After initially getting the worst tow truck driver from Valley Towing and Recovery who was so rude and unprofessional and not helping us with our flat tire in the end we called the insurance back again and ended up getting Oscar from Mill Valley Towing. He was the complete opposite of the other guy. Oscar was professional, helpful and polite. He even helped us put the flat tire back on the Jeep before he left. I'm sure being a tow truck driver is not an easy or desirable job but Oscar never made it seem that way and he never made us feel that we were a burden. They lied about their response time. I locked my keys in my car and called this company because they were very close by. They said 30 minutes and they'd be there. After close to an hour waiting, I called again and the man lied saying "sorry, they're almost there. Just 10 more minutes". But the truck didn't come for still another hour. It might seem like my only option, but it wasn't. My family was an hour and a half away with the spare keys, but I didn't call them because I was late and literally felt that I had to pay the $125 for the 30 minute wait than have to wait over an hour for my family to bring me my spare. (I bought tickets and was taking my nieces to a special event and now we were all waiting outside the car and it was starting soon, but we had no cell reception and had to wait by the ranger station to use their phone). In the end I waited 2 hours and paid $125 for it :/ Once the truck got there, they of course were very kind and quick in their service, no complaints about the 5 minute interaction there. Just very disappointed that the shop repeatedly lied to "keep" a customer when all I needed was an honest ETA. read more

I got a flat tire right outside of Mill Valley going towards Mount Tamalpais. I needed a tow to a tire shop and called them up. They said it would take a half an hour to an hour but after calling several times they said the driver could not figure out where I was, even when I sent a screen shot of my location on google maps. They started hanging up on me and ignoring my calls entirely. I ended up getting help getting my tire changed but ended up going over the shoulder and in a ditch. This company is the worst and cannot figure out where you are located, even though this was in their neighborhood. Get anyone else! They will not tow your car. read more

WTH????? These guys picked up my car for a tow at 9:00 this morning and TWO HOURS LATER they still hadn't reached my mechanic a mere 20 mins away. When I called Walter, he had NO EXPLANATION for it and told me his driver was "on his way." NOT very comforting and I completely missed my window for repair. They were 75 minutes later than they said they would be. When I called the person who answered said he would arrive in 15 minutes, then he didn't arrive for another hour. State Farm had to call them twice just to get an updated ETA. When the driver arrived he only had 2 gallons of gasoline even though I paid (and was charged) for 3. The driver was extremely rude. I would recommend not using their services. If I ever need roadside assistance in the future I will make sure that it's not from them. read more

These guys are great! And Oscar, "they don't call me because of what I do but because of what I know", that would be a direct quote from him and he is correct! He knows his stuff! After being left high and dry by Corte Madera Towing, they refused to help me because their driver got mad that I questioned him on his safety and asked why he wasn't just towing my car to the dealer, like it was supposed to be? Then a Mill Valley Towing flatbed shows up and while the driver is hooking my car up, another car pulls up and this guy jumps out and says "hey I have an idea! " And not only is he on it, but the suggestion he makes allows him to restart my car, he hops out and says "you can drive your car...it's fine "! It didn't actually need a tow. And even though my car dealer called him to come help me, after AAA's service provider Corte Madera Towing refused to help and said they would be paying him to come out to get my car BUT only if I had the car repaired at the dealer. Well my car did not to go to the dealer, and Oscar the owner refused to allow me to pay him even though the dealer would likely not! Oscar the owner is a great guy, his company gives great service and it was an overall great experience. And as it turns out he once worked for the mechanic who maintains my car...so win win! I was stuck on southbound 101 in Novato at 6AM on a Sunday morning. Not the place you want to be, especially when you live in San Jose. Anyways the towing company came fully prepared. Took them about 30 minutes to reach me. They had a professional jack, jacked my car in 5 seconds, changed my tire for me and jump started my dead battery on my car. Oscar is a class act. They go above and beyond by actually looking at the car, attempting to prevent the actual tow.... most guys are mindlessly set in the "I tow, or don't tow, or jump.. that's it". I know it's a worker's comp thing, and insurance issue.... but it's wonderful the extra mile they went in helping me figure out why my drum break was frozen. It certainly didn't need a tow into a shop for a couple days and $500 bucks.... it was just a drum break frozen a bit. Tony worked harder than he needed to to check it out, pop off the hard and fast stuck drum, and realize a little rust was preventing it from rotating. In fact, as he turned to walk away from my truck so that he could find a tool to investigate whether it was drive-able, I actually checked to see if a pair of wings were sprouting from his back. Not only did Oscar attempt to review the issue with the car in order to avert an unnecessary tow fee, he also provided me with an insight into the repair work which it needed, so I would not risk inflated costs. I had called numerous towing agencies in Marin, and Oscar's prices were the fairest, and his service level was unmatched. He was attentive & listened to my needs without sounding abrupt or rushed. The car, it turned out, needed brakes. I had driven it home solo from a very long road trip, with a broken ankle & managed to damage the rotor & caliper. Since Oscar was so friendly, accommodating & willing to clearly & articulately educate me about the work that I needed done, I opted to have him to the repair work, and he and I arrived at a price that was very agreeable, a timeline that was ideal for my needs, and even provided input about the car's maintenance needs, generally. Oscar runs the type of service & business we should all support, it truly makes for a better community. And, solid enough, I felt compelled to write my first review. So Mill Valley Towing was the THIRD towing company that came out to get my car towed to the dealership after my battery died. The two AAA trucks were not "equipped" to get pull the car out of the tight spot in the garage since there was no access to the hood and my car is all wheel drive. I found this place on Yelp and they're totally awesome. Oscar answered the phone and was friendly, clear and totally helpful. He sent a truck out to Fairfax to take our stalled car to a mechanic I'd chosen. He even had the truck make a special trip to where my wife was at so he could pick up the car key and drop that off at the mechanic's too! Now that's service! He was also able to tow our all wheel drive Audi while the transmission was locked up. These guys know what they're doing and they do it in a friendly, professional manner. I bought a brand new car, which turned out to have problems... It needed to be towed to the dealership twice in the first 2 weeks! In the first incident, the mfg's "Roadside Assistance" people were not very good. The car needed to go to the dealership in SF where I bought the car, and it took 6+ hours before they finally said it has to go to the dealer in Marin. They then lined up a tow and gave me an ETA of 60 - 90 mins. 90 mins later, I called back to learn they had inadvertently canceled the tow! I called Mill Valley Towing directly, and they arrived a few minutes later and towed the car to the dealer. Walter was the driver, and he had no problem dealing with the fact that my "smart" car would not allow itself to be shifted into neutral - he put the wheels on boots and got the car onto the flatbed. One week later, the car died with the same problem as before, this time on the freeway. I was stalled in a narrower-than-normal emergency lane with cars whizzing past very close. I called the mfg's "Roadside Assistance" again, with no better results... They got the location signal from the vehicle, but it was wrong. They dispatched a tow, and told me the ETA was 90 minutes! This while cars on the freeway are having trouble seeing me and coming dangerously close to hitting me!? So, I called Mill Valley Towing again, and Walter showed up about 10 minutes later with his flatbed. I then called Roadside Assistance back and canceled their tow... Walter took me to the dealership in SF as I had originally wanted (where the car was properly repaired). I gave Walter's bill to the dealer. In both incidents, Walter arrived faster than the competition. He was extremely professional and seemed to know his stuff. He got the car loaded onto the flatbed quickly and securely, and the car was transported to the dealerships without incident or damage. I handed the driver my AAA roadside assistance insurance card and come to find out this company doesn't accept insurance! When I asked him why he said for an accident like this no towing company takes insurance for the tow back home, only when they tow it to their yard. BULL!!! I know for sure other companies do because I've seen it first hand. This is nothing more than a company trying to scam their customers. I'm one of those bad Yelpers that always promise to write a review and never do. Bad, bad man ;) But today I just had to get off my butt and do it, 'cause these guys deserved it. I didn't catch the driver/owner's name but whoever it was --- wow, thanX a ton man! You really saved whatever was left of my day, today! I got myself into a very tight situation. Briefly: my humongo extended cargo van couldn't make the turn out of a customer's driveway, then tried to back up but the rear left wheel got tilted up and couldn't get traction. Called AAA, had a very very negative experience with the first outfit they sent out (Red Hill Towing I think it was. Honestly I was so stressed I'm not sure). I was completely stuck and their only AAA approved guy said he "couldn't help me", that I might need a forklift or a crane!! Wot!!? At this point I was desperate. It seemed like I had to go out of network. After calling around someone recommended MVTow, so I gave it a try. He got there pretty quick, was professional and competent, and got me home in time for dinner. It cost me $250 but after comparing it to the other options: Chinook helicopter airlift, taking it apart in pieces, or living in the now non-operational van, it seemed like a deal. Seriously, I can't tell you if they were the cheapest option or not. All I can tell you is that Mill Valley Towing did the job and did it well. read more

Worst experience ever. I called this place to pick up my work truck and they said they would charge me 195$ and they would arrive to my location in 30-45 minutes. I waited one whole hour and called back and they said they would arrive in 5 minutes. 30 minutes passed and they said the same thing again. They have the worst customer service. They showed up immediately, despite being at night, with a flatbed big enough to haul our crippled truck--not to mention a loaded horse trailer as well-- and towed us the 85 miles to our home.
