This is one of my most favorite parks! It's beautiful and clean. I have seen plenty of wildlife here too. Osprey, Deer, Chipmunks, Ducks, Geese, Bunnies, Woodchucks along with many beautiful birds and butterflies. We start in Saddle Brook and wrap around up through Ridgewood. By far one of the most expansive and well-maintained park systems around. I fortunately live in close proximity to the park, and by far it is one of my favorites in Bergen County. This park links up with Saddle Brook's Saddle River County Park all the way to Ridgewood's Wild Duck Pond. This is the perfect location for those who love to exercise by bike, running or simply walking. I've been coming to this park since I was a boy. It was built in stages over the years..... it's actually several parks that have been linked together by a nicely paved and well maintained trail. The park starts in the town of Rochelle Park (at Railroad Ave, near the entrance of Rt. 80) and winds though the towns of Saddle Brook, Fair Lawn, Paramus, Glen Rock and Ridgewood. Trails are mostly flat with a few small hills. If you do the entire loop from top to bottom, including all the side trails, it come out to about 18 miles....according to my bike's cycleputer, which is properly calibrated. The park has a number of amenities that offer something for just about everyone: Baseball fields, basketball courts, playgrounds for the tikes, tennis courts, roller hockey court, ponds that allow for model boating(electric model boats only), fields that allow model airplane flying (electric planes only with proper permit), picnic areas, and streams that allowing fishing (in season and with proper permits). There is a fenced dog run (bark park) located at the Ridgewood section. Public bathrooms are open year round at several places along the trail. Water fountains are available during warm weather. During warm weather months you can find snack and catering trucks located in the Saddle Brook and Ridgewood areas of the park. Someone mentioned that there is a swimming pool located in the Rochelle Park section....IT IS A PRIVATE SWIM CLUB AND MEMBERS ONLY. There is no swimming allowed by the public in any part of the park. While this park has a lot to offer, it does have a downside: It is so popular, that it can be VERY crowded on weekends during warm weather months. If you are a serious cyclist, you should only think of using the trail very early in the morning during spring and summer. On the plus side, the trail is plowed during the winter. If you don't mind cold weather, you practically get the park all to yourself during winter months. Car parking lots are available off Railroad Ave in Rochelle Park, Saddle River Road in Saddle Brook, Paramus Road, Paramus, Prospect St, Glen Rock and Ridgewood Ave, Ridgewood. read more

Loved this place. Amazing place to walk. The trails have signs informing you the distance you have walked/ran. The place is clean and pretty. However, only thing is, there are too many dogs, and people let them walk/run free without leash. read more

Beautiful, scenic community park. As many of the previous reviews state, there is lots to do for anyone. If you're a biker or runner, the trails are long and nice (but get uneven and unpaved towards the end, in Ridgewood). If you're a parent with kids, there are nice playgrounds and sometimes an ice cream truck to grab a snack from. I have seen people fishing, although I haven't done so myself. I would recommend having some insect repellant, as there can be many annoying little flying things in your way if you're biking fast. But a great place to spend a few hours any day. read more

This park with a fairly lengthy paved trail selection is great for long walks, running, or biking. Parts are as wide as a two lane road paved for easy access with no cars allowed. The section around the little pond is very scenic and nice for a shorter segment of walking. The entire park is very pretty with lots of tree cover and water areas around. I visit this park when I am visiting family in Jersey. I just got into running and this park is perfect for long runs. It does have hills but they are just enough to get a good workout. This park actually consists of several parks connected. It is easy to get lost if you are not paying attention. I was able to get in a 10 mile run. Its very clean and has activities for children. It has several ponds and other scenery. Many come out to run,walk, ride. The sidewalks are wide enough for it all. read more

Considering how crowded Bergen County is, this park is a godsend for cyclists. Weekends are a bit crowded and bike trails get crowded with walkers, but weekdays are pure heaven. read more

I like this park. It's small, but nice. I also like the location - Saddle Brook is a pretty decent town. I come here every year for the ALS walk to support my friend who lost a loved one. They really put on a great charity event. The park is the perfect size for the event, but it's getting bigger every year. read more

My favorite go to park in the area. Perfect for any season for a nice walk. It is true from the other reviewers that the bikers can nearly run over you, especially on the more narrow trails but most of them will warn you with their bells or verbally. A good workout is from the beginning in Rochelle Park to the otto pehle area and takes around 45 minutes. Lots of playgrounds for the kids and plenty of fields. My goal this spring/summer is to walk the entire path from Rochelle Park- Paramus/Duck pond area. Will need at least 3 hours! read more

Great place to take you little ones. The park has a lot of shade which is important in the summer.

Great newer playground for the little ones and nice walking path around a small lake type area. Didn't get to explore much more as it was a chilly day but definitely will come back in the spring. Great spots to eat nearby or bring a picnic, they have tables. read more

Bathroom smells of stale cigarettes, so if you have to wash your hands, bring sanitizer. I've seen many ominous looking people walking past me. Good paved bike paths and nice playgrounds for the little ones. read more

Love this park, we visited all the sections. Favorite place to bike and the kids enjoy walking the shady trail, you can get lost, so we didn't stray too far away. By day, this park is home to a veritable Safari Zone surrounding the lake. Three gyms and a massive amount of Pokestops will keep you busy and happy in your quest to catch em all! Sadly, the park closes at sundown. This is enforced. My group of trainers were directed to leave by the town's police (and they didn't even send Officer Jenny) as soon as it got dark. So don't come here for night time adventures. read more

When Yesterday with the family... My husband and I with our kids 5,b8, and 9 year old for a bike ride and we love it, we have so much fun

I actually came here by accident. I'm a rockland county native and wanted to attend the flea market at metlife stadium this past saturday. when I went, I brought my boston terrier with me. however, they ended up shutting the market down at noon so I did a u-turn and followed the route wrong towards my house and ended up somehow passing this park which caught my eye. I have never sat down on a park bench for nearly three hours, just watching so much activity. everyone was coming up to my dog, giving her treats she made a lot of new friends. I had ice cream. I also had my mom in tow. boy, there are characters at this park that you will never see anywhere. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. lots of dogs, many bicycles, it's really an adorable spot. Inka; my dog, met a little three month old boston boy and I exchanged numbers with them. you could honestly sit on a bench and just observe people and create a novel in less than half an hour. the walk around the lake is beautiful. the only downside to this spot is some of the elderly that come here - there's one group that come with an off leash rottweiler and they seemingly just lure people in, leeching off peoples energy. they just don't feel right and most dogs just bark at them; we all know animals have good senses. they usually bring the smaller version of an african grey parrot with them. once I saw a man hitting his puppy golden retriever and I was about to go smack him upside the empty head. otherwise, there are a lot of elder male pedos walking around. I was constantly being nagged by them but gave them brief conversation and walked away. the younger the girls, the faster they initiate contact with them; so watch your kids. I'm being completely serious. one of them came up to give my dog a biscuit and he just kept looking up and down my privates as I was sitting on the bench beside my mother. the five stars are because this place is really fascinating from a psychological standpoint. it's just a place meshed with such an oddity of people. coming back when the weather isn't bipolar. read more

I love this park. The Saddle Brook section seems to be in great shape but the Ridgewood path is pretty bad which is surprising when you consider tax dollars$$. First is the bridge that connects the Ridgewood part from the Glen Rock/Fair Lawn part. There are loose boards coming up, exposed nails popping out, and the wood is all splintered (don't want to put your hand on it). Also in the Ridgewood part there is litter everywhere along the water and in parts of the grassy sections that it looks like noone has ever maintained. I was suprised to see how dirty the water was, it looks like noone has picked up the trash and plastic in a long time. Also, the path in Ridgewood needs to be paved badly it's all bumpy and uneven. Eroded. Difficult to ride. I was happy to see when the Ridgewood part was closed during the summer, I was hoping to see some things fixed but no...still there. read more

Great park to excercise without worrying about vehicular traffic. It's very well maintained even in the winter with snow removal. Abnormally heavy rain will flood certain low lying sections which is rare. On busy weekends, you need to be at least minamally aware of your surroundings when faster people pass on the left. Working water fountains at certain central locations. read more

I have been going to Saddle river park since 2002 . It is a pleasant park, to walk, bike riding, jogging, walk our dogs .It is a wonderful place for kids, there are a lot of space, a new playground , there are bathrooms just next to it, and nice picnic tables all over. The park's trees are beautiful. My favorite season on this park is Fall, it becomes so gorgeous . It is a huge park, and it feels very nice to bike riding there, since we are able to see a lot of nature..I would try to make the lake more attractive ..a bit more modern .but overall it is a beautiful place to be. I never had any issues at the this park, it is always pleasant Mostly this park is great for exercise , since is quiet, no cars and it is very safe which is a big plus for me. I feel very comfortable going there at 5 am, where in other places I wouldn't..Safety is something very important, and luckily this park is safe and it near my house. read more
