    Japanese Special (4/5)
    Jasmine L.

Millie Creperie truly has the thinest crepes in town while nailing the plentiful sweet OR savoury filling! //THE CREPES// Japanese Special (4/5) - really lightweight and not too sweet. The matcha gelato was delicious and the simple toppings of strawberry and whipped cream complimented it well. Pork Belly Okonomiyaki (5/5) - lots of pork belly and the salty savoury okonomiyaki sauce and sauteed carrots & cabbage just melts in your mouth and warms the belly! //OVERALL// I would come back again to try their crepe cakes or more savoury crepes! I do want to mention that still like the sweet crepes at T-swirl better though (even if they're $1 more, T-swirl's extra toppings are worth it).

This little shop is a little gem tucked away in Kensington Market. Available to you are different cakes, ice cream, drinks and crepes. The crepes are divided into both savoury and sweet, so it's not just about dessert. I ordered a mango parfait. It's a combination of ice cream, real fruits and corn flakes. So simple and yet so delectably delicious!! Service was ok. One associate took the order and the other fulfilled. They got most of the orders correct though there was a slight confusion. But then and again our group was large and it would be easy to get our orders wrong. Writing about this place and thinking about the mango parfait is making me want to go back for more.

The good: if you like crepes, they are good. I only went to try the crepe cake of which they have several flavours. While I was in there 2 ladies were buying to take home and told me the tiramisu is good. The matcha was the other favourite of theirs. I had good ole vanilla custard in mine. It's tasty though I know it would taste better if it weren't so cold. I'd like to try the savoury next time. The not so good: Pricing is ok $8 taxes in for a small slice. I'm not sure I'd come for dessert again as there are other places in town with great sweets for that price point.

Best crepe cakes - within 2-3 days, we tried every crepe cake. Enjoyed the tiramisu, that was the crowd favorite. The earl grey tea was also one of my favorites but if you're going for crowd classic favorite, would go with tiramisu for the group. They layer 8-10 crepes and put flavorful filling in between. About $8 and enough for two to share.

My friend and I were really craving some crepe and Millie is our only fav. We got lucky cuz her bf was actually near by and went to pick up a few slices for us. We ordered some tiramisu and when we got back home (Oakville btw, so it's quite a drive) we had it and I think our minds was telling us it's tiramisu BUT it was actually vanilla lol. We ended up with a few vanilla slices.. which is what we didn't want. Gave them a call and they were able to switch it if we bought the old slices back. Again, got lucky as he was going back in that area for work to swap. Decided to eat a slice today... BUT THERE WAS A STRAND OF WHITE/BLACK HAIR. idk. Messed up twice? Maybe better off finding another place for crepe cake :'(

    Banana Split

Millie Creperie was empty when I walked in on Sunday with my boyfriend. The store was super warm as outside was still drafty & chilly. We were informed that they ran out of green tea gelato so they couldn't do the Japanese crepe :( We ordered the banana slip instead. AMBIANCE: (2/5) The place seems worn down but smelled great! The millie cakes are featured in a display to the right of the cashier (you can't miss it!). There are several tables in the store but they seemed sticky when we sat down. FOOD: (2/5) The Banana Split consists of: whip cream, vanilla gelato, chocolate sauce, bananas, and strawberries. The crepe came out smaller than I thought - they looked much bigger in pictures. The crepe itself wasn't very appetizing to look at and wasn't 'plated' properly. The vanilla gelato wasn't smooth and creamy but somewhat icy. The sauce all congealed at the bottom. However, I really enjoyed how fresh the fruits were and the crepe was really fluffy and soft. SERVICE: (3/5) We walked in around 7:45 PM and they close at 8:30 PM so I had the feeling that they were ready to close up (oops). The service was very standard transaction where they took my order and then handed me my food (took approximately 10 minutes to make). VERDICT: 2.5/5 For $9 I thought the crepe would be nicer and bigger. Maybe I should just try the millie cake if I venture to Kensington again.

    Earl tea

Placed an order for the earl tea crepe cake. Knowing the price of an individual slice does ease my mind knowing the cake cost is $85. Definitely not a cheap cake by any means. Came in a standard box. Staff was friendly but did seem disorganized. Day after we received the cake I was called the next day to be informed that my cake was still waiting for me to pick up. Cake definitely looks nice(picture doesn't do it any justice) but wasn't a fan of the guidelines. Overall taste was mellow and texture was on the airy side. First time having a crepe cake and it just didn't do it for me.

Parfait (thai tea and black sesame ice cream)
    Tammy N.

I love the fusion flavourd they use here! I've actually been here twice, one for the parfait, and one for the crepe cake. Parfait: I got two different flavours of ice cream, black sesame and thai ice cream. They were both really smooth and delicious. I love that they have asian flavours here! The crunch of the cornflakes, freshness or the fruits, and creaminess of the ice cream went really well together. I would recommend this over the crepes to be honest, my friends got the crepes but found it really hard to eat them without spilling. Crepe cake: while this is good, I found it difficult to eat. When trying to use my fork to eat it like a normal cake, there crepe layers slipped and slid against each other. It kind of came apart as I ate it. It was still nice to experience what it tasted like for the first time, though I don't think I would get this item specifically again. Overall I think Millie's has great menu items and I would go back again! Note that it is quite small, so best to only go in small groups of 2-3.

    Earl Grey crepe cake
    Lornia C.

My boyfriend and I tried both a savoury crepe and a crepe cake. The pork belly okonomiyaki crepe was the best savoury crepe we'd ever had; the pork belly was so fatty and tender, and the juices and okonomiyaki sauce worked so well together. Unfortunately for us, it was summer, and the place had no A/C, so we were sweating buckets in the sweltering heat. Anyway, we also enjoyed a slice of Earl Grey crepe cake. My only complaint is that the size of the cake slice is rather small. Delicious, but gone in a few bites.

This place is such a hidden gem - with a little emphasis on the 'hidden.' It's located on one of the side streets that connects Spadina to Kensington Market. We're talking a lot of dust, perpetual scaffolding, and some pretty aggressive panhandlers. The interior of Millie's is minimalist and clean, a pretty sharp contrast. The crepes here are crazzy good - forget the soggy, floppy, wan looking things you get elsewhere. These are positively crispy, almost to the point of crunch. They come rolled up like a massive ice cream cone, stuffed with delicious goodies of your choosing. They've got the usual, necessary toppings - strawberries, nutella, bananas, gelato. But props to them for having lychee, crushed azuki, mango, and other hard to find toppings. You can make your own crepe, or you can go for one of their premade varieties - the Japanese special is pretty awesome. A huge crepe, drizzled with nutella, rolled into a cone shape. There's a scoop of green tea ice cream surrounded by a halo of strawberries, and the bottom point of the coin is filled with crushed azuki. This is all topped with their delicious, fresh made whipped cream. They serve savory crepes too - definitely looking forward to getting a cheese crepe. The thing I love the most is that it's not too sickeningly sweet like other crepe places. The flavors are very mild and delicate so I don't end up feeling like swearing off sugar for a few weeks afterwards. The owners are very nice, and are very receptive to suggestions for the menu; it seems like they're constantly experimenting with new combinations. I happened to drop by in time to sample a mille crepe cake they had been experimenting with - almost 100 crepes with custard sandwiched between, so that it resembled a cake. 100% worth a visit!

    Matcha crepe cake ($8.75/slice)
    Sharon M.

Thousand layer cake. More like 20 layer cake but damn, every layer is a bite of soft, velvety heaven. Came here to get a single slice of the famous Japanese-style crepe cake, specifically matcha. I was pretty surprised that it cost almost $9 for a slice but given the craftsmanship that goes into it, I think it's justified. Every layer was paper thin and sandwiched between matcha cream. It was a perfect size to share after a meal, or just to indulge yourself (it's pretty filling with all the cream). Service was friendly and quick. Since we were eating in-store, they provided us with cutlery and dishes that were actually quite fancy and dainty. I saw a sign that said if you didn't pre-order a cake within a certain period of time, they would charge it as 12 individual slices. Yikes, that's one expensive cake! The shop itself is pretty small with very limited seating. Probably better to just buy it and go. Your eating experience will depend entirely on who else is in the shop and if you're unlucky enough to sit next to some really loud people (which unfortunately, we were), it might ruin your experience. I'm a big fan of crepe cakes with their delicate texture and subtle sweetness. I'm hoping this trend really explodes and more flavours are offered in the future. Lady M in NYC has around 10 delicious flavours of crepe cake. You can do it, Millie, I believe in you! (34/100) - 2016

    crepe cake to go $8
    Karmen N.

Been wanting to come here for a really long time. Finally made it. Mind you, it's a really small shop with just two tables to sit at. I got the green tea layered crepes cake. One slice is like $8! So savour it slowly. I took it to go, so by the time I ate it a few hours later, the cream was soft and melty. I was surprised though, the slice is really small. I guess you're paying for the labour involved, but the taste was okay. Sweet, and it taste exactly like whipped cream. There's like 20-25 layers but you taste more cream than crepe. Okay to experience it, but I wouldn't buy another. It's like buying one of those uncle tetsu cakes; cool to try once as a one time thing since it's expensive.

Cute and small little shop! The crepe is very smooth and light. I got the Earl grey and my friend got the matcha. I would say it's better than other places I have tried like Amausan Uni Matcha on Dundas (although the decor there is good). This mille crepe place has souffles which we really wanted to try but they didn't have it at the time (it was almost closing) so keep that in mind if you're going for the souffle. I'll definitely return back again to try the Thai iced tea gelato and other flavours as well!

First to know is you can't pay with credit card here--there's an ATM in the front of the restaurant. As far as the restaurant goes, it was fantastic from start to finish. Our table of 4 was seated and serviced by 1 main staff member, Lydia, who talked us through the whole menu and ordering system, recommended some great starts and then kept us frequently updated all throughout dinner. She checked up on us along with her assistants who were also bringing items and servicing the table. The food quality was excellent with juicy and flavorful cuts of beef along with the shrimp, pork, veggies, side dishes/ponchon, and rice--it kept coming consistently. Grill changes were frequent as well. The atmosphere is lively and there are a lot of servers so you aren't trying get someone's attention all the time. But it doesn't feel too cramped at the same time. As it is AYCE, everyone in our group left full of course and enjoyed each course. I liked the almond tofu at the end! ----TL;DR---- Pros: great selection of meats, quality was top notch, huge portions of course as it is AYCE, service was prompt and all staff were really friendly. Cons: no reservations so need to be on a waitlist. The no credit card system is a bit of an inconvenience. Bottom Line: we loved it--definitely would go back again and enjoy more of their selections! You have to try them if you like meat and AYCE!

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). We got a bunch of dishes to share and overall liked most things but some things (like the oyster) unfortunately didn't hit as well. Wagyu - thin slices but very tender and very flavorful with the cheese - surprised by how well the flavor combo worked out. Tofu - easily one of my fave agedashi tofu. Huge tofu slices with very chewy outer texture, a bit gelatinous . Really went well with the sauce and toppings Carbonara - nice chewy texture to the udon, not too soft and not too firm. The sauce was nice and creamy. Not as truffley as I thought it would be, wish it was a little more but it was still pretty good Oyster - least favorite of all the dishes we got today. It was a bit sour and the cheese felt like it didn't really help the flavor profile of the oysters. It was super oily from the cheese, felt like it was drowning in cheese/oil flavor Cod - it looks good but something is lacking, maybe in taste? Feel like maybe the marinade did not penetrate enough. The texture is still nice and soft , with a crisp skin . Also was a bit too oily for our liking, compared to other miso cod we have had. It was also a relatively smaller piece of cod.
