It's more of a hobby shop than a bargain shop, a little more expensive but it's close and they have a lot of stuff nobody else has.

I came to Parkrose Hardware to look for specific parts for a Kwikset lock based on a recommendation from a helpful employee at Home Depot. While Parkrose didn't have that specific part (nobody locally does), they had TONS of things I'd never have expected, such as work boots, work clothing, cotton candy machines for rent, supplies for said machines, individual sheets of very high grit sandpaper, 5-gallon barrels of solvents, and generally many items that the giant chains don't carry. Particularly noteworthy was the enormous selection of Stihl products. I've been to many Stihl dealers over the years, but none have had this huge of a selection. The area leading to the checkout counters has a huge selection of very unique soft drinks and candies, and itself seems like a mini "Rocket Fizz" store. Good hardware with little or lot of everything. BUT What's going on with the house plants???? There's a huge selection in a open big space, fairly nicely displayed and dying for lack of water. Do you know how long it takes for a succulent to starve out and die from lack of water? It takes months. Every time I go in the store I go straight to the house plants, and every time I am bummed out because they have so many wonderful plants that are being neglected. They aren't cheap at all. I can't imagine why they wouldn't simply water them adequately. On my most recent visit there were at least five plants completely dead on the shelf and half the plants had bone dry dirt. Well i guess you can have a place that offers alot of nice expensive items and a good assortment but if you cant take care of your own restrooms that is a fail! I was so disappointed in what i seen i couldn't even use this filthy restroom. Toilet was filthy and leaking water out of the back and running on the floor were you would stand .NO TOILET PAPER OR PAPER TOWELS? A person can usually make a pretty good assumption of how a business is ran and how it truly thinks of its customers when you look at their restrooms. I had items i was purchasing but just left. I went to Grovers and you could have eaten of of the floors in their restrooms. Thats who got my business. Management please take some pride in your restrooms. read more

I rented a excavator for 24hrs today and the tool rental area manager told me one of the handles sticks a little when I picked it up. Then I used the rental, it was working on its own and causing added time, fule and effort. Brought it back 6hrs later because I couldn't complete the tasks I rented it for and he gave me $40 back out of almost $300, thanks!!! He also said is was my fault cus he told me about it prior. This is the 2nd time and will not be a 3rd. Marketplace has cheaper more dependable rentals. I'm never doing business with them again! read more

What a let down! Double retail cost to buy a fan on the hottest day of the year. The staff literally insulted us. At the register the employee tipped the box so that it fell hard onto the counter smashing my thumb. Her next words: no returns (after our account was debited). It took five employees clustered around the cash registers enjoying the show. No actual work getting done. Very good hardware store, especially for nuts, bolts, and other "hardware". Also excellent selection and well organized plumbing department. Lots of quality parts that are simply not available at the two big box stores nearby. Also a great selection of lubricants and cleaners. Would easily be a 5 star rating except that the prices are on the high side. For me, being able to find good parts for what I need in one visit still makes it number 1. read more

Honestly this store needs better management as far as employees. Front desk cashiers tend to be nice and friendly. But the guys that work in the back are complete a**holes. You ask them for help and they give you snarky comments or just waste your time to tell you "I don't know" . It's almost like the workers hide. Practice kindness and good helping skills. Don't be an a**. Shoutout to the employee that says he's a plumber and doesn't know good customer service (the a**hole). Could be a bit racist maybe towards colored people. read more

If you need something common, or not so common, this is the place you need to go! They usually have a much better selection than the local orange big box store that's just down the road. There's been so many occasions the big box store pointed me to Parkrose Hardware, I now make Parkrose my first stop, and usually saves me walking aimlessly through the big box place trying to find an item, or staff to help. They've manage to pack so much stuff you actually need into normal sized store. They have everything from tools and plumbing parts, to clothing and yard decor. Huge thanks to Nick who helped me at 7:30 PM buy a customer color paint. Nick came from a different department, garden I think, pland did not have experience custom mixing colors. I was impressed to see him figure out the computer software input and come up with the right color in just a few minutes. Some time back, I worked several years in a hardware store to help put myself through my university studies, and while working there, I learned firsthand how customer service was a priority. Today, I visited Parkrose Hardware and was taken aback by the worst customer service I have ever seen and experienced in a hardware store. This wasn't simply due to the vile creature attending one of the checkout counters who literally threw the receipt for my purchase down on the counter. Nor was it only due to the haggard-looking floor salesman I had to seek out and corner like a rat for assistance acquiring a product. Throughout my time in the store, not a single store worker greeted me or offered help. The whole store exhibited such an unfriendly culture I was relieved when I exited the store with my purchase telling myself that I would never set foot in that store again. In contrast, I found myself shortly after that down the street at the Wilco Farm Store (also a True Value Hardware store), where multiple workers greeted me, offered assistance without asking, and thanked me for my business. If you are thinking of going to Parkrose Hardware, save yourself from having a dreadful experience and drive down the street to Wilco Farm Store or any other hardware store. As for Parkrose Hardware store, I suggest you relieve your management of their positions and hire new staff. At the very least, hire a customer service consultant and provide your store personnel with customer service training. Regardless, I will never return to Parkrose Hardware store again. The lowest score of a single star is far more than this place deserves. read more

Autumn, in lawn and garden, helped me, my granddaughter and my friend with finding the plants we were looking for and a tree in the outside garden area and a very large spinner. She also helped us get everything in the car. You always hear the bad reviews about workers I think it's time we let them know they are truly appreciated. read more

Dear Lowe's and Home Depot, Why can't you be more like Parkrose Hardware? When I go to your stores I get lost, can't find an employee that can help me find the front door let alone the part I need. I think you need to have an employee seminar that teaches them this phrase, "I don't know, but I will find someone who does." Unfortunately I've also been on hold for over 20 minutes trying to get a department on the phone, I just stayed on hold till I arrived, and finally hung up when I walked in. Went in to buy a particular item. I was told there was 2 left in inventory. After much searching, I was told: "Guess the inventory is not correct". What the hell? This is happening more times than not. Why can't a store like this not keep their inventory correct. Either bad system or bad employees. Parkrose Hardware needs to quit expanding, and go back to one or two stores. Maybe then they can get it correct. As bad as they are, it is time to go back to Home Depot and/or Lowe's. read more

This review is based upon my getting a new garage remote control for my sister-in-law's house. I had no idea the model of the garage opener, but that didn't stop the very helpful guy direct me to the row where several models were available. This guy knew more about garage door openers than anyone I ever met before. We picked one, $40, and out the door I went. Unfortunately it wasn't compatible with the Challenger model, so the next day I returned it with no questions asked. I had to get a new battery for my late brother's key fob on his truck, and another really nice guy took care of it for me, opening the key fob and replacing the battery. Great customer service for a $4 battery. They have a pretty big store, and a great selection of BBQ's and equipment. Prices might be a little bit high, but the customer service makes up for it. read more

Reserved a flat bed trailer several days ago. They said it would be ready at 8. Get here at 8 and hook it up. The electrical connection doesn't work because the last person let it drag on the road. You could see that the electrical connection was broken. Why didn't they check it out and replace it when the last person returned it? Why did they tell us that it would be ready to go at 8 today? We've been here for an hour now while they try to fix it. So ridiculous. read more

The manager helped out with a display shelf they were getting rid of ..It was a $44 price tag but I was able to walk out of the door with this display unit for a decent discount.
