This is an excellent apartment community to live in. The property manager & maintenance man are always really pleasant & friendly & quick to respond to our needs. Aleena (the PM) also works really hard to ensure the landscaping around the community is neat & well kept. Country Gables is located in a really decent area filled with great areas to walk if you are the outdoorsy type. The community is also fairly quite so we don't hear a lot of noise or disturbances throughout the day. Pros: Excellent & friendly staff. We'll kept landscaping & property. Convenient to everything yet tucked away as to keep out riff-raff. Pet friendly. People friendly. Good value for your dollar. Quick response for maintenance needs. Cons: This is a smoking community & people smoke a LOT, so if you like to keep your windows open, you get the displeasure of catching second hand smoke. Solution: either have a designated smoking area or require smoking off property. Pet friendly comes with pros & cons. Unfortunately many people on the property do NOT keep their dogs leashed so those individuals who do leash their dogs are faced with the frustration of having unleashed dogs attack at unexpected times. Solution: enforce the leash requirement in the lease. The apartments are older & often sound like they are falling apart. They don't ever answer the phone, have ads posted to view the property but when we went in person for our BOOKED appointment they said they have no units to show. Said they would call me in a week to come view the unit when it was ready- radio silence. Wound up finding a better place to live for a better price. But if that's how they treat potential tenants how do they treat the ones that actually live there?? read more

I was blocked from the page of Country Gables Apartments in Puyallup today because they didn't like my comment. That won't stop me from voicing my opinion. They are charging $1305 per MONTH for a 2 bedroom apartment and require you to make 4 TIMES the rent. That is $5200 a month. If you can afford this, you can afford a mortgage. The management is obviously petty. Take it from me, I have lived here. There are a ton of other places that give you more, charge you less, and aren't discriminatory to families just trying to make it. Trust yourself, get a MORTGAGE. read more

My fiancé and I have lived here almost 2 years, over all we've had a pretty decent experience. The apartments themselves are alright, not the worst but definitely not the best. The office is great, they leave you be for the most part and the encounters I've had with them have been pleasant. We have relatively quiet neighbors, which is a plus and overall the complex itself pretty quiet. We're moving at the end of next month to a bigger place, and the only issue I see is that the carpets are very cheap, and are lifting from every corner of our apartment. We have no pets, and try to take care of our place the best we can, and I am really hoping this won't affect our refundable security deposit. UPDATE **** After contacting us to get the address to our new home to send us the bill for some move out expenses, and us giving it to them in email AS WELL as over the phone they forgot to put our apartment number on it so obviously it didn't get to us in time and sent it to collections. This was a review I made for them on 01/31/2013 on another website, but two years later it's still accurate! :) I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about Country Gables, here's why: Due to a job offer, my boyfriend and I were moving from Michigan to Washington with just a couple of weeks notice. We were not going to be able to fly out prior to arriving in Washington, so I had to rely on other websites for pictures/layouts/prices and to see what people thought of the apartments. I called and emailed probably about 50 different places to inquire about pet policies, rent, utilities, etc. Almost immediately, I cut out places under a 50% rating...If I felt the rating was justified. There is NEVER a perfect apartment for everyone, but when 45/50 people are complaining about mold at an apartment, there's something to be said for that. Then I cut out the ones that were too expensive Moving from Michigan to Washington was quite a change for us. The cost of living is significantly higher out here and although we took that into account, I didn't want to be paying a ridiculous amount of money for rent. As much as I'd love to, we just can't afford $1500/month in rent. Then I cut out the ones that had a pet deposit that was too high. My boyfriend and I don't have kids but we do have two cats. I believe that paying $800 for a nonrefundable pet deposit is ridiculous. I don't think there's a reason for it, especially when I know my cats won't pee in the house and won't cause any more damage than a child would. (Country Gables was the second lowest pet deposit we found out of EVERYONE. The one that beat them only beat them by $25). That left me with about 10 places left, including Country Gables. (I should probably mention at this point that there were already about 50 emails exchanged between Country Gables and myself. They were BY FAR the ones that kept in touch the most often and didn't just try to sell the place. They answered my questions and didn't just try to shove information down my throat). Then we started really going through the apartment ratings and taking all the things like size, cost, and location into account. We immediately cut out about five more places. Looking at the reviews online, the only complaints about Country Gables seems to be that they try to make money and to keep your receipts. I hate to say it, but they are a business. Of COURSE they are trying to make money. As far as receipts go, if you're paying this much money per month and you don't keep your receipts, I don't feel that you are being responsible. I keep my receipts for EVERYTHING, even if I completely trust a place...It just helps cover your butt. Mistakes happen...It doesn't mean they were trying to gouge you or anything. When we decided to make Country Gables our home, the great service continued. Theresa and Sarah (who is no longer in the office) are simply FANTASTIC. The new property manager, Aleina (sp?) is just as awesome! We had to have everything set before we arrived so we could make sure we had a place to stay. Theresa sent pictures, answered all of my questions, sent maps, sent the lease, sent everything I needed. They processed my application quickly, rushed everything for us because of our situation. I literally have probably about 200 emails back and forth between us I was nervous about moving without seeing the place/area first and they really helped to calm me down. On top of it, and here's the kicker, when we knew we d be arriving late: THEY OFFERED TO STAY LATE. Theresa even gave me her cell phone number so I could call when we came in so we wouldn't have to spend the night in the car or another night in a hotel. Who does that? The customer service was OUTSTANDING. The place could have been a dump and I probably STILL would have signed the lease. (Okay, maybe not, but I would have thought about it)! :) When we arrived, we got to the apartment, and I'll admit, I was nervous. The complex itself looked like my old apartment back in Grand Rapids and I wasn't COMPLETELY thrilled with that place. We walked into the apartment and ALL my doubts went away. It might have LOOKED like the old complex, but it's NOTHING like the one in Grand Rapids. All the appliances were new, the bathroom was beautiful, everything was just PERFECT. Two weeks in and my ONLY complaint is that the kitchen is a bit smaller than we'd like, but definitely not a dealbreaker and it's no smaller than any of the other kitchens at the other complexes we looked at. I'm looking forward to maybe meeting some of the neighbors - Other than a small dog barking every once in a GREAT while, we don't hear a peep out of the neighbors. Long story short, I freaking love it here. I love the area, I love the apartment, I feel more at home here than I did at half of the other places I've ever lived. read more

Do NOT move here! Our time at CG has been nothing but stressful and expensive! The management in the office is so sneaky, deceiving and shady. They will do anything to get more money out of you. They kept important details about moving out, our lease, security deposits etc. Now that we have moved out and received our "move out bill" which is astronomically HIGHER than what we were told it was going to be- we received it LATE with only 3 days to pay the bill in full when we should've received it weeks ago. I am trying over and over again to contact the management office and the corporate office and nobody is answering! If this bill isn't paid in 3 days we will be sent to collections. Please save yourself the misery and money and move into apartments elsewhere! The management in the office is absolutely awful and it's clear that their corporate office is just as terrible. Unprofessional, rude, deceiving, conniving, careless assholes. read more

Absolutely amazing. Everything about this apartment has impressed me from day one. Let me start by saying that my girlfriend and I had a pretty bad experience with another apartment management company right before this, so coming to this place was a dream come true. My first experience was with Morgan, a front desk employee who has answered all my questions. This place answers the phone every time (unless they are touring), so I never have to fight to get answers. This actual apartment complex is amazing. We settled on a 725 sq ft. apartment, so it is incredibly roomy. The apartments are kept clean between residence occupations, so expect to have no issues coming in. The outside of the complex looks very modern as well. The complex is also next to as many resources as you could want. You can walk to the hospital in less than 5 minutes, and other shops are a short drive away. Sportsmans Warehouse, Walmart, PetSmart, Starbucks, many banks, and many more shops are nearby. There is also a Costco close by, but I am not sure how far away it is currently (I've been here for a week so far!). The only two cons I can think of is the mandatory carpool fee ($25), as well as high pet fees. Other than that, this place is perfect. read more

Lived at Country Gables Apt for few years and just moved out last month. I have to say I enjoyed living there a lot, great amenities and great office staff. I was a little worried to see how my move out goes because of a bad experience prior to moving here. Turned out I had nothing to worry about, the manager was great and went over every step of move out proses with me and I got most of my deposit back. Very happy read more

I took a visit to this apartment a while back. I was turned off by the rude employee who had an attitude with me when asking her questions. While visiting the premise in the afternoon, I was checking the place out, and saw playground in the middle of the complex where kids were yelling/screaming at the top of their lungs. The maintenance worker also looked bent out and not a happy camper. I decided to not select this apartment because after coming home from work, I need peace and quiet. read more

I visited the apartment complex and was interested in only one specific floorplan. After expressing my sole interest in the single floorplan I was told it would be available in my desired move in window and ENCOURAGED to apply and pay a holding fee to GUARANTEE me the apartment. The application was supposed to take 72hours, instead i received a phone call EIGHT days later. The clerk told me that my floor plan was NOT available and that a more EXPENSIVE one was the only apartment available during my desired move in date. What about the $100 I paid to hold onto my desired floor plan? "Thats just the nature of our business", they replied to me. Apparently it was never available, someone is currently living in the apartment I was GUARANTEED, and changed their mind after already submitting their move out notice. They should not have guaranteed me this apartment and if they are ready to guarantee it before someone moves out, then they shouldn't allow residents to change their mind after submitting a move out notice just ONE WEEK before they're scheduled to move out. This is shotty business, I feel i was tricked into paying $100 to hold an apartment that was never even available to hold, and $84 in background checks that took over two times as long as they should have. Not to mention how rude the employees turned as soon as I expressed I was no longer a customer and demanded my holding fee be compensated. read more
