I have lived in this area for eight years. At the beginning of that time the meal house was the place to go eat. However, I found a reason for breakfast I asked for bacon that was not crunchy or cooked to death, but what I received was pre-cooked bacon. The waitress informed me that the bacon was pre-cooked and they could not fix it any other way. I will not return as I wonder how much of the food that they have is pre-cooked. read more

This unique true diner, nestled in the small town of Pelzer South Carolina is a hidden treasure. There are food is very delicious and a lot to choose from. I chose the meat with three vegetables and my partner chose the same only with two vegetables. I was in the mood for a turkey dinner with gravy and dressing, and I added fried okra, homemade macaroni and cheese, and their green beans. The turkey and dressing with the gravy was just like how my mother used to make it, green beans were very delicious and so were the crunchy fried okra. I'm a macaroni and cheese fan and this was delicious indeed. It also came with your choice of cornbread or a roll. I chose the cornbread, which was real southern made cornbread and yummy. My partner chose the fried pork chops with seasoned cabbage and a side of coleslaw with a roll all of which he said was excellent. Our server was very attentive, pleasant to talk to and gave us more information about the Diner and other foods that we should try the next time we're in town. While in Pelzer on Saturday we wanted lunch and didn't want fast food. A quick Yelp consultation led us to give Mill Town Place a try. The full parking lot let us know we were on the right track. This little spot looked like it had been someone's home. There was two area for dining. The cheerful waitress directed us a table for 6 (there were four of us). Our drink orders were there in a flash. This is a meat and two sided sort of place. When grandson 4 found out he could order breakfast he chose a pancake with sausage and ate every bite. Grandson 3 got a chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes. He said it was very tasty. I got country fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried squash. DD got hamburger steak with gravy and onions, mashed potatoes and cabbage. She had the savory brown gravy while I had the mill gravy. We decided that both were delicious. All great. I usually order a club with no tomato and not to press the bacon because my dentures move when I eat hard food. I'm Native American so when I get the money I go and always love when Jonathan makes them. The bacon is chewy not crispy. Also we get my service dog a hamburger and I mean a real hamburger they pay it out. It's not lab food. Oh and their fried green tomatoes are to die for. I don't even know they do that. My husband and I I went into Mill Town Place in Pelzer, SC.When we walked in the waitress said we could sit anywhere until she saw my service dog..Then she said we could sit outside. My husband asked her was it because of my wife's service dog. Flustererd she replied that service dogs usually ran around the restaurant doing what they wanted to bothering other people. We went and sat down and my service dog got under the table like he always does . Then we waited over 10 minutes with no menu . nobody even offered us a drink or a menu. We felt after waiting so long that the waitress did not want to serve us, because of my service dog. So we got up and left. We went to the clock and they welcomed us in . PS. other restaurants always welcome us in with open arms we have never had a problem they even ask if we need anything for the service dog when we are leaving. read more
