Just returning two things that turned out to be the wrong size for my DYI project involved me being told to walk to the back of the store to wait on someone to get and fill out a paper "return" form from the service desk. I then had to bring that form back up to the front for that guy to process. But it was filled out wrong, so I was sent back to the second guy to get the products themselves so the paper form could be corrected back at the front by the first guy. This rigamarole on top of not having friendly customer service dampened my enthusiasm for supporting a little place that makes you feel you've stepped back in time. I left without getting the correct size items for my project because I was then running late. Neither employee asked me if I needed something else instead. If you're not going to modernize your return processes, at least retain the helpful, friendly attitude.

The manager Bill came over and in front of three young cashiers that he was training said, "what are you trying to do, empty out someone's garage." Without the cashier having even finished scanning the items to see if they could be returned he had made his decision/judgement. I find his comment disinhibited, judgemental, and quite unprofessional. In a day where people can more easily shop from amazon or home depot down the street; the ones that continue to come to your store out of loyalty you lose with nasty managers such as Bill.

I first went to Menards and then Home Depot and they all said the same thing - we have the screen materials and tool kit but we don't do that type of work. In fact, Menards specifically mentioned Skokie Ace. So I came in and we got what I would consider a fair estimate for 8 of my screens. Now - could I have done this job myself? Of course, and I say that without flinching. The question was, do I sacrifice a Saturday afternoon to replace all of these screens? No, because I could be Yelping. I decided to pay for this work to buy some time. You may disagree but my Cost vs. Benefits analysis led to drop off all of my screens. I opted for aluminum this time and they were all expertly replaced in a matter of days. Excellent customer service by Carlos of Skokie Ace. I received two messages informing me to pick up my screens. In the words of Ace Frehley - your customer service has Shocked Me!!!
