This is an email ad I received recently. As I'd been needing a cordless router and own a whole line of Dewalt tools I hurried to pick one up. Notice the ad states free battery with purchase and pictures a 5 amp hour XR battery with the router. Obviously Dewalt routinely pairs the 5 amp hour battery with their router yet when I purchased the router I was given an 3 amp hour non XR battery. There was nothing in the ad which stated the "free" battery was different than what was pictured or that I should find a link to find which battery was paired with which tool. An obvious bait and switch ad. The store manager told me he wasn't authorized to give me the battery pictured in the ad and that I'd have contact Dan West at the Portland store as he authorized the ad. I called Mr. West 3 times and oddly he never seems to work because I could never reach him. I left 2 voicemails and 1 message with an employee and never received a call back. I shop at Parkrose regularly and it had become my go to hardware store even though it's generally more expensive than the big national chains. Given the choice I'll always shop local but I won't be treated unfairly. Maybe the problem originated with Parkrose or maybe with Dewalt but I'll never know since Mr. West couldn't be bothered to talk with me. Ultimately will not be longer my "go to" hardware store.

They carry a wide variety of plants, flowers, shrubs and trees. Their garden center staff is knowledgeable as well. Their prices are much more reasonable than nurseries. We come here regularly for home and yard DIY project materials...from rock, bark and fencing to lumber, plumbing and electrical supplies. They have anything and everything you can think of at affordable prices. We've even used their tool rentals with no issues. Their employees are mostly knowledgeable; however, we have been directed to incorrect aisles for items. We also seem to see many employees when we don't need help and no employees when we do. Strange, but true. During our most recent visit, I noticed they've pretty much done away with individual checkout counters. It's all self checkout now. I don't mind self checkout, but what I do mind is employees barging in front of me at a self checkout station, grabbing the scan gun to ring me up and ask if I want to open a Home Depot credit card. It defeats the purpose of "self checkout", and can be extremely off-putting. They should allow customers to check themselves out and ask for help when needed. Overall a nice, clean location. They could improve some of their customer service practices. We will continue to shop here, mainly for their affordable prices, and one stop shopping.

Drove cross town only to find a massively busy garden center with just two checkers and a line leading back to the store. Tried to find the pavers...not there. Flagged down a staff member who had to find the garden manager...then the store manager. They finally decided that the pavers did not exist. (How about taking them off the website?) As I left I could hear a message overhead about a "system issue" with checkout. I couldn't wait to leave. Used to be one of my favorite DIY stores...not anymore. Btw, I will not be forced to download the HD app just for the privilege of using curbside pickup. Can you get more customer-hostile?

Employees are friendly, helpful and welcoming. On occasion sale items will be out of stock on the floor, but don't hesitate to ask an employee if they have more in the back. 9/10 times they do. There's always multiple employees stocking shelves during our visits. They used to advertise sales and offer coupons in magazines, newspapers and on their website. They've changed that now and only offer coupons on their website or app. They also offer an annual membership for the Inside Track Club ($29.99) where you get exclusive deals, automatic discounts and early access. Depending on how often and the types of purchases you make, it can help you save money. They have a wide variety of items here, including various tools, hardware, lighting, generators, power strips, extension cords, plumbing tools & pumps, automotive accessories, tarps, packing blankets, welding supplies, etc. They have a full list of departments on their website. Overall a great store to buy economical tools and accessories. Would highly recommend.

I also appreciate the coupons for free items that they occasionally have during the weekends. Can't go wrong with more microfiber towels! Admittedly, I mainly get things from here where it does not exactly matter whether or not it is an off-brand item, or if it doesn't need to last forever. Definitely, if you need an item for a quick fix, it is worth checking out the selection here. All the employees have been pleasant. I've returned a few items in the past that didn't suit my needs/didn't work well and the return process was ok. It does seem to go a lot better if you have the purchases logged in your account.

Today I needed 1x 8 cedar, and caps for the deck posts. First stop was Lowes, the closest retailer to our house. The boards were so-so, and the caps were not of the quality that I was looking for. Home Depot was second closest. Boards were okay, but again the caps were inferior, and after getting the highly annoying 'bing-bong' security camera warning about 4 times for my highly suspicious act of walking down an isle, I left happily empty handed. Mr. Plywood is a bit far from home, but I decided to venture there anyway. WHAT a difference! The boards I found are far superior in quality, and EXACTLY the same price as the big box stores. The post caps were the brand I was looking for, and $4.00 less per cap than I found them on line. When buying multiples, that $4.00 difference adds up fast! The service was friendly, personal, and they know their stuff. Without so much as one 'bing-bong' warning with a security camera staring at my face, I got what I needed at a reasonable price quickly and efficiently. I HIGHLY recommend Mr. Plywood. It was a waste of time and effort to go anywhere else.
