He made it seem that I had such nerve to try to color match something that old! Why would 10 year old paint with their label be so difficult? "It probably won't match" "Thats $46 for a minimum of a gallon and that's a discount." I went to Home Depot, they had a perfect match in 10 minutes. Less than 1/6 the cost for the amount I needed. Applied the paint, let it dry, looks perfect. Sherwin Williams can kiss my behind. "Cover The World" in paint? How toxic is that slogan?

After returning some unused items, Nick was kind enough to inform me of a promotion making the upgraded paint cheaper than the grade I was inquiring about. He even honored the current sale for the one gallon I'd bought a few days prior, which he certainly didn't have to do. When I contemplated buying more he informed me of an upcoming sale, so I knew I wouldn't be missing out. I will 100% be back largely in part to Nick going above and beyond for a great customer experience.

Spoke to the kid at the counter and he told me that the product I was looking for had since changed names. The contractor paint that I was looking for to touch up my ceiling was a 700 series and is now a 400 series per him. He said it comes in 1 gallon, which is the smallest he could do for me. I didn't really want that much paint but I didn't really seem to have an option. He did give me a discount because I had my Builder's information so the gallon of paint was almost $50. I went home and touched up the area, and immediately knew it was not a match. It was super Duper shiny more like a gloss. I let it dry and came back and could see it a mile away. It was definitely much brighter white as well. I called the store and a female answered, and I explained the situation to her. She then promptly tells me that that is definitely not a match and even though the series changed that is not the correct paint for my ceiling. I asked her if I could return it and she said they did not allow returns. I explained the situation to her and told her that the gentleman told me it was a match and I had photos to prove it. I told her how big the area was, and after about 10 minutes she finally said that I could actually bring the paint back. The gentleman was in the store when I returned, and I attempted to talk to him about it because basically, I had wasted about two hours of my time doing this, and he would not speak to me at the counter. I mean, if it was a mistake and you didn't know then just own up to it. I was super put out by it, but the girl did the right thing in the end and I got a refund and left.

I parked steps from the door and got everything I wanted from my visit, so 5 stars (though I can't yet speak to value for money since everything I needed this time was free.) I'm in the process of purchasing real estate in Vancouver WA for the first time, and I know I prefer Benjamin Moore's Aura paint. This shop was very convenient to the home of the relative I was staying with, so I stopped by to pick up paint samples to bring to a few condo showings. I will return when it is time to purchase my paint unless subsequent visits prove any less pleasant and helpful. This is a relatively small shop in a strip mall across from a Safeway grocery store, but, so far, I have a very positive view of the customer service.

Today, I came by for a tool that would make a template for a door strike plate. If I had tried to explain what I needed at a big box store they would have shrugged their shoulders and walked off. Not the Ace staff...they actually had what I needed and then some. Ended up getting some DIY supplies and got to use my "welcome to town" Ace coupon. Ace Hardware hires the nicest people. So glad I found my local go-to store.
