It's focuses on being authentic rather than playing to the Spanish taste. The "spicy" ramen was not that spicy, so we needed to add some hot sauce. Portion sizes are not massive, but great for 1. Staff are friendly, but busy. Great place in the winter. Recommend booking on a Friday and Saturday night.

Ramen in Spain? Well, that's what I was seeking after I spending more than a week outside of SoCal…read more Distance makes the heart fonder, and this applies to good food too. From this experience, I started realizing how lucky I was to be living where I am, where all types of GOOD food is available and at my finger tips. In other words, I hate to admit it, but I miss ramen... even when in Spain. And so today I caved... and visited Fan Shoronpo, a recommendation from a lady (and major foodie) who worked at our hotel! The spot was only 10 minutes away when walking and when we arrived we were seated down immediately for a very early dinner at 8pm (it seems like most Spanish eat at 9:30pm). Looking at the menu, they sold items that were Japanese and Chinese with dumplings and inari sushi being some of the appetizers and different types of ramen being highlighted. My dad and I got the Tonkotsu Ramen while my mama got the Miso one and all were about 10EU with the option of extra noodles for 1EU and eggies for another EU. The food came out relatively quick and soon we were enjoying our bowls of ramen! This Spanish-style ramen was different in one obvious way... there was only one slice of Chasu... how interesting and kind of skimpy, compared to what I'm used to in the States. However the portion size of the ramen was just like at home and while the noodles were just as chewy and yummy, the Tonkotsu broth could have used more flavor and creaminess, because after all, it is Tonkotsu. The ramen came with cabbage, spinach, and the single chasu, though adding the egg was a good idea since it was gooey and soft boiled to perfection! While this bowl of ramen was not as amazing as what I usually have, I would say it works pretty well and it met my expectations that for a bowl of ramen found in Europe. The space is comfortable and staff is super nice and accommodating of tourists as they spoke pretty great English and had menus that were easy to read. Though they recommend reservations, they may not be required on a weekday as when I came in around 8pm at opening time it was fairly empty. But then again, they did mention that they did have a party coming in at our table around 9:30pm so we would have to bounce by then so if you want to be safe, call ahead. So when in Spain and craving a bowl of hot steamy noodles, come out to Fan and give them a shot (oh, and maybe their dumplings too)!

First night here in Barcelona and chose this place because me and wifey were having a late (1030…read morepm) dinner and this was closing at 1130 pm and close to our hotel and had good reviews on Yelp! I gave it 5 stars considering we are in Barcelona and was close to the taste to other ramen places I've had in my lifetime (ramen in Japan, Vancouver, LA, Seattle, San Diego etc) If I was to compare it to the best ramen Ive ever had (Ichiran in Japan), it's likely would be a 3.5 but we are in Spain so it gets a 5. Ordered kimchee based on peeps comments and it was decent but we didn't finish it. Servers were nice and spoke English The Banoffee was good and was new to me. Worth a try I'd say try it if you want something different than tapas. Lots of local ate here

I arrived for a late lunch (according to American standards, of course, as it was probably perfect timing for the rest of the Spaniards in the restaurant) and was quickly seated. I had gotten my filling of tapas during my stay in Barcelona and needed a bit of palate cleanser with a hearty, flavorful bao filled with meat -- a bit like an Asian taco, if you will. I stood firm in my order despite it feeling like heresy as "ramen" is in the name of the restaurant and a quick look around me revealed that most of the tables were definitely enjoying their ramen. Still, with things like pad thai and kimchi on the menu, I felt like I had permission to indulge in my cravings. I dug into a starter of some chicken karaage (Japanese fried chicken) that came with some homemade teriyaki sauce on the side. The chicken was perfectly crispy and the teriyaki sauce complemented its flavor instead of being too overwhelming. But the order did seem a bit on the pricier side at €7.50, which is basically the same price as one of the baos, so I think I would've ordered an extra one instead. As for the baos, I got three: the pork, the chicken, and the shrimp. They all tasted very similar to each other -- the pickled cucumber and carrot on the pork and the sauces on the shrimp did most of the heavy lifting, so I barely tasted the difference in meat. There are other places that ofter this bao delicacy in Barcelona (my reco would be Boa Bao) so come to Koku Kitchen for the ramen and gyoza instead. I did appreciate the decor of the place, especially the flower placed in a brown apothecary-esque bottle and the dim, hip vibes of the bathroom.
