First time on this park & i like it. Perfect for walking or running. There are benches if you just want to chill & enjoy the view. Felt safe. Lots of people around, walking their dogs or just taking walks. Parking is free and we got no problem finding a spot mid morning on a weekend.

Been coming to this park for years, it's a great park to walk, jog, for picnics, they have been remodeling in some areas but I also think they need the "Carry in, Carry Out" program, plus vending machines, to prevent dehydration, and a fountain for the birds...

So this is the opposite end of the county park that starts (for me at least) at the dog run in Ridgewood (see https://www.yelp.com/biz/saddle-river-county-park-dog-run-ridgewood). 6 miles of meandering, paved walkways marked in tenths of a mile are great for timing your run, biking or a walk. Plenty of playgrounds along the way with restrooms, water fountains, gazebo's, basketball courts and even a tennis court -- all free for your amusement. Plenty of benches to chill and nice views of the river. When I'm not walking the dogs -- this end is the a six mile mark for my biking runs. Weekends in good weather can be a challenge -- with all means of locomotion competing for space on a fairly narrow path.

Great park for both adults and children. It is well maintained . Ideal for those who like to run or those who simply want to walk with their pets. I always feel safe strolling in this park. Parking is also never a problem, they have various spaces in different areas of the park. A lot of greeneries and fresh air , ponds and playgrounds for the family.

    Beauty of a park.

City needs a designated bike lane. It's now more crowed than ever. Worry about the youngins on the road with speed demon cyclists. All this park needs Is a painted line in road. With so many families outside now, park must designate bike lanes. This is not the palisades parkway!

Awesome park in Bergen County to check out!! Park features a huge lake, playgrounds, baseball fields, walking/biking paths etc. Perfect outing for picnics, families, exercise, and more. If you're in the area, it's worth checking out!

Nice spot to relax and if you're into Pokémon a challenging gym.

I really love this park, every time we go we see something new. Pet friendly, bike and jogging trails. The perfect afternoon.

Ask the Community - Saddle River County Park

Is there some sand by the water for my kids to play in?

Not that I know of, no, I would love for the park in general to add a water sprinkler/Tot Lot Center instead..

The trail is paved and next to the stream, parallel with Paramus Ave. It goes through Glen Rock, Paramus, Fair Lawn and Rochelle Park. It splits in a few areas and there's a few different entry points and parks along the way. The path could be busy. I think most the walkers are annoyed at the bike riders for passing them by quickly, but the riders are annoyed at the walkers for taking up space and not staying to the right. In the map, you can see where the trails splits and can take the alternate path. It was great for a bike ride, except I walked it in a few areas and hopefully I don't get poison ivy. There were baseball fields, basketball courts, pavilions and an abandoned tennis court. There was a waterfall, a lookout tower and a building from the 1800's. The underpasses/bridges were nicely boarded and the trail is very clean. This park is very basic. There was nothing extraordinary about it. I think if your in the area and it's convenient to walk or ride through, it's nice, but it's not worth going out of your way.

First, the park probably has the LARGEST playground I've everrrrrr seen at a public park with multiple playgrounds WITHIN the playground itself. As you can imagine, it gets quite busy on nice weekend days. Surrounding the playground are many pavilions and picnic tables for those that want to have BBQs or large gatherings, which can be had with a permit. In addition to one of the best park playgrounds, the Bergen County Zoo resides inside of the park, which is free to EVERYONE during the colder months of the year. During the warmer months, there's a small fee for Bergen County residents and non-residents. If that's not enough, there is a miniature train ride that takes people around the entire park for a small fee. And, let me tell you first hand that the train ride is actually quite long at 5-7 minutes. Nearby, there is also a carousel that you can ride on for a fee. And, guess what?? There's even more! There is a barn with ponies that let's people ride the ponies for a fee as well. There are also jogging, walking and biking paths too along with a few tennis courts. Besides all of the permanent amenities, there are also events during different times of the year including the Winter Wonderland, which ... surprise, surprise ... takes place during the winter months. If you're worried about parking, no sweat, there are multiple large lots inside of the park, so once you arrive you can start your day asap. Like I said, DEFINITELY one of the best public parks in all of NJ.

We parked in back and walked through the park, which I now know as Mary Ellen Kramer Park. It was sad and depressing then. Lots of garbage and not inviting. Over the last two years it has come along. New signs, tables, better grounds maintenance. The two buildings on the property still need some love and new roofs, but it's getting there. After checking out the tables, I took the Paterson Great Falls tour. It introduced me to the original mill house and Raceway across the street. A waterway that diverted part of the Passaic towards the bustling silk mills. I had never noticed either before. The tour ended at the Paterson Museum. Great exhibitions on baseball, the silk trade, and the Wright airplane engine factory. Next, I took a tour of Hinchliffe stadium, the newly revamped local home of minor-league baseball. After that, and this was my favorite, I took a tour of Lambert Castle. It's on Garret Mountain, and is still under reconstruction, but what an amazing place! History, architectural details and a beautiful view. Coming back to the park, there was a food truck with hotdogs and hamburgers. I sat at a picnic table and enjoyed the cool breeze while watching families have fun. The Park is definitely getting the facelift and attention that this historically important area needs. Can't wait for the construction along the Passaic River is finished and the walking trails are usable. It was a great event!
