I was referred by a friend to this station 5 years ago for my car. I thought it was one time visit only as it was in the past but it turns out to be repeated visit for the last 5 years; not only my car but also my father's car and some of my friends/relatives' cars. - Service: fast, friendly, helpful - Price: reasonable (but cheap if comparing to the customer service you receive.) The mechanic (or owner) even offer for me free gas tank cap when mine was failed, but I could not take it since he already charged below the market price for his service. At last , he agreed to sell to me the cap at his cost. I saved couple hard-earned dollars for something else :-) Recommendation: definitely As Arnold Schwarzenegger said in his movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day, "I will be back," (but not as the wife-cheating governor,) I will definitely be back to this place again. read more

Just ok service. I been here a few times and Thao getting picky about what cars to smog. Plus he charged me $65 instead of the usual $45...

In and out in less than 15 min on a Friday mid-morning for $45.00, results sent to DMV electronically, even though I didn't bring my renewal form! And super nice on top of that - don't need to go anywhere else for your smog checks! read more

i made 3 calls today including this station, the price are $35, $45 and $50. the $35 is in san jose story road, has the worst review so i don't have the courage to support their business. this one has best review so i went there. there was one customer in front of me, and while testing mine, there is a new customer coming. i would say the average time i spent was about 15 min wait and 15 min test, i have nothing to complain. the mechanic is very nice, i asked him about the $15 coupon and he give me the discount without hesitation, so $45 is what i happily paid. and i will go back there 2 years later to support his business. read more

Milpitas Smog Test Only Station located at 1638 S Main St in Milpitas CA 95035 is my choice forever.....My daughter and I went to SMOG her 2003 Pontiac GM and went through with flying colors. The owner/Tech was so nice and informative that I would recommend his smog service to everyone I know as our date of smog, July 29, 2011. It took, for the actual smog test, about 20 minutes and with the owner's 15 dollar coupon that was good through July 31, 2011 online, I only had to pay $40.00 for the test. The owner, and I believe his name is Thao, but I didn't ask when we were there, but he is such a nice man and cares about his patron's as well as those who are also waiting in line for service. It was nice that all of us patron's who were there even got to know each other in conversations and I feel Milpitas Smog Test Only is the MOST Friendly place to do business with, not only with the Owner but with everyone who is waiting for service.........What a Wonderful Atmosphere and a Very Clean Shop. The only thing is that I wish I would of also brought my Truck along with my daughter's car as I didn't and I came from Contra Costa County to take her car as she lives in Fremont. The 1997 van required STAR testing. Arrived on a Tue afternoon and no waiting. The guy was very efficient and completed the test in less than 1/2hr. He was friendly and asked me if I have a coupon. After spending fours hours visiting several local smog locations that could not smog my SUV, I began believing there was something wrong with my car. I even called the dealer who insisted I bring it in for service. Stressful. I found Milpitas Smog Test Only and let Thau know of the issues the other smog shops were having. They couldn't test it on the dyno because the Traction Control feature on my Saturn Vue 3.5L wasn't allowing the test to proceed. (Luckily they did not charge me because they couldn't do the test). Thau advised he would do his best and 15 minutes later, he had my car spinning freely on the dyno. His years of experience as a smog technician evidently revealed itself as he was able to problem solve what other techs didn't have the capacity to. You cannot pay for knowledge like that, and I am SO happy I found Milpitas Smog Check. I will switch all my vehicles over to Thau because I am confident he will know what to do with both my early and late model cars. read more

Getting a smog check is an annoyance. All we want is the "PASS" certificate as quickly as possible so that we can be on our way. This place meets those expectations. Was in and out within 20 minutes. I've been taking my cars here for years, and have no complaints. Thao is a nice guy who does his job well. Smog techs cannot rush a job when the state of CA monitors every move they make. There are serious consequences to the business if CA state rules and regulations are not complied with. So if you don't have the patience to have your vehicle smogged properly...ride a bike, take mass transportation, or move out of CA. read more
