Noelle Is absolutely incredible and it will be hard to put into words how amazing her service is. 1) She immediately remembered me from when my dad died approximately 4 years ago. While she has been promoted since, and does not usually assist with families face to face, she assisted me with my moms service immediately; never once did she pass me off to someone else. 2) I had issues with Rose Hills due to some errors and lack of communication. I had trouble getting anyone to return my call. Within 24 hours of telling Noelle, Rose Hills provided me a resonable resolution to the problem. 3) She reviews what services and products are available in a kind and patient manner. There is absolutely no high-pressure selling techniques that many people experience during a time of grief. 4) Her response time to questions is unparalleled. I recently had an "incident." Someone very near to me died abroad and I wished to keep the cremated remains of the person with me. The country of origin refused to release them to me personally because the laws of that country did not permit for remains to be released to anyone except certified funeral homes. Since it was uncommon to send remains from there to here, the embassy and the funeral homes there were of little help. After a long search, I was able to discover that it was a simple process of having a funeral home here sign for the remains and receive them. Most of the ones I called didn't want to get involved since they didn't deal with it on a regular basis. Of those that did, most of them saw their advantage and tried to exact harrowing fees in order to accomplish these most simple of mundane tasks. Miller Mies offered to help me through this procedure without attempting to take advantage of the situation and with the highest level of professionalism. I found this business to be embody those legendary ideals of compassion which we hope to find in our times of need. For those who have, in one moment, lost everything by losing a single person, such a support means a great deal, as simple as it is. I would so not hesitate to trust this business or recommend that you put your trust in their hands if you find yourself in the unpleasant situation of needing their services. At least from the way they treated me, they seem to understand their role as guides for the living in those moments when near deaths have caused them to need direction the most. read more

As any funeral preparations can turn out, there was a lot of animosity between our family members and unfortunately, we got this mortuary involved in all of this nastiness. The person I originally spoke to was very kind, and she really helped me out, step-by-step. And when I called a couple times more to confirm, there was somebody else I spoke to and she was also very helpful in our family matters. Again, thank you very much for all of your help. My sister and I met with their sales/funeral director for pre-planning arrangements for our elderly parents. (He works for both Miller Mies and another mortuary.) My mother's passing was imminent and we wanted to be prepared. Our meeting was disturbing, to put it kindly. He was so inappropriate and made numerous disrespectful remarks, including asking us if we were married several times, then asking us if we were "married to men." He kept talking about his sister, his father, his daughter, food, his career as an educator, he was all over the place with information that we didn't need nor ask for, but he didn't really answer our pre-planning questions. In fact, the very first thing he said to us when we sat down was "I bet you're wondering where we keep the bodies, right?!" Which was the furthest thing from our minds and honestly, really insensitive. My sister and I were both so disgusted with how inappropriate he was, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. We met with a different mortuary nearby with staff that was so kind, compassionate, and focused on providing us with all the details and information we'd need, so we ended up going elsewhere. We really wanted to work with Miller Mies because of the location and facilities, but we simply could not imagine working with this man in our family's time of need. For what it's worth, they were also more expensive than the other mortuary, but that wouldn't have mattered, I was willing to pay whatever I needed to pay, if not for the funeral director's/salesman's inappropriate approach. When this business was on Downey Ave it was very good many years ago. Compassionate and followed through quite well. Most importantly understanding. However, after they moved to the Paramount location a few years back and. I recommended a friend who just lost her spouse to Miller Mies. I accompanied her and her adult children to their appt. ( things were quite different) . The staff to my SERP rose that dad was not as compassionate as they were prior. The experience was not positive. My friend left frustrated. My father (Manuel O. Redor) passed away a few weeks ago 11/8/19. His unexpected and sudden passing left my family and I in shocked, distress, and in so much grief. From the very beginning of choosing Miller-Mies, Vanessa assisted me in assuring my father gets transferred seamlessly from Moreno Valley mortuary. I also met sweet Jeannie- who was patiently helping us with paperworks and stuff... thank you ladies Then I met Ms. YESENIA MORALES, our amazing Funeral Director, difficult times like this, we were blessed with someone who is very understanding and patient with family members like us. The service that my husband received was very solemn and smooth. The pain of losing my husband is unbearable but because of their accomodation to us made it easier to go through with the pain. Patti is the nicest lady. She explained every details of the service. The viewing was supposed to be only from 3pm-8pm. But she made it as early as 2pm and up until past 9pm. We lost my father on Labor Day of 2016. From the moment we placed the call, the staff at Miller Mies was exceptionally kind, patient and gentle. They took respectful care of my father, and gently guided my family through the difficult process of setting up the services. They helped with all the arrangements, from coordinating the Church services, to arranging the Honor Guard services at the grave side with only 3 days notice. Herman was especially amazing. He showed us all the services we would need, told us what to expect, and NEVER gave us the hard sell as we selected flowers, the casket, and prayer cards.
