Copperline is almost surreal it's so ideal. The apartments are well designed with huge windows and the space to entertain, live and enjoy. The sense of community is a sweet surprise after living in houses where you barely know your neighbors. The staff cares, and not just for show, I've seen them go reset an elderly resident's router, watch dogs and go way beyond the expected time and again. This is living - and the views?!? I have spent the last year (2021-2022) living at Copperline Apt's at Point Ruston in Tacoma. It has been an absolute dream. I was fortunate enough to be able to rent one of the best units (top floor, 2-bedroom with full water view and large balcony). It was amazing! The only reason I am leaving is because I bought a house otherwise I would have renewed in a heart beat! The apartment is gorgeous. Feels more like a condo more than an apartment. It has large windows, a lot of space and had brand new carpet when I moved in. The only minor critique I would make is the counter tops are Formica which cheapens the overall look of the apartment but I noticed they have been upgrading them in other units so it's only a matter of time before my unit gets them as well. The complex is incredible. You are literally feet away from a gym, moving theater, restaurants, hair salon, coffee shops and more. The complex also has a great game room, business room and new 24/7 package room. The on-site team is great! Amanda, Gabe and their office team are so nice and always willing to help. Maintenance is wonderful and often completed repairs same day. Overall absolutely loved living here. Would recommend this to everyone! read more

Words cannot express the gratitude I have for the office management at this office. Our move was quite extensive due to crossing state and country borders along with having our household shipped. Sonya and her team made the entire process simple beyond belief. She dealt with our questions and application process through multiple time zones. She has been incredibly understanding as we've had issue after issue with our movers and delivery companies. This process is normally so stressful for me, and I honestly feel as if I haven't lifted a finger. Sonya and her team go above and beyond for their residents, and too often without proper gratitude. The office and facilities on site are just incredible. We feel so safe here and felt immediately right at home upon arrival. We rented sight unseen, which is not my preferred route, but Sonya made it easy. Had we not had her help, I don't know that we would have chosen Copperline so easily. The website does a beautiful job of piquing interest I. The property. We were immediately entranced by the on-site movie theatre and the proximity of all the shopping and dining options. Not having been to Tacoma, or the Ruston area before, we didn't know what to expect. And we definitely were not disappointed upon arriving to scope our new residence. Sonya gave us a great tour and provided us with all the answers we needed. Prior to move in, she even took photos specifically of our unit so we could prepare! When we walked in, it was hard to shake the thought that it wasn't brand new and just built as if we were the first tenants. This just made it feel even more special and personalized. It was immaculate. We were actually surprised by how much space the apartment actually offered. I think we just feared the worst. Which made all the surprises on-site so much better. Most everything can be done electronically, from paying bills, scheduling maintenance and even opening your front door. The garage and stories of the building are also secure and require key entry. This was a huge blessing after living in Alaska the last four years. We're looking forward to finally being full time residents here at Copperline and taking in all that there is to offer! read more

We have lived here almost 2 years. We love the  convenience to restaurants and movies. Our view is spectacular and really helps my mental state through the long, dark winters. The apartments have ten foot ceilings which really makes the space feel bigger. The stainless appliances and modern cabinetry seal the deal. The apartment changed owners not too long after we moved in. The initial management wasn't very good....AND THEN Amanda, Gabe and Sonia came...I'd liken then to the apartment "dream team" they are all amazing!! And it doesn't end there Nick, Shannon and Greg are the maintenance crew and they keep things running in top shape. I honestly can't decide which one of these people I like the most. They are all beyond friendly. They always seem welcoming and greet me with a smile. They are all sincere about concerns. And if they don't have an answer they will find one. Issues (although very rare) are handled promptly and carried to completion. These people are the heart of this place! They make living here feel like home and not just another apartment! Sure it's a bit more than what you might find around town, but you get what you pay for! read more

We visited Copperline twice during our search for an apartment. We had some reservations about noise, but come from a larger city where apartment-living is the norm and figured we could deal with it. The finishings look nice and the remote-controlled air in the apartments is a nice touch. Despite our mostly positive impression of the apartment itself, we won't be signing a lease with Copperline. There were two leasing agents in the office during both our visits. The young man we had an appointment with was friendly and professional, but his associate was horribly rude. We just can't imagine having to deal with her on a regular basis. read more

Having just moved in a week ago after relocating from Alaska, I can only say that our experience has been wonderful. Sonya was more than helpful and accommodating while we were making all our arrangements from 2000 miles away. The whole team is professional and always willing to help. The apartment itself is immaculate and you couldn't ask for better surroundings. The area is still under construction with more businesses scheduled to open soon. The area is quiet, but with many businesses right out your front door. The apartment also provides access to coastal walkways and areas to walk your dogs. read more

I absolutely love living at Copperline! A year ago I visited Point Ruston for the first time and was surprised to find this hidden gem in Tacoma. The waterfront is so relaxing and filled with lots of local fun things to do. As a single person, it was good to know that I was surrounded with options for fun activities, even in the dark winter months. Movie theatre, restaurants, the waterfront, and Point Defiance Park are all within walking distance. The management staff also hosts lots of community events for residents which is a great way to meet my neighbors. The rent is reasonably priced compared to Seattle for what you get. My apartment is beautiful, clean, and safe. Parking is gated, and all entrances are secured. I have high ceilings, a balcony with a nice view, new appliances, washer/dryer, and....an AC unit!! I know....air conditioning in Washington haha :) The staff is also great! When I first moved in, Sonya and Gabe were super friendly and answered all my questions. On move in day, I had a house warming gift waiting for me in the kitchen. So sweet :) The staff made my moving process simple. Everything from paying rent to maintenance requests are online, which make it convenient. I still occasionally pop into the management office to ask a question and I'm always greeted by the staff with a smile. They are professional and approachable. Seriously wonderful people! I gave these apartments 5 stars because I'm so happy I chose this location as my home! read more

Bottom line,used to be a good place to live when the view of the water existed but shady and dishonest management and rising lease rates aren't worth the experience. Renters beware. PROS: -Good location and views. Some good restaurants within walking distance along the waterfront. Only a upper floor apartments, with a few exceptions (7th and 8th floor) now have a view of the waterfront due to condos built along the north side (even though everyone was told the view would be unobscured unless you were on 4th floor). -Good community. This experience could be different for everyone but I met a great group of people there. We even have a facebook page where we organized events. Why did we organize events? Well, because the management of Copperline said they would once a month. That quickly petered out so we started doing it on our own. Can't say enough about the good friends I made living there. -Gym and restaurant is located on the property. When I first moved in, I was told they would be ready in months. The gym is up and running now after numerous false opening dates were given. The restaurant/pub is great and a good place to meet for your fellow tenants and locals. The restaurant finally opened in late July/early August of this year. -Dayrooms. Great place for the community to gather. We'd all do this once a week and it was a lot of fun. We also got together for events such as the superbowl and community organized parties in these rooms. One caveat, the large dayroom once had a great view of the water. Now you stare into other people's apartment/condo windows. Layout of the apartment. I really enjoyed the balconies attached to my place. I had one attached to the living room and one attached to the master bedroom. I liked all the new appliances and the stacked washer/dryer combo. The kitchen storage space was a bit limited. No issues with closet space so no complaints there. CONS: -2 elevators. I took the stairs mostly because I lead a fairly active lifestyle and I liked that little bit of extra exercise. When I took the elevator, I was always prepared to wait minutes for it. If someone was moving and had the elevator locked, good luck. Wait times of 15 minutes aren't out of the ordinary. -Moving in and out was completely ridiculous. Moving trucks aren't allowed in the garage so they have to park on the side of the building. That means you have to carry your stuff (in some cases) hundreds of feet to the elevator, go down to the garage, then hundreds of more feet to the outside of the building. Be prepared to pay for exorbitant moving costs because of this poor design. -Shady/dishonest manager. I got along fine with most of the staff (in fact, most were helpful and personable) but the manager was extremely shady and dishonest. This person constantly made false statements, acted shifty and would miss scheduled meetings (I personally scheduled two with him and he failed to show up). They will also try to charge you for carpet. Be forewarned. I wasn't the first person this happened to but I am the first one fighting it, as far as I know. This carpet issue is still ongoing. I am working with the JBLM Housing Service Office, who is considering black listing the apartment pending APEX/Copperline's actions and legal, who are both advising me to fight this. I am very fortunate to have them behind me. They are trying to stick it to me, probably assuming I wouldn't fight it. But I am, if only for the principle of it. -Security. There is a security guard. He's a good enough guy but if he is security then I am the Easter Bunny. The garage gate was constantly broken and stuck open. Fortunately, I was friends with a lot of the other military/government, law enforcement and all around good people who lived there so I am sure we all had each other's backs. -Parking. Parking for guest is atrocious now. If there is an event along the waterfront or at the pub, forget about it. Speaking of parking, you are charged $75 per month for one space in the garage. Who else is going to park in there? Where else are you going to park if parking outside isn't ever available? That's just silly. -Thin walls and floors. I never had a problem with this. My neighbors and I were all respectful to each other. But, I spoke to plenty of friends during our events, or at the gym, or at the pub to know that they were constantly having issues with the lack of soundproofing. -Standards. In talking with the community, there was always a different standard for everyone. Some people had to pay $50 for parking, some had to pay $75 (everyone pays $75 now). Some people were allowed to have grills, some weren't (you can see grills out on the balconies...allowed or not?). Some people had to pay X amount for a room on Y floor and some had to pay a different price for the same place, on the same floor. read more

Don't be fooled by this place. It's in a very nice area, but you can visit anytime you want, without paying the ridiculously high rent, and putting up with all the other problems that come with living here. Problem #1: noise. You will hear every step your upstairs neighbor takes, day and night. The outside pedestrian and construction noise is constant: barking dogs, honking cars, kids on skateboards at 2am in the morning, car alarms, train horn blasting, etc. It's never-ending. Problem #2: parking. You can pay the $100.00/month to park in the "secure" lot, but don't be surprised if someone else parks in your spot. And the front-office management will do nothing. Meanwhile, you'll have to search for another spot in the always full public parking area. Beware when you leave on a Saturday to get eggs at the store; you won't be able to find a parking spot when you return. Ask anyone in the complex: parking is a nightmare! Problem #3: packages. The front office won't secure your mail packages, so you're stuck with front-door deliveries. They'll tell you how secure the building is, but it's a lie. Anyone can gain entry anytime they want by simply following others into the building. Security is a complete joke. They have had numerous break-ins over the years, but they won't tell you this when you are looking at the place. The area is a magnet for criminal activity. Read the Tacoma blotter report if you don't believe me. Problem #4: move-out expenses. They will try to bilk you for "damages/cleaning" when you move out, regardless of how well you clean your unit. Don't take my word for it - read the reviews. Problem #5: value proposition. For this price-point, you can get a much better place - in Tacoma or elsewhere. Move here if you want, but you will regret it. You've been warned. read more

My wife and i were enjoying the sun at point ruston and decided to pop into the leasing office unannounced to see if they were available for a tour (we were prepared to be turned down due to the time of day & not calling ahead of time). We were not even thinking about moving from our current apartment where we are completely satisfied. Well i can honestly say after being greeted with a friendly smile by Sonya and her also taking the time to give us a full tour during the busiest hour of the day when we didn't even have a tour scheduled ahead of time completely turned us into "Shoppers". we were able to see one of their floor plans with an amazing view of point ruston and are now seriously considering making the move as soon as our lease is over. The front desk staff is always so helpful with everything and very professional. Every time I have a question or need help with something they don't hesitate to help. As to the apartments: I love the look inside and out. Also if something needs repair the maintenance guys are always on it, so that helps a lot. If I need my patio cleaned they will be there to do so as well. In all, I have not had any issues or complaints myself. read more

Like camping out in a beautiful waterfront condo...Jan-April 2017 Management personnel are very nice, however I could not get them to respond to my problem within my unit. I finally ended up moving out and breaking their lease. The unit is a waterfront corner unit, (519) very quiet, great views, huge deck which also acts as a roof for the lower floors, so you will be required to cleanup large quantities of bird feces without a hose. (???) Fixtures and finishes are a real let down, however good but for that kind of rent? Management will remind you, "they do meet code". The exterior of the bldgs is first class, beautiful entry, good parking, no unloading zone for the property so be prepared to pay your movers off site delivery fees, (OOPS) I think the architect forgot that people do have to move in. I rented in the Century bldg, it's all same property. To sum up, if you can pay $2,700/mth for a 1 bedroom, killer views, fantastic location, and live with toilets designed for small children, (which they refused to change, and I offered to pay) this could be your dream home. The only way to describe this apartment complex is that it is extremely unprofessional and horribly managed. We were new to the area and work on Vashon Island so the commute was perfect and it was by the water. We understood that the rent was extremely more then what you could find off of Pearl street or a couple miles away. We decided to give it a shot and enjoy the beach and water access. When we first moved in the complex did not have any parking spots available but did have some parking on the exterior. The parking spots were $75 each per month which we thought was ridiculous so we decided to park outside and they gave us parking permits. As we were there they did a lot of development and built up a couple restaurants which started soaking up all the parking that we were told was deemed for residents only on the outside. This was quite the headache but we couldn't solve the issue because there still wasn't any parking spaces in the parking garage. As time went by they decided it was a good idea to mark all the parking spots that were originally for tenants 2 Hour Max Retail Only without telling any of the current residents mind you. It was my understanding this was to keep people from parking in residents spaces. Come to find out after parking there and getting multiple "WARNING VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED" notices, even with my parking pass, this wasn't the case. We were almost up on our lease but to avoid anymore notices we asked if there was any parking spots in the garage for our last months rent. There weren't any and they said they were "overcrowded" from the Condo complex that was just built and we would have to park in the garage that was built for the theater. This was outrageous. How could they care more about the retail business then there own tenants? Also god forbid you get any packages delivered to the leasing office, which is the only place you can get them delivered. They are never at the office and are always away from there desk so when you work 9-5 it is nearly impossible to get your package. Not only are they never in the office they have lost multiple packages and mishandled quite a few. Like I first said the management is terrible. Not only have they gone through about 10 different leasing agents/manager they have all been nothing but jerks and are very rude when you even do get the chance to talk to them. They never answer the phone and the manager who goes by the name Lee is a very condescending man. I understand that when management doesn't give a crap in a business the employees won't either and this cant be more then the case. To show you how horrible they are we had the owner of the house we are going to be renting call for rental verification and they gave them all the information of someone else who lived in the building. They didn't even show that we had pets which we paid the deposit on. What a joke. The lack of building cleanliness and there unwillingness to clean is also an issue. This apartment is pet friendly so there are a lot of tenants including myself with pets. This is never a problem because I love pets but when they refuse to clean the mess that they leave behind outside it leaves a very disgusting environment. I would also never recommend military living here either because they will not honor orders to break the lease. We are protected under the Civil Servicemen Relief Act and they don't honor any of it. All in all this place is extremely unreliable, unprofessional, expensive and not anywhere worth the headache for the money. I would never ever ever recommend this apartment complex to anyone! I just moved out of Copperline and I could not be happier with the last year of my life. The management team was nothing but helpful ( I don't know what the backstory is with these other reviews). Especially in one instance when I had a "particularly rowdy" neighbor. The leasing office was extremely helpful in getting them to be more respectful. All and all the residents here are amazing as well. Everyone seems to have a happy personality around here and I will miss the friendships I've made. hopefully someday I can come back here and purchase one of the condos. This community has so much to offer and they are still under construction. I'm excited to come back in 3-4 years to see how much things have changed! Great location is the only thing this place has going for them. Poor management and very high employee turn over. No matter how much you ask to have maintenance done on your apartment, carpet cleaned, refrigerator fixed, it will takes months, if at all! After you move out, no matter what they will take all your deposit and then some! My move out walk through was perfect. One year later, I was sent to collections for $135.00. A 2 bedroom less then 1000 square feet doesn't take 8 hours to clean! Then they will charge you for everything under the sun that they can..odor removal, $135.00, additional carpet cleaning etc... What a joke! Very expensive place to live and move out of. Moving in and out will take 3x as long, because you can NOT get a moving van in the garage...ceiling is too low. You have to have your moving van outside of the building and roll all your stuff through the garage, then take the elevator up to your floor, then roll all your stuff down the halls! Total hassle! And very expensive move in and out! Poor up keep of the apartments, cheap appliances, poor management and lack of professional support makes this place a NO to move in and out of! No place for your guests to park either! Beware of this apartment complex. read more

Management here is horrible. I don't think any of them are past their teens. I talk to my neighbors all the time and we all have the same complaints. One of the two elevators is constantly down. Our assigned parking spaces (which cost $100 extra per month) are frequently occupied by other people. They simply don't have enough spots. We are nowhere near public transportation so I don't know why they didn't think about that when they built the place. Our mail frequently is not deliverable bc of how the security is set up. I've actually had to buy a PO box for my important mail because of this. The internet is the slowest I've ever had even though I pay premium prices and have paid to have the service provider out to my apartment to check it out many times. My neighbors apartment and the hallway smelled like pot for months on end (its a no smoking building) and they did nothing to try to get rid of the smell or ask them to vent or partake elsewhere. I had security issues that were completely ignored and I ended up having to get the local cops involved on my behalf. The security guy is friendly but not at all "security." He's mostly just the scapegoat that management blames anytime theres a problem. No matter where you live, there will be noise to deal with all the time (the movie theatre, the train, the construction, the music on the promenade) as there is very little to no soundproofing. Every time I've tried to talk to management they just promise to get back to me but never do. Not once. NO follow through. I'm beyond frustrated with these people. This place is not what it appears to be. Guess I should have figured this out when I first visited the leasing office and the staff told me the shops and restaurants were all amenities of the apartments. The property sold a couple of months ago but things really did not improve with new owners and management. They don't understand what a secure building is when the stairwells are not controlled. Anyone can get into the garage by walking behind a car. I have run into several people in there that did not belong inside. The construction goes without saying the workers will run you over before giving it a second thought and don't ask about the noise. Too bad this place is not what it seems. Loved the area, but management was horrible. I paid for parking like everyone else, spot 167 hope no one parks there ever again for the duct above your car leaks! Over 2,000 dollars worth of damage to my car. Three months fighting them and their response, we did not build the garage so are not liable. Oh and two months after we moved out I received a phone call saying they sent me a move out statement. Saying I owe over 900 for cleaning and carpet replacement!
