Nespresso and Burger King.

It's just another mall...lots of stores and places to eat, most of which are overpriced. But what they do have is PRIMARK!!! I love Primark

The size of the store can be mixed, in a way it is good as it is slightly smaller than the other branches but still has a good range, and is slightly less busy too, which is a good thing as it means for me, a nicer shopping experience. There is a restaurant on the top floor, known as Floor 5 meanwhile there are two floors after the 0 Floor / Ground called SS and S, the bottom floor "S" has customer services, in this store you can find a lot of things from fashion for men, women and children to a small Dietics supermarket and cosmetics, bags, jewelry, gifts and furniture, the later all being on the -1 / SS floor. The staff around the mall didn't seem too welcoming or friendly or even active in engaging with the customers which is the shame. For me however, this store even with the store guide at the front in english as well as spanish, was just too difficult to navigate and that was a real shame, and although the size of this store is impressive, it is pretty much an average department store in terms of range, and is perhaps too big, which is shocking knowing this is only Barcelona's second largest branch of the chain.

I stayed nearby during my trip to Barcelona, and I found myself coming back here multiple times just to recharge, cool off, grab food, shop a little, and honestly decompress without feeling overstimulated. It's super spacious, busy in a lively way, but never felt packed or chaotic. You can actually breathe in here unlike some tourist spots. There's also SO much to do. I randomly walked in and saw the BLACKPINK Deadline pop up shop and BABY I was gagged. Didn't expect that at all. The mall has a really fun mix of stores, little experiences, food spots, and just enough going on to keep it interesting without becoming exhausting. My friend and I also did the IKONO selfie museum inside and had an absolute blast. Definitely one of those unexpectedly fun experiences that ended up becoming a highlight of the trip. Overall, this was one of my favorite places in Barcelona to just exist for a little bit. Shop, wander, sit down, recharge, people watch, grab last minute essentials, all without feeling overwhelmed. I would make this a stop on my next visit to Barcelona.

The location is good; it is right by the beach, and there is the Hilton Hotel across the way. The mall has three floors, including an outdoor area, which has a number of places to eat, including a Gino's Restaurant, as well as American fast food giants McDonald's and Five Guys. As you enter, you can find more big American brands inside, including Starbucks, Dunkin and Subway. Alcampo (large supermarket), Deichamann, Kiko Milano, Levi's, Primark and Sephora have stores here; there is also a small Nespresso stand. As I was staying at the Hilton Diagonal Mar during my August 2024 trip to Barcelona, I did visit this mall quite often, although it wouldn't be somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit. 3* - I do prefer La Maquinista or the city centre when shopping in Barcelona, as both have specific benefits over Diagonal Mar, but this is one of the few indoor shopping centres within the city, and it certainly is worth a visit on a rare rainy day or if you're looking to visit one of the stores or restaurants located here.

I'm always in the mood for some shopping, so we thought it would be a good place to at least check out - so off we went. Maremagnum is essentially a large shopping mall. It's broken up into several stories with its layout being typical of other malls I've been to. The content of stores was a mix of familiar ones and others I had never heard of before. Probably the most noteworthy thing IMO is a large TimeOut market on the top floor which houses several eateries. Overall, I didn't think there was anything too noteworthy about Maremagnum - it's biggest attribute for me was that it's right on the water so you have great views. Outside of that, it seems like a good place to gather to shop and dine - I just wouldn't go out of my way to return.

For being an older mall, it looks fairly renovated and up-to-date. The stores here don't have as substantial floor plan areas as some larger mall complexes. There are 3 stories with Time Out Market on the rooftop level. The stores are pretty generic mall retailers--mostly apparel, accessories and shoes, home goods, some convenience/apothecary-type shops, specialty food. On a weekday evening there was minimal-moderate foot traffic, not crowded. The mall is open until 10pm though some restaurants open until 1:30am. Terraces on the rooftop bars at the Time Out Market provide an elevated view of the surrounding marina and the "market" is a more upscale version of a food court with places to enjoy a drink or bites to eat.
