Jenny is the best!…read more The most important thing to me in this type of interaction is communication. Of the FIVE Astoria realtors I called, emailed, and filled out forms for, Jenny is the only one who reached out to me. I know the dead of winter isn't the best time to look for a place but... She showed me a couple places I wasn't wild about but then we walked to the other end of the neighborhood to check out one that wasn't on the market yet due to renovations. We met the building owner that day. I signed a lease soon after, and she was there helping throughout the entire process! Highly recommended!

I'm surprised to see the glowing reviews on here of Jenny. It feels like we're almost talking about…read moretwo different people. I met with Jenny during a recent apartment search, which was in the first week of the month (specifically, we met on the 3rd). I was seeking an apartment for the following month. After showing me one apartment that I didn't love, I felt like she pressured me to like it more -- telling me how perfect the landlords were, how I wouldn't find anything else like it, harping on features that ultimately didn't matter to me. It was incredibly awkward, and I found myself repeating that it's simply a matter of preference. It turned out that this was one of two apartments she had available at the time; the other was in a completely different location than where I had wanted. After this, she told me that I had started my search for an apartment too late, and that most apartments for the following month were already rented by now. As someone that was needing to find an apartment during the busy summer season, this was a stressful thing to hear. I ended up quickly finding an apartment with the next broker I met with. More importantly, though, were the vast number of apartments that became available throughout the week and the month. (Of course it wasn't too late to find a place on the 3rd, how could I have believed this?) While I don't like writing negative reviews of people in the neighborhood, I'm posting this in hopes that anyone with a similar experience will take it with a grain of salt. There are so many apartments in Astoria and in NYC overall. Don't let anyone rush your search. An apartment is a personal and important decision. And most importantly: your options are not constrained, regardless of what you're told.

I've lived in a building managed by Alex for the past three years, and I truly can't say enough…read morepositive things about my experience with him and the Building Equity Management team. Alex is kind, understanding, and consistently communicative. He often replies to emails within minutes! Sokol, the super, has also been wonderful to work with. He's incredibly responsive, helpful, and always quick to address anything that comes up in the building. It's rare to find a team so reliable and easy to work with in property management, and it's made my experience living here seamless and stress-free. I'm very grateful to have had such a positive experience and would highly recommend Alex and the team to anyone.

I would recommend staying away from renting in a building managed by this group. Brandon Friedman…read moremade a conscious effort to keep our security deposit by billing us for "damages" that were either there before we moved in or normal day-to-day wear. Fortunately, we had dated photos of the apartment showing it was in the same shape as when we moved in a few years prior, and we were able to get most of our deposit back after a lot of back and forth. If you're a tenant in one of their buildings, I highly recommend documenting the condition of the apartment when you move in (missing screens in windows, small chips or scrapes, etc.). Otherwise, they will make every effort to keep your security deposit.

She wasn't pushy and thoroughly and honestly explained what to expect in the sales process (which for a co-op, can be lengthy). She also pointed me in the direction of an excellent real estate attorney that I used for the closing. Carmela also showed me some apartments years ago when I was buying. She listened to what I was looking for and didn't waste my time trying to sell me on places that weren't for me. I appreciated that honesty. Definitely recommend Carmela and Welcome Home if you are looking to buy or sell a home in the Sunnyside Gardens/Woodside area.

The person I spoke with was super professional, straight speaking but kind, and took her time with me. Her advice however was really discouraging and quite absolute - I was so depressed after getting off the phone with her- she suggested that I might look for a room for him to rent somewhere because with a budget of $2,000 and low credit on his part; that no one would really want to work with that profile or mine as an out of state guarantor. Merely 12 days later, he is now set up with a lovely studio in a nice building, one block from the train in Sunnyside for $2,100. The moral of this story is as "professional" as the professionals may be, consult more than one. Some are more open, more nuanced, more willing to find solutions and more apt to think creatively than others. Find the individual realtor and the real estate firm that best fits your outlook.

After…read morepatiently waiting for months and months while my parents went back and forth over whether to sell or not, we were finally able to stick to our plan and list and stay listed with Abigail and George. Within just one week, we got more than 10 offers, many above asking price!! We took the offer we liked the best and proceeded with the deal. Our biggest obstacle was cleaning out the house, so Abigail and George referred to us two great companies to help out. They also continually checked in the whole time, to see if we needed any other help whatsoever. When we lost an important paper, Abigail helped us get another copy and even printed it out for my Dad since she knew he was busy cleaning up and might not even have a printer working anymore. Abigail said she thought of my parents like her own and she meant it 100%! On the final day when they had to hand over their keys, my parents still weren't fully done cleaning out, so Abigail herself helped move things and disassemble things (I'm sure George would have too, but he was at another appt). She even stored some stuff into her own car and brought it over to my sister's to temporarily store for my parents. Where else will you find brokers as caring, thoughtful, and compassionate as Abigail and George? If you are looking to buy or sell in Queens, you must contact them. It will be one of the best decisions you ever make!

The photos taken of our unit were lovely, and I really think helped to increase engagement and offers. They were also very proactive and gave great advice in dealing with the stressful process of getting buyer board approval. We would absolutely recommend them for handling a sale! They were possibly the one aspect of the process that did not add to our stress but instead helped it.
