I do not recommend this dentist. My son had went to this dentist since he was 1 year old and every 6 months after. He started developing a cavity between his two front teeth at age 3 and I informed the dentist sent photos & also booked an appointment to get it checked out asap. The Dentist said it was a cavity and to keep an eye on it pretty much is all he could do. He didn't recommend filling it since he was only 3 years old I believe he said we could wait until he's older. Fast forward 6 month the cavity got bigger & started spreading to other teeth! Brought him back for his normal 6 month check up and he said again nothing he can do since he's so young. Didn't offer or recommend anything basically said wait it out. We kept getting no real solution. That same week I took matters into my own hands and sourced two different dentist (out of pocket pay since we already did out 6 month cleaning) Both new dentist gave me a laundry list of all the work that needs to be done on my son. Almost 3k worth of work 6 fillings 3 baby root canals!!! Milpitas dentistry never mentioned all this extra stuff that both of my new dentist seen! He only mentioned the 2-3 cavities I brought up to him, I was so annoyed like how did they not see all of this?? Blows my mind that we payed this dentist $300 a visit for cleanings and all they ever did was brush his teeth and not even point out all of these cavities and just let them get bigger. I'm only writing this post because I found them on YELP so I don't want another person to have this experience. read more

We found this office on yelp & based on reviews we decided to schedule, & we are so happy we chose them as our children's dentist. We were greeted with smiles & hellos from everyone in the office as we walked in. For it being my 3 yr olds first visit we knew not to expect too much... however, the dentist & his assistants did such a wonderful job at being patient, they were able to complete all procedures on her. You can definitely tell they are highly experienced in caring for young children & making them feel comfortable is certainly a priority to them. Kids are especially vulnerable to ionizing radiation and x-rays should be used judiciously. However, this dentist will push overly frequent x-rays and will refuse to inspect your kid's teeth without an x-ray -- he won't even take a visual look at it. If Disneyland branched out and opened a pediatric dentistry, this is how it would look. Minus the Disney characters working the office. They have several rooms with different themes. The staff inform you upfront of the services they'll perform that day, reviewing the insurance coverages, costs and deductible if any on a tablet. You get to see first hand the transparency of the transaction so nothing will come as a surprise. As you open the door, the kids are greeted with a whimsical prize tower that they can scope while they wait for their teeth cleaning. Along with a prize souvenir, they get a toothbrush, floss and toothpaste after their visit. The office is very sanitary and practice good hand hygiene. Even before the kids choose their prize, they are given a pump of sanitizer to peruse thru the goodies. Dr. Duong has a gentle bedside manner which makes the experience pleasant every time. It's also a great addition that they have a TV screen on the ceiling and headphones to distract the children. His approach is usually noninvasive and would only recommend what is necessary. For routine cleanup from check-in to check-out was probably 20-25 min. Great for a busy parent. read more

Loved the whole experience! Dr. Richard is super chill which was great for my kids' first time to the dentist. Even though they were scared at the beginning they quickly warmed up with all the office perks: child friendly decor, movies to watch during their exam and treatment! My kid's dentist were no longer accepting Delta PPO, so we had to find a new dentist around the area. We were glad to find this place. Per Dr. Duong, there are one of the few in the area still accepting Delta PPO. This place is situated in a quiet small business plaza, in the same building as a one of the banks in he area. When we walked into the building, it had some sort bad smell, however, as soon as we walked into the dental office, it disappeared. I'm glad the dental office had good ventilation system because we were all worried. The dental office was nicely decorated with cartoons paintings throughout the walls of the office. It looks clean. Staff was friendly. Dr. Duong was professional and doesn't push for unnecessary procedures to be done. I brought my kids for exam and cleaning for the first time here. Dr. Duong found that both kids stayed having a minor cavity. However, he explained that since there are just starting and those are baby tooth, they will eventually fall off within the next few months, it wasn't necessary to do anything at this time unless things get worst with next cleaning. About two years ago, my daughter had a toothache , I was not able to find an appointment for her at several dental offices, luckily I called and they did their best to squeeze her in. Totally, it was a root canal and my lil girl was treated. The entire Staff and the dentist is so caring and nice to both of my lil kids. One thing I really like is the dentist actually review patient files prior to seeing them. I have brought the kids to other place before and they did not , you'll be surprise. We have been going here every six months or even quite often than that , for their yearly cleanings and removing baby teeth. For a 6 yr old who was very anxious and nervous about going to the dentist for the 1st time, now he can't wait for his next appointment, says a lot. When we first arrived into the office, the decors of office was very welcoming as if we entered a kids storybook /Disneyland. We were greeted by Dr. Duong and his staff. Filled out some paperwork, signed "consent of treatment" and was asked if we had any questions or concerns. Once we were in the exam room, Dr.Duong and his assistant were very calm and professional especially while taking the X-rays. They explained every step/equipment/reviewed the X-ray to my son (and myself) and whenever possible let him feel/hold the equipments used. They let him participate in his care by holding the suction. Once done, my son got to pick a prize from the prize tower, not just 1 but 2! ( I guess because he had no cavities .) Overall: was very impressed by their Knowledge, and professionalism. Staff were friendly and courteous. Great customer service! Only issue I found, was the initiation paperwork online, which needed to be filled out prior to the first appointment. I felt there was so many repetitions online and when we came in, a similar form was given other than the Consent for treatment (which I know is required with every visit). As I'm writing this review, I realized that after I completed the paperwork online, I don't think there was an option to review/save a pdf file. Maybe at the first appt, a quick review of the forms that was filled out online be presented just in case there are corrections to be made. COVID-19 safety: When appt is made, a 1hr is blocked for your visit, so no other patients are present in the waiting room. We came here seeking second opinion on our 6 yo old's cavity treatment . Dr Richard didn't seem interested in evaluating cavity size and possible options, rather he assumed that our kid need fillings and crowns. he started to explain how important it is to sedate child for all these procedures. He even showed us very disturbing pictures (ripped faces due to drill accidents) showing what happened when they try to do procedures without anesthesia. He and his assistant put x ray plate (mouth piece to take xray) in my kid's mouth, held it for few mins and then said they can not take x ray as kid gags . I don't think they actually tried to take x-ray. Also Dr Richard said he just wanted to see if child can hold that plate or no. Anyways they dint take x rays or anything. But charged our insurance for photographic Images and some other charges. All in all they wanted to earn money and that's it. They billed insurance around 300 to just look into old x-rays and scare us. They did a follow up call that they can give some sort of medication to kid before sedating so that he will not gag . Overall I was not satisfied with Dr Richards opinions and way of explaining things. I feel he was just trying to sell his expensive stuff to us. My daughter (6 years old at the time) required several dental procedures requiring her to be under general anesthesia. I was uncomfortable with the process, and my daughter's dental office was not very helpful. He answered all my questions with extreme detail and made me feel comfortable. I could tell he is passionate about his job and truly cares, so I decided to schedule an appointment to see Dr. Richard. Absolutely stunning and mesmerizing. Fast forward, Dr. Richard was able to complete my daughter's dental procedures (not the same day) without general anesthesia and with just laughing gas. My 5 year old son had a pretty bad cavity in one of his molars so it needed to be removed. His pediatric dentist referred him to an oral surgeon. I looked up that oral surgeon and saw that he mostly dealt with adult patients. We were not comfortable taking him to an oral surgeon who may suggest putting him to sleep for the extraction. My son (at that time) hadn't lost any teeth yet or had any dental procedures besides regular teeth cleaning. I saw on Metlife's website that Dr. Richard was an in network dentist, but most importantly, PEDIATRIC dentist. We set up an appointment to see him the next day. Upon entering his office, you can't help but be mesmerized by the paintings on the wall. Very beautifully painted and kid friendly. Dr. Richard spent a good amount of time talking to us about what kind of treatment and steps he would take to extract our son's teeth. We felt comfortable and loved how patient he was with all our questions. The big day came and my son went to get his molar extracted. Dr. Richard and his assistant were gentle and understanding to a fidgeting 5 year old under laughing gas. My husband and I were allowed to be with him during the procedure, which we appreciated. My son didn't complain of any pain or cry at all, except for the times he asked Dr. Richard to move so he could watch his Netflix show during the procedure! LOL After seeing how well taken care of my son was with Dr. Richard, I'm impressed with his professionalism and will be leaving our old pediatric dentist and having Dr. Richard take care of both our sons dental needs from now on. About three weeks earlier I scheduled an appointment for my son's second bi-annual exam and cleaning. While on the phone I told the staff it's our first time here that it's his second visit of the year and I don't want the x-ray taken this time. She didn't ask me to request the x-ray from my previous dentist. I also filled out all the HIPPA forms authorizing them various permissions from the portal as they requested. On the appointment day they refused service my son without the x-ray. I told them I would have requested the x-rays from my previous dentist if someone had told me. Secondly I already signed all those HIPPA forms. Isn't that for them getting the required info from my previous dental office? But Ok I relented to them taking the x-ray but when I asked if Aetna would cover it he didn't know and said most insurance would not. Huh? I gave them my insurance info three weeks ago. Didn't anyone here bother to check? Isn't that the dental's office job to check and advise me which services are covered? I was dumbfounded by this office's lack of competence and experience on something as simple as this and they're in my Aetna network too. Also, the quite verbally-combative staff then told me not to blame them because it's my responsibilities to know that. Really? I've been to the various dental offices in the Bay area for the last twenty years and no one has ever said it's my responsibility to know which dental procedure is covered by the insurance. The dental office staff would always check and advise me. In the end we left without any services done. It was frustrating and a waste of my time talking to this idiotic and bellicose male staff. We wasted time driving there and lost the second bi-annual exam and cleaning benefit as it's mid December and I probably won't be able to schedule another appointment for this year. read more

Customer service lacks professionalism. Since I had forgotten my wallet at the time, the dentist I'm assuming was asking for payment before the service...seems money hungry. After getting denied, not once did he say, "let me see if we can reschedule you for another date or time." Instead it was, "sorry that's our policy that we collect payment before service." So if you've forgotten your wallet, don't bother coming here. Honestly, I wouldn't come back here even if I had my wallet. In the future, train your staff whoever is handling the front desk to know the information so people don't waste their time driving there just so they can be turned away. read more

I haven't written a review in a while but with this dental office, it inspired me to write one since I was impressed. We decided to switch our kids to a different dentist and sat Dr. Richard for our 5 year old and 1 year old. Prior to the appt, an app was used to be able to fill out documents electronically (big plus for me!). Convenience is important and and clued me into thinking that he would have secured electronic health records. Not a fan of paper records (papers getting lost, mixed up in other records, illegible handwriting). Upon arrival during check in, the front desk staff shared with me the services that will be performed, the cost and the estimated reimbursement from the insurance company. Transparency is important since unfortunately in healthcare it is often lacking. This was much appreciated. The dentist also shared us additional information about cavities and what to anticipate. Evidence based practice on teeth brushing and guidance was given in a non-intimidating way. Lastly, the kids really liked having tv at the dentist. Office was really clean. It was nice for the girls to share the the same room so my little one could observe older sister. We will definitely be bringing the girls back. My only suggestion would be to try and brighten up the waiting area with more light, if any way possible. It was a different vibe when entering the waiting room vs versus getting into the exam room which was bright. read more
