We ended up seeing SO MANY rays, they were even swimming under the boat. We sat and enjoyed the sound of waves lapping against the shore, the wind ruffling through the trees and rays splashing all around us. We ended up getting swept up by the experience for too long and my watch died, so we retuned the kayak late, but Cooper was really understanding. Next time I need to rent a kayak, I'll be coming back here. You should too.

They do this particular tour on nights when there's little to no moonlight since that is when you will best see the sparkling creatures in the bay. It embarks from Miller's Boat Launch near Nick's Cove in Marshall. It's not far from Point Reyes, so if you're spending time at the seashore, this is a magical way to end your day. They begin at 8 with very detailed instructions for your gear and paddling. Between that and then launching the boats in your group, you actually get on the water about 8:45 and return to the dock around 11 pm. It was a windy and foggy evening, so unfortunately, there were no sunset views. But the novelty of paddling in twighlight in to the evening more than made up for that. We had flocks of pelicans flying overhead and once we got to darker areas, the real star of the show came out to sparkle. You can see the bioluminescence light up as you paddle or run your fingers in the water. We stopped a few times along some coves and even saw the sparkles lap up on the sandy shores. We had 3 guides -one leading, one in the middle and one at the back to make sure no boats were left behind. The ride out was a bit choppy but we had paddlers of all levels in our group and everyone did okay. The guides made sure to check in with everyone and we'd count off boats to make sure we all caught up, We got to hear information about the seashore and the surrounding waters and the local creatures. The time flew by and it was such a wonderful, magical experience. If you haven't night kayaked, I'd definitely say to try it once. I hope to travel with Blue waters again and try one of their day trips, While it's important to dress warm and wear waterproof shoes, they do provide dry bags, a waterproof top and of course all the safety gear for your excursion.

The suggestion to take dry clothes for after the trip was appreciated. No way you can get away from getting wet.

We got to the meeting point early so we hung out. Workers were friendly. They quickly briefed us on the route and what to expect. Then we boarded the shuttle that dropped us off 5 miles up the river. We took a 30 min lunch break but the rest of the time I was paddling for about 3.5 hours! 5 miles doesn't seem like a long distance as I can run it in under an hour but this took us a long time! We were all relieved when we finally spotted the bridge around the bend and knew we had arrived back at the starting point! Plenty of parking in front street or across the street at memorial park.

While we have used different outfits lately - we had a great experience with Russian River Adventures a few years back, so we came in excited to return. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing, mainly due to poor planning by the staff. We booked for four people on a Thursday - my wife, myself, and our two teens (14 and 16)--with the expectation that we'd have two boats, which is standard for this group size. However, the team miscounted the boats that morning. When we pointed this out, instead of fixing the mistake, they pulled us aside and crammed all four of us into a boat intended for three, squeezing in an extra seat to make it "fit." Visibly frustrated, the team promised to speak with the owner and make it right (it was two high schoolers running it that day). I didn't argue and wanted to at least try to have a good time and not be that Dad. The result on the boat? A very cramped and uncomfortable setup that made the inflatable much harder to steer and navigate--especially on a 9-mile river trip. This wasn't the experience we paid for or expected based on our prior trips. The staff seemed more focused on moving us along rather than making it right. Still haven't heard from the owner. We'll likely explore other options next time around. Disappointed to see the service slip like this.

They have tent camping on a grasses area if that's what you are there for. There are a few full hook ups for rv sites as well. You are allowed to make a camp fire for your s'more and to keep yourself warm on those cool nights. It does get a little chilly and cold since you are by the beach so make sure you pack some warm close. If you are into fishing they will take your boat out and launch it for you to. The general store is fully stocked with all your essential needs if you forgot something or if you want to pick up to take home with you for a souvenir. The store also has coffee if you need something to get you going in the morning. The showers are clean and you also need coins to take a shower so make sure you bring some quarters. The beach is a few steps away with a beautiful view. We paid about $68 dollars a night but that is not with full hookups. So if you like camping and want to escape from the heat. Go heck this place out!

THEFT ALERT - I returned to site 209 from a day trip on the Peninsula and my camp was stolen. I placed 2 camp chairs on the tarp to secure the pile and left some other miscellaneous items to give further evidence the camp was occupied. I returned to camp and everything was gone. Gone! I recognize people are inherently bad, selfish, and entitled (see compliance with beach leash laws as a small example) but flagrantly breaking the unwritten rule of not fucking with other peoples' campsites is a new low. The money is not the issue (~$150 loss), its the evil, selfish behavior that is so shocking and disappointing. I hope the offending party rots in their own selfish delinquency and wish them nothing but the worst. I will not return to Lawson's.

There isn't a designated lot but you can either try to park near the visitors center (small amount of not timed parking) or along the street which is what we did. Decided to do some single kayaks. There is an option for either a 2 hour time frame or a 4 hour one. If you have the time then I would honestly recommend the 4 hour one. The routes that they have you travel are different (but the 4 hour also covers the 2 hour loop). Overall the water was pretty calm and we got to see plenty of seals. Recommend stopping by the beach, they'll point out where you can do so during the orientation talk, and walk along the shore to the seal and birds area. It's also a nice area to take a food break.

We heard about Duncans Mills Camping Club so reached out to the owner for a trial stay. We were able to book a two night stay for the same week. We arrived and were greeted by Tina, who helped us pick a good spot for our trailer that was near the river and close to bathrooms and other amenities. The site was large and flat which made backing our trailer in very easy. It had a fire pit, grill, and picnic table. It was a short walk to the river's edge and beach which also had a huge grass are that you could sit on near the river. We took a great hike which was less than 2 miles from the campground where we hiked up to a ridge and could see the ocean. After the hike my husband used the very large hot tub. We didn't use the family area or adult area but looked at it. It had games, books, pool table and other things to do. The fitness room was on the back side of the building and had enough equipment to do a good workout. We went midweek so there were not very many campers so it was very quiet and peaceful. Only thing we had to watchout for was poison oak. The staff was there cutting it back in many sites. All in all it was a great stay. Staff was friendly and available for questions, facilities were good (bathroom was very clean and spacious), and campsites were large. We got the information while we were there about joining the club and are seriously considering it due to it's close proximity to bay area, amenities, flexibility of booking sites and cost if we will use it as much as we are hoping to.
