Today I made arrangements with my teammates to go to the batting cages. Only four of us were available for practice and going to a field would have been kind of useless. So I went on Yelp and began to look up nearby locations and this is the first place that popped up. Took a moment to look at their rates and was pretty impressed with what I found. Great place to keep in mind if I ever have a kid because the staff is full of professionals with prior baseball and softball experience. Early this morning i made a reservation and I took a deal today which was $50 for one hour. With the $50, you get one lane and can have up to six people with you. Once inside I went to the register in the front. Payment was easy and the man helping us was extremely nice. Everything was all set up for us when we arrived. The guy at the register was more than happy to also adjust the machine to our needs whenever we needed it. I liked this as opposed to a regular batting cage because you have the ability to adjust the pitch. In total, there are four lanes inside the facility. For an hour the four of us were able to take more than enough swings (it wound up being only $12 a person). I was kind of disappointed we didn't bring gloves because we could have even thrown around a little bit! Next time! The one thing I would like to point out is that facility is not for individual use while batting. You need someone with you to feed the pitches to you. All and all, I consider this place a homerun! I will be more than happy to return in the future!

My first time at Metlife was back in 2019 for BTS, and I recently came back... for BTS again…read more There's multiple ways of getting to the stadium - by NJ transit train, bus, car, or parking nearby at the American Dream mall and walking there. I took the NJ transit this time and it was pretty chaotic but highly preferred over a bus or having to find parking there. They adopted the system where you needed a wristband to use the train, but it wasn't a good system for the people that didn't take the train to get there (alot of people went early using other methods for merch or for VIP entry). They should have trains run earlier next time, not starting at 4-5pm. Or have a clear area to get wristbands at the end of the event - there was no clear signage for people and they were confused and blocking the people that already had wristbands and were trying to get to the trains. Metlife itself is a pretty cool stadium, I like that it has an open top because we got amazing fireworks during and at the end of the show - something that some other stadiums couldn't get! Fairly easy to find your seating, and it doesn't feel as far from the stage as some other stadiums when you're sitting in the 100s. We were also thankfully allowed to enter through any gate, instead of just the one mentioned on the ticket. The food wasn't anything spectacular and could be way better for the prices they're selling at. Chicken tenders tasted like elementary school cafeteria food and the pretzel braid was dry.

There's about 9-10 tennis courts, so you can usually find an open court without a wait compared to Hamilton Park in JC where you normally have to wait an hour regardless day/time. Along with tennis there's a decent playground for the kids, a baseball diamond (maybe 2), bball hoops and some picnic benches. Not a lot of open space to run around on grass, but nice if you're looking for recreational sports. Not too far from the elevator from the 9th St. light rail, definitely a gem!

The park has been cleaned up quite a bit. They have built a beautiful playground complete with a water park area and new bathrooms. They are in the process of working on a nice garden area on New York Ave and Paterson Plank. The tennis courts were resurfaced a few years ago. They did a nice job. The only negative is that there used to be 10 courts and for some reason they removed one to build a viewing area. This makes it more like the other county parks, except they have bleachers or benches (it looks like they were going to build them, just never did). The result is only 9 courts. Also keep in mind that the Union City High School team uses these courts, so after school in the fall and spring only 4 courts are available for the public, from around 4-6 PM. The Washington park association (WPA) is very active in trying to organize events and festivals. Check out their website.

Micro mini is great for learning all the tricks you can conceive but it doesn't translate to the bigger ramp at all, that thing is verty and scary compared to the shallow side of the pool in Chelsea. The Forgotten Park…read more Leonard Gordon Park is the oldest & largest in Jersey City Heights.First constructed in the early 1900's and is approximately 5.7 acres in size. It was named after a NY native who served in the Union Army during the Civil War.After moving to Jersey City,Dr. Gordon is best known around here for a few things.They are the placement of the sculpture of Soldiers & Sailors Memorial outside of City Hall.Also of note, he helped the founding of the Free public library of Jersey City.His bust is in the front lobby to this very day. Enough of the history of this park/person... It needs a facelift and some looking after.The park has a gazebo that is right in the center and is falling apart.With paint chips all over the place and wood planks falling down.The walking paths are concrete and all cracked with not much lighting in the area that I noticed.Even the Bull & Bear statues which this Park known for, can use a little TLC. There is a very nice World War I memorial that was dedicated on November 9th,1930 when you first enter the park. Currently under construction is a playground for the kids on your right when first entering the park.Out front on the Kennedy Blvd entrance way are a couple of nice little gardens which are very nice to see. City administration is working on a reclamation project to spruce up this grand old park.Hopefully it works.I'd hate to see this park disappear & fall to the hands of the less than desirable folks that can hang here.

I came here the other day while walking my dog and soon regretted it. There was broken glass from…read moreglass bottles all over the walkway - some large, some small pieces. I had to pick up my dog and carry him for fear of him stepping on the glass. This would be a nice park if the walkway were better maintained. For now, I will stay away, and I suggest any dog owners and parents of small kids to do the same.
