Location: It's very close to the beautiful Roegner Park and the off leash dog park, within walking distance if you are into that. It's also very close to the Lakeland shopping area. So location is prime. That is the ONLY positive.
Actual complex: Management was friendly and approachable with any concerns (mostly), maintenance was very prompt and pleasant anytime we required assistance. The actual apartment complex is getting to be dated. I can handle the aethetics, but when utility and efficiency start to lack- that's where I part ways. The fridge was either iceberg or moderately chill (and that's just one medium setting). The dryer is anything BUT efficient, the maintenance guy pulled out a ton of lint and fiber out of the tube (not just the lint trap- I clean that)when it didn't seem to be doing it's job. Why isn't that checked between renters or quarterly? The washer periodically smells like sewer. The carpets and other flooring was brand new- no complaints there. I'm not sure how long it was vacant, but it seemed clean. However when I cleaned before we moved in, it was a little grimey and dusty. Parking is plentiful, except on weekends when everyone stays over.
If you are unfortunate to deal with young partying upstairs neighbors who don't give a crap about consideration. Then Mill Pond is not for you. Managment is no help and complaining to the neighbors just makes them louder for their next Saturday party. It's quite obvious MIll Pond is catering to the younger crowd now since the aesthetics are lacking and idiot drunks don't care if their dryer is a hazard. So be assured any concerns about noise will be ignored or at best a band aid response.
Dog Owners: Yes- while pet friendly, there is plenty of room to walk your dog and they even have a pet station with complimentary bags and waste bin for said poop. THAT said- NO one except a few people actually clean up after their dogs. I'm not talking little poops either (although they are plentiful as well). I MEAN GIGANTIC DOG POOPS. It's very disgusting and if you have a picky dog who likes clean grass- good luck. Because either you or your dog will step in it on a regular basis despite extreme diligence and awareness a giant pile is lurking every 2-3 feet. Seriously THAT bad. So bad- management even sent out of a stern letter to all pet owners that if the poop level didn't cease they would charge a flat $50 to EVERY pet owner regardless of who was being irresponsible. I don't know about you but I am NOT going to be BLACKMAILED into picking up every pile of crap except my own dog's crap. The letter did not help anything either. It's disgusting so if you have a dog- good luck- I would avoid MillPond. Because there are a bunch of lazy disgusting dog owners who obviously think they are above everyone else and don't pick up after their dogs. I'm very disappointed in this aspect. ESPECIALLY with how much they charge for pet deposit and extra pet rent. That said- I do NOT think maintenance should have to pick it up either, people need to be more responsible. But lazy dog owners go with apartment buildings and I think the management just needs to configure that into the pet fees and pay for a service to pick up the crap. They do exist. Or offer that to a resident -ANYTHING to stop the excessive amounts of crap everywhere. When we finally moved- I had to worm my dog because it was THAT bad!
That said- we were always temporary and stayed here for about 5 months in between selling our old house and buying a new one. Had we intended for longer stays, we would have dealt more with the other issues in the apartment like the fridge, the dryer, the funky smell in the washer, the electrical outlets that are loose and hard to keep anything plugged in and a few other details. NO- actually had we planned on renting any longer- I would have found a single family rental house somewhere. Apartments suck. period. Our main reasons on choosing Millpond was the proxemity to work . That's all. The only deciding factor. Mill Pond is low brow. Period. read more
