    Valbona X found a turtle.

It's a small park around Dahnerts Lake. There are gazebos along the path around the lake as well as restrooms and a children's playground. I didn't see a parking lot so I think you'd have to find street parking. There are a few shops around, it's nice to grab a coffee or something across the street to sip on while walking the path. There is lots of goose poop lying around, so watch your step. See if you find a turtle in the lake while you're at it.

Do you need therapy but are unable to find a good therapist? Well, coming here and walking around the track ten times isn't as good as therapy but it sure as hell is better than watching television. Geese and poop everywhere but you are sharing the habitat so its to be expected. I walk here everyday before sundown when its sparsely populated and i can listen to music and talk to myself and the geese. There are much better places to walk but it still has a certain lonely charm to it that i will consistently gravitate toward until something else fills the void in my heart. Did i mention the geese here are fearless?

Good place to come if looking to take a stroll around the "lake" or have the kids play on the swings and other equipment. I see they have bathrooms but never checked them out. People also come here to fish and catch some sun during the warmer months. Park seems well kept except for some graffiti in the gazebo.

It has a nice playground for kids..but if you're not a kid or don't have children I would go somewhere else. The lake is the color of mud and while the geese are beautiful to look at there is no circumference that is not covered in their poop. By the end of my walk I had been defeated and just accepted my fate of having geese poop on my shoes. We did find a few turtles though in the lake which was a pleasant surprise too bad they had to be swimming next to plastic bottles. Must take some type of special person not to throw a bottle in the garbage cans provide.

Seen some smoker turtles near the gazebo and there seems to be a large snapping turtle near the far gazebo.

My coworker told me that it's possible to walk the entire expanse of the park by connected paths. There is a path that begins at Railroad Avenue, winds along the river for about a mile, and then links to a footbridge that will take you towards the Otto Pehle Area (Fairlawn). Before the footbridge, you'll see a baseball field, tennis courts, areas with picnic tables, and a gazebo. You walk under the Garden State Parkway (you can see the GSP signs for exits 157 and 159 from the path) if you keep heading north. The paths here are pretty wide, so there is ample room for walkers, joggers/runners, dog walkers, skaters, bicyclists, etc - all of whom i saw this weekend despite it still being February with brisk, chilly winter weather. It's still an active park. Nice vibes!

There are several different entrances and available parking. Great for a brisk or leisurely walk, or bike ride. Walkers stay to the right to give cyclists passage. Plenty of shade, open areas and benches for resting. Walk as much or as little as you like.
