I just experienced same thing as Keith H. and Tom C. I am baffled! Our family found MIMI's about a year and a half ago and I go in every other week for a haircut. Until this last week this was seriously the best haircut and service I have ever received. Mimi was an absolute sweetheart and did an outstanding job! Well at my last visit Mimi was very quiet and not herself. My wife, daughter and I all thought the same and I asked Mimi of everything was ok. She just nodded and that was it. When I went to pay the price mysteriously went up 3 buck too, which I thought was odd. Well a week later my mother went to visit Mimi and she was told she did not have time. We knew something was up because over the last year if there was a customer she did not want to help she would tell them that she did not have time and then after they would leave she would tell us she did not like that customer so she would tell them no time. Well today I pulled up and Mimi was sitting on her couch playing on her phone. She saw me walking to the door and met me at the door. She poked her head out the door and said, "No Time." I asked her what we have done to offend her and she again simply replied, "no time." I asked a third time and she shook her head side to side and shut the door. I was baffled. I have no idea why or what happened but somehow we have offended her and we are now searching for a new stylist. We did have a friend who speaks Vietnamese try to talk to her and she would not say what we did to offend her but said we need to find a new stylist as she will not cut our hair anymore. So in short, if you are told "No Time" do not bother. If she greets you and gives you the great customer service then enjoy it while you get it cause it could end at anytime. read more

I have only been to Mimi's Salon for waxing and would definitely recommend her! I have a thing for eyebrows and making sure mine look good all the time. It is near impossible to keep them perfect with the prices of waxing services these days (note to self, when I say "these days" after complaining about the cost of something, I sound really old. So stop doing that). Mimi's was great! She got me in the same day I called, which is a HUGE plus. Salon was clean and the service was super quick. She had 2 walk-in's waiting and was finishing up a haircut. I only had a wait a few minutes and she had me waxed and outta there in no time! Mimi is cheap horrible person and runs a nasty saloon, pictures of her self all over her parlor show just how vain she really is. She only takes cash - can only imagine why. After many years of going to Hair cutting places in malls, I found Mimi Actually needing a pedicure due to ingrown toenail ,I stopped at Mimi's Salon, That was 7 years ago and I've not gone anywhere else. She is not only the friendlist person,she knows exactly what she's doing and I get a Mani-Pedi and Haircut each time I go.I travel about 25 miles one way to see here as I have moved since starting to go to her. Her new location on Halsey is very nice.and her prices are much more than fair, in my opinion,very inexpensive. and have no problem leaving her a well deserved tip.I would encourage anyone to go see her and you will be very pleased. read more

I called this salon to see if I could get my elderly mom a permanent. The person I spoke with was very willing with a "wide open schedule" until I told her my mom was a sweet older lady, but she had Alzheimer's. As soon as I said that, she said she wasn't sure she could do it, she would have to see her hair first. I offered to bring her by so she could check out her "hair." After I hung up, she called back quickly to say her day was booked she couldn't do it! Makes me sad for her and for my Mom. This place does not deserve your business! read more

3.5 stars.. Local salon owned by a friendly lady, Mimi. This salon used to be in SE Stark but moved to Halsey and I still go there to get a haircut. Why? Mainly because men's haircut are only $7! I have to admit it took a second visit for her to really know my hair but its ok I know what to expect. Still, I'm quite satisfied with my haircuts. She has a lot of regulars so that says something about her. She also does eyebrow waxing (not for me but for my wife,.. really), perm, some nail stuff and more. Walk-ins are welcome, but since its just her, if there's a long line you have to wait, which is not often. So give her a visit and try it for yourself. read more

My standard haircut involves getting rid of all the hair on my increasingly-balding skull. Thus, I find it hard to justify paying upwards of $15 for something that takes 10mins from start to finish. Being unfamiliar with salons in the area, I turned to Yelp, and after reading all the positive reviews about Mimi Salon, I decided to make an appointment. I was not disappointed, as Mimi is very friendly, profession and did a great job on my touch-up. She also works quickly and efficiently, and although there were clients waiting, nobody seemed to mind as they all knew Mimi and were happy to wait for her friendly and fast service. The salon is nothing to look at, but for the reasonable prices she charges, who cares? All the pricey salons are filled with snobby employees and clients...who needs that? Go see Mimi! read more

I was supposed to go get my eyebrows threaded in Vancouver this morning, BUT... I woke up late. So, I was in a hurry to find a place for an eyebrow waxing around the area because we have an event going on tomorrow. I remember reading about Mimi Salon, and remembered she had good ratings, on Yelp so I thought I'd give it a try. She's super friendly, fast, and affordable ($9). The only downsides are that I couldn't get the lip, chin, AND eyebrow wax cause it's cash ONLY, and I didn't have enough cash on me at the time. :( Also, it's somewhat hidden, I was driving back and forth on Halsey to find it, and finally saw it. ...I think I am going to attempt to go in early tomorrow for the lip and chin wax, and a mani and/or pedi.... if I have time. :) read more

My wife and I showed up seperately about a month ago at Mimi's not knowing each other would be there. My wife was there already getting a pedicure which I came to get as well. She had her nailsed polished too which I didn't. Everything seemed fine as Mimi took care of us as she cut a gentleman's hair as well. We went to pay her and tipped her well and everything seemed fine. She even called us later in the early evening and thanked us for our business. I went to call her today and see if she now takes credit cards as this site says she does. She doesn't and only accepts cash. No problem for me with that. I then tell her I was in one time before with my wife being there too and she asked for our names. She then blurts out "No, I can't help you people again". "Why" I ask, she repeats herself and hangs up giving no reason. Nothing unusual happened when we were there, just normal chit chat. My wife is a manager for 28 years with the state child protection department and I'm a department manager with Fred Meyer for 12 years. We are both 60 years old. How we offended her we don't know nor care for that matter. Her location was how we landed there since it's close to our house in Parkrose. We both admired her work ethic and thought we would come back to her shop. There is no way my wife and I could recommend to anyone. She's a hard worker but very odd. read more

I'm hooked on Mimi's. I don't go for the inexpensive haircut. I go because she is not afraid to cut my hair and not just do a little snip snip trim that lasts about a week and then looks like I need another trim. Mimi is the best and I am a regular. If you live in the area try her out. The shop is nothing fancy but the service is first rate. Give her a try...you should be pleased. My wife is now going there as well. It is now two years later and I add this to my comments: I am still a regular and when I walk in the door Mimi knows who I am and how I want my hair cut. Don't go to Great Clips. This is a much better place for an affordable, good hair cut. Mimi is super sweet lady, and very positive. She charged only 15 dollars for a trim and layers, and it was well worth it. It was a great experience and I know that I will be coming back. read more

Mimi is a great waxer! I live in Hazelwood and am used to driving closer in for a bikini wax. I decided to take a chance on Mimi and I was not disappointed. I was unimpressed with this Salon that I went to get my nails done at. I just moved to this NE area & was trying to find a salon as good as I had before I moved. (Considering just driving across town to go back to them!) I wanted to get a full set of nails...but even though this is a "Nail Salon"; she does not do those nails. SO I decided I would just get a manicure even though I could only do so by paying cash. I should have just gone home & done them myself (like I did my pedicure.) It was a weird manicure. Not all the nails were cleaned under the nail & when I asked for the other hand to have them cleaned she said "oh, sure" but just wiped my hand off with the towel. What??? Then she polished my nails. I got 2 coats but there were ridges of dark & light on all my nails because the polish did not coat the nails correctly. After all the polish is on, then she get the lotion out to put on my arms & hands (but around the tips because the polish was wet.) Ugh!! I have had my manicure for less than 24 hours & I have the nail polish chipped off of 5 of my nails!! I was told the polish would last 14 days. Nope. This was a waste of my money. I could have save it, done my own nails & gone out to dinner. I am NOT returning. read more

I read great reviews and I needed a haircut so I decided to stop in. Big mistake. This was the worst haircut ever! I told her to try to keep the length as close as she can but put layers in and I wanted side swept bangs. She chopped off like 5 inches. My layers were so choppy and when I told her that my layers were not smooth, she told me to get a flat iron. I told her that my layers weren't blended so she proceeded to cut more hair off but i told her its ok. Just don't cut any more off. As for my "sideswept" bangs, they were cut straight across. After I asked her to stop cutting my hair, she told me that I owed her $25. For $25, I can get a better haircut somewhere else. Lesson learned. read more

I'm a regular client of Mimi. She is very friendly, hard-working, accommodating, efficient, and she certainly knows her business. She gives precise cuts and wonderful shampoos. Then, looking around the room, I noticed a sign that said "cash only". Yikes, I was not prepared to pay cash and thinking that most businesses honor debit and or credit cards felt I was covered. She then grabbed the clippers and cut them so short that they're barely visible . I thought she was gonna trim them with scissors . I needed to have a pedicure and haircut. I found several good reviews for Mimi on Yelp and called to see if she had time for me. She had me come in immediately gave me a manicure, pedicure, leg wax and haircut in two hours. She last cared for three or four additional customers without making anyone wait more than 15 minutes. I am disabled and use a walker so the only difficulty I had was getting up to the spa chair. After I got up there Mimi did the manicure and leg wax n the chair. My hair is very long, down to my butt and I never go to the salon anymore because of very bad experiences. I've had salons charge me tons of money to cut my hair to my shoulder when I specifically said no length should be cut. Well today I was trying to be adventurous and cut my own hair. I have done it before but not as extreme on the layers. Well unfortunately I really messed my layers up. The shortest layer was at my chin and my hair is down to my butt. I was going for the Modern Mullet, or the Emo Hair style. Anyway I found that MImi had good reviews and I made an appointment really stressing about going through the salon experience again. Mimi said to come in right away and I explained what I wanted and what I had tried to do to my hair. She was amazing and totally fixed my hair! It looks amazing, and we talked forever about everything. She also put me at ease because she has super long hair and she has had the same bad experience with her hair like me so she could relate. First of all, there's a 50/50 chance of leaving with a good haircut. This is after going there for about a year. Last trip in she cut my hair for the usual $8 + $2 tip. Then my wife was up. Something my wife or I said set Mimi off. She started a tirate about who knows what while cutting my wifes hair. Both my wife and I after we left said what was that all about. At the end instead of charging my wife $12 or $15 like last time, she coldly says $25 dollars, see on the board, $12 and up ... Then starts on with I styled your hair too. OK. Needless to say my wife and I will never be back. Was close to my house and convenient, but i'll find a new barber. IMO Mimi lost a good clinet, as I would also bring my wife, and or other family members. Not any more. read more
