I love this park and have visited it a few times a month for several years. It's an odd juxtaposition: a swamp, a bird habitat, a major interstate highway, and a skyline view of the city. Mill Creek Marsh is super easy to get to and park (next to the pick-up area for Bob's Furniture) and has one main trail with some smaller trails. Depending on your schedule, you could stay for a while or do a quick circuit in 30 minutes. Great for bird watching and just getting out into nature. Amazing beautiful park. 1) This place gets confused with Mill Creek Point Park which is next door. The ongoing pandemic has definitely taken a toll on a lot of businesses and public places since a consumer's mindset to buy anything outside of essentials or to visit a public place like a park or beach, has crippled down significantly. Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. It is now all the more important that we as customers, support these heroes during these dark hours to mankind. Want to experience a walk in a rustic setting? Then this is the best bet you can lay on the table in Secaucus. Google maps would take you around a mall's parking and you would start wondering if you are on the right route. The marsh is clearly a nature friendly and a commercial wannabe trail. It has a lot of walker friendly placards that give info on the various flora and fauna that the marsh hosts. The walk is a good 1.6 mile if you make a full round trip of the trail. It has few bridges that run over a lake and you can stop by to take great shots. The place is also a great spot for sunset views and you can occasionally spot some herons on the marshy lake. You won't find a lot of bugs as long as you keep within the trail and from walking into the bushes. This is a great trail amidst an urban setting and something that will look even better with a commercialized revamp. May be they just wanted to leave it in its natural self. read more

This is such a great spot to come for a walk, breathe and be peaceful. You won't see many people here, which it's honestly the best part (I'm not anti-social lol). I love coming here with my dog Thor and we normally walk the trail, he runs on the fields and then we cross the bridge which pretty much is empty and it makes your feel at peace. If you come here in spring, I'm sure you can find some beautiful birds, etc. I've been here a couple of times and I love it more each time so that's a good thing and the best part is that is not even far from my home, literally less than 10 minutes away. I seriously cannot wait until Spring where it all starts getting green and appreciate nature's beauty! read more

Be careful: This site combines/confuses two trails, both in Secaucus. Mill Creek Marsh trail is right off Rt 3, at the back of the mall where Bob's Furniture Store is located. Park there. Mill Creek Point Park is about 2 miles away, on the shore of the Hackensack River. It is the starting point for the Secaucus Greenway and the northern terminus of the Hackensack River Greenway in Hudson County. You can often spot Bald Eagles from the greenway. Photos mix up the two. Both are terrific nature trails. On Saturday, June 29, Hudson County Sierra Club is holding a Nature Walk at Mill Creek Marsh trail. Meet at 10 am. What a cute little park to unwind in after a day of shopping at the massive mall nearby. It's beautiful. And frankly, it's great to see marshland used for something other than rhetorical flourishes in political speeches. It's such a peaceful and the little boardwalk area is a great space to pause and take a deep breath during these crazy times. read more

This is a beautiful little park tucked away in an unusual location, but always a tranquil place for a walk! It's very well maintained, and is a great example of how land can be reclaimed with care and vision. Much of it used to be woods, which were clear-cut by the mill that was there a long time ago. Dozens of tree stumps are still visible in one of the marsh areas - part of this park's strange charm! PLEASE NOTE: this park has been confused in these listings with MILL CREEK POINT PARK, which is 2 to 3 miles away by car (depending on what route you take). Many of the photos posted here, and at least two of the reviews, are for that other park, which is a great little park in its own right, but with a very different character. I've reported these errors to Yelp, and they did correct the address, but they weren't willing to correct the reviews or the photos. So, if you're curious, visit both parks - you can't lose! read more

I love little hidden nature spots like this. The entrance is located in the Mill Creek Mall - right next to Bob's Furniture. There is a little parking area or you can just park in Bob's. There are several trails where you can see all sorts of wildlife and read about it. I came in the winter but I saw a variety of birds and a couple snakes. A man also told me there's a fox that lives on a little island but I didn't see it. Very tranquil and relaxing. I'd prefer to come back when the weather is warmer. read more

It's a very nice walking trail in the area. Well maintained dirt paths that's flat and easy to walk for anyone. Plenty of parking right at the entrance. We took the long path at a very casual pace and took about an hour or so. There's a highway that runs along the marsh so it didn't feel like we were immersed in nature but the view overlooking the marsh is nice with lots of birds. read more

I absolutely adore this place on a warm sunny day during my lunch break! You can sit by the water, there's people here on boats, people fishing, doing yoga, relaxing on the grass, eating lunch at the tables, kids playing on the jungle gyms, such a lovely place. There's a bridge trail that runs for about 2 miles one way, perfect for a run or stroll through the park. read more

Fabulous cool little secret park nestled away in Secaucus. I am a huge fan of some of these small parks in and around the NJ Meadowlands. This one is really clean, has a great play area for kids too. Picnic tables dotted around and a couple of new sheltered gazebos with tables and benches. There is a boat ramp for small crafts, canoes etc. There is also a pretty cool walkway theat leads to a really nice trail. Lots of little wildlife here, ducks, birds, turtles and little muskrats that are scurrying around. Happy that I found this great little slice of nature not so far from home. read more

Just for clarity This is Mill Creek Point Park..What a beautiful slice of nature in a place you would not except it...if you needed a reason to move out of the city into the surrounding suburbs this is it. ! There are interesting views of manhattan and being NJ you'll get as always views of oil drums and industrial factories. It is definitely a nice place to get lost in and feel nature's calm. Nice park in Secaucus .Across the river from the place you get on the Meadowlands Pontoon trip but not that easy to get there from that point in Bergen County.It was very hot the day I went and i could not walk the full length of the trail.I'll have to try to cover this more thoroughly at some point. read more

It was easy to find. Next to Bob's Furniture in Mill Creek Mall. Great for walking, jogging, or running. I ran two laps around the whole marsh almost 3 miles. It's a dirt trail, great for my runner's knees. Absolutely no impact on my knees. If it wasn't 90 degrees I could of ran 5 miles. I can't wait to go back. Great for bird watching. read more

Excellent trail for a Sunday nature walk. Nestled between the NJ Turnpike and The Mill Creek Mall Shopping Area, you would never know this placed existed.on this Day (August 2015) it was a bit hot, but once you walk under the trees (on the east side of the trail) it feels quite nice. Great area for bird watching. A couple of bridges to cross over and some log benches under the shadiest part is very nice and relaxing. I love this trail made of fine gravel and easy to walk on. Will be coming back to see this in the fall. read more

This place is a hidden gem. The entrance is right behind Kohls. The red dirt trail is well maintained. It was an easy place to get to from Weehawken on a Saturday morning. My dog and I completed the park in about 45 minutes. During our walk we saw many, many birds and enjoyed the scenery. She did get pretty muddy when she moved to the sides of the trail. It does have a bit of a swamp smell but it is a swamp after all so thats to be expected. I think its a great place for jogging as its a nice, soft, dirt trail. I am not sure of the length but I estimate about 1.5 miles. read more

I live in Secaucus and love running here. It's a beautiful/creepy hidden gem with a city skyline view. It's very Tim Burton, especially on a foggy fall day when you see all the left over tree stubs in the marsh. They were all cut down to build Paterson Plank Road. read more
