I have been installing Milgard vinyl windows in many of my apartment buildings over the past 20 years. I always felt that I am buying the best quality out there. I am slowly realizing that I made a big mistake. With every passing year I am finding more and more of their windows require glass replacement due to seal failure between the glass panes causing fogging and reduced visibility. Some of the failures fell under their 10yr warranty (for apt buildings) but many windows are failing past the 10 year limit which forces me to pay for the replacement of the glass, and that is not a cheap proposition. This year alone I had to replace the glass on 6 windows and they were all installed arount 10-11 years ago. That is simply unacceptable. I would recommend finding another manufacturer with a better warranty. read more

well , i worked with one of Milgards dealer and everything worked smoothly. When it comes to Rebate , i did my rebate submission. 2 months after submitting my rebate , i called them to follow up on the rebate that i never received. the lady on the phone said, I forgot to put my order ID and that is a incomplete registration and they cant offer me rebate anymore. If my registation wes incomplete They should have emailed me saying that my registration was incomplete. they are just not being honest. I hope somebody reads this and correct the issue. UPDATE: They can clearly see my order in their system with my name and also confirm it with their dealer but they just simply refuse to pay the REBATES. I feel SCAMMED. I am the second owner of a 9 year old house and therefore the milgard window warranty was about to expire at 10 years. I inspected all my windows and 11 had the seal blown, so they were "fogged" up inside. Milgard replaced them at no cost, but it took 2 attempts because at the first attempt they already had leaks in them. The tech came back 2 months later, and they replaced the 11 windows. Unfortunately the techs did not care much about the property. They stained one of the bed covers by putting the replacement windows on it temporarily. They also stepped all over the bay window landing and scratched up the surface with their boots. I had to have that landing sanded and repainted because it was really messed up. Overall, I'd say the windows are good, when they get the seals right, but you should ensure the techs are more careful and respectful of your home. read more

We have had our Milgard windows for 23 years now. We have retro fit dual pane grid windows. We have needed 2 window panes replaced due to fogging and had no problem getting it done under the lifetime warranty. It takes about 2-3 months in total but gets done with no problems. The last one I needed replaced was all done on line and was super easy. I don't understand all the reviews about Milgard not standing by their warranty. In my case it was the best choice I've ever made to install Milgard windows. I highly recommend Milgard. read more

Beware. The patio screen door frame they installed was too tall to remove without risking bending it, so I requested they do it. They came out and could barely remove it, and damaged it in the process. Since it was outside their 'warranty', they refused to do anything more - to fix it, replace it, etc. They had every excuse in the book, 'someone else made the screen, we don't make them', 'it's out of warranty', 'your house settled' (it didn't) - etc. The problem is, I had no need to try and remove it until I needed to replace the screen material, so I didn't know it was going to be an issue until outside of the warranty. I feel that we are very lucky that there are still some companies out there that honor their lifetime warranty faithfully, such as Milgard. It's my second time that they came over to my house to replace the yellow glasses and most balancers around my house for free with peace of mind. They arrive on time, get the job done professionally. It seems that they keep trying new way to improve their products too. And what would I loose if their new improvement fails, it will be just another new replacement... Each time they come, I always find one extra balancer that needs to be replaced that I dis not list, they are courteous enough to find a spare one in their truck (if any) to replace for me. The only inconvenience that I face is the time I go over the call with them to clarify my replacement order where I have to read out the serial number on each windows (to be worked on) with them. It's a long conversation but they listen and work with me patiently. The time I wait for such follow up call is about 1 month from the time I place the first draft order over their website. Then I have to wait for about another month from that follow up call for them to come out to do the work. But oh well, if good quality is offered to me for free, I don't mind to plan ahead and patiently wait for it to materialize. It's similar to plant a precious fruit... It's a awesome ROI value to install Milgard product especially if you plan to stay in that house for a long time. Good job Milgard. Way to go. read more

Our entire house is filled with Milgard windows. They looked beautiful when we bought our house but about a year ago they started looking filthy & developing big vertical & horizontal lines in between the panes on 5 of our windows and it is quickly getting worse. I called a window company to give us quote to replace & they told us that the seal had gone bad on the windows & moisture is getting in between the panes. They also told us that the windows are Milgard windows & that they have a LIFETIME warranty on them. I called Milgard and was told that their policy is that because we were not the ones that purchased the windows (they sold their house to us) that the lifetime warranty becomes a 10 year warranty. This policy stinks, how many people stay in the same house forever? Pretty much nobody. Therefore, their policy is totally insincere. They obviously do not have the confidence in their own product. They are failing and Milgard wont replace them. I would highly suggest that anyone thinking about replacing windows in their house NOT buy Milgard windows!!25% of them have gone bad and they wont take fix any of them . So someone from Milgard replied to my negative post by saying (in summary) yup that is our policy that we DON'T honor our "Lifetime Warranty" if the house has been sold after the windows were installed. And we are sorry if you don't like that warranty and we will be happy to mail you a copy of said warranty. BUT. Other than mailing a copy of our horrible warranty (which she claimed "is the best in the business" they aren't going to do a darn thing about it. No wonder there are so many other complaints and negative comments about Milgard on yelp. And on all of them I keep seeing the same worthless reply from Milgard. Basically telling people they are sorry you don't like our warranty but we wont do anything to help you. I bought new Milgard windows for my home, and had them installed by a Milgard-recommended installer. What a nightmare! There are so many defects in these windows, it's hard to know where to begin. Many of the window frames are warped. The exterior finish is already wearing off of the frames. The sliding windows stick in their tracks, and do not roll easily. One window was delivered with an obvious crack in the frame. Many windows were delivered without the right hardware, so I could not secure my windows while I waited months for the replacement hardware to show up. Now several windows are fogging up between the double panes of glass (due to the argon gas leaking out). Milgard has sent out a tech, but has never repaired the defects. Nothing but delays, denial, minimizing and excuses. UPDATE: See the response below from Milgard, where the Milgard lady (Hanna G.) invites me to contact her for assistance in resolving this? I sent an email to the email address Hannah G. provided: social@milgard.com. For several days, I received no response. Then I got a response today. It is a one-line response, from a no-reply mailbox. It says only that I should call (800)MILGARD. That's right, Hannah G. provided no actual offer to help, just a referral to Milgard's 800 number. Milgard is simply pretending to respond to our concerns here on Yelp. They post the same fake reply to every complaint on Yelp. Beware, everyone! Three more exploded windows since my last review (12/14/2017). The first to go was a bathroom window. We replaced the entire slider for $50. It was cheaper to replace the whole window rather than have the pane replaced by a technician. The next one to spontaneously shatter was a small window in the master bedroom. It also was the slider so we replaced the entire window at a cost of $250 (apparently Milgard has experienced some inflation in replacement windows). The most recent window was in the garage. Again, it was the slider so we will have to replace it at our cost, (to be determined) but no doubt more than $250. Sevin windows, the same problem, and Milgard insists that it isn't a manufacturing issue. GIVE ME A BREAK!! read more

We paid over $34k for new windows that were installed three months ago and we are still waiting for the four screen doors for our sliding doors. In addition we had to have three different windows for one of our windows before they could send us one that wasn't broken on arrival. This also took months before they got us a unbroken window. The last two days we had an appointment to deliver our screen doors and yesterday they gave us a four hour window and then couldn't make that time and re-scheduled for another four hour window today. This time they just didn't even show up and there was no communication to reschedule or to let us know they were not going to make it. My time is valuable too, and this is unacceptable. read more

Super sad that our cool black fiberglass doors and windows that we ordered at Lowes and paid for were not received by Milgard. Lowes provided Milgard proof that they were sent and paid and Milgard refuses to assist in getting them when promised. Milgard rep refused to speak to me (the customer) and said to send the order again and then they would tell us if they could assist with the lead time. I learned of this issue on Saturday and now on Friday I am being told that Milgard may be able to get back to me by Monday--about 9 days. I would not purchase Milgard products if timing is important. They promised us doors in 36 business days and now a month later are telling us it will be 70 business days. I would not suggest this company to anybody. I understand there are mistakes that happen, but when the customer service is this bad....not a good sign. read more

We're very pleased with a recent window replacement by Milgard's Temecula office under their lifetime warranty service. The original window was installed in approximately 2006 and had fogged over the years. The installer, Ray, was equipped with a mask and other protective gear appropriate for the current coronavirus situation. He had to make two trips because the replacement window was the wrong size on the first trip, but on the second try he brought the right window and was finished with the installation in 45 minutes. We have now had Milgard windows installed in three houses and are very happy with the way they function. This is actually the second time we have used their warranty service. The first time, a driver came out right away to replace a defective handle on a small casement window. Although these windows are pricey, we feel that the peace of mind you get with Milgard's lifetime warranty makes the expense worth it. In our experience, as long as you are the original purchaser, the company will honor it. read more

Do not buy a Milgard Patior door or any of their products. I base that statement on my experience with their patio door. We purchased our home in 2017 and are the second owners. The house was built in 2010. I noticed in 2018 (8 years old) a slight sheen on the inside of the window between the panels of glass on the sash side. I should have called then but time just got away from me. This spring cleaning revealed that the moisture has really gotten bad so I called. Once I started talking to the warranty person, she started going through her script to try and get Milgard out of having to take responsibility for a patio door that should last a lot longer than 10 years. She asked "Are you the original owner of the home?" What a technicality! That is the way they know they can get out of being responsible for an inferior product. She stated "Well our products are made by people so things do happen". So you're saying that if I own the home for say 50 years, by the standard of their product, I would have to replace my patio door 5 times because your employees are human? I said "you must get calls like this all the time" and she was stupid enough to tell me "yes I do". That pretty much says it all for the quality of their products. She got irritated when I was taken aback that they would not even consider covering the door and she said "Well I am ending this call now". I told her before she hung up on me that karma comes to those who do bad things to others so good luck to her and her company. And the full lifetime warranty is worthless. Gonna use it later when I run out of toilet paper. I just helped my father-in-law replace his patio doors from 1975 and the glass in the doors (almost 50 years old) looked far better than the product Milgard makes. The seals are horrible. And apparently by the warranty persons own admission their employees don't know how to seal them correctly. Better have at least 5K ready every 10 years if you buy their product. Because you will be replacing it. And Mariana A. with Milgard, you can keep your comments to yourself unless you plan to fix the crappy patio door your company made. I understand the warranty is only good for 10 years after the install if you are not the original owner of the house. I paid for the house and the doors in it. It should not matter I am the second owner. Your company would not have that technicality clause in there if your company stood behind your products. read more

We ordered Milgard Trinsic windows series for our house. We ordered them through Dee Jay's Sash & Glass in Santa Rosa. Service & Installation was very prompt & professional. We had a issue with the balancers on one of the bathroom windows. We called Dee Jay's and they referred us directly to Milgard with a claim number. Milgard phone customer service wasn't the best, but after 2 tries, Milgard set up an appt. 2 weeks after the installation. The gentleman came over, corrected the issue within 10 mins. Excellent service!! With the tint & argon gas in the windows, it will make a difference with retaining the AC and heat. We LOVE our new windows!!!! read more

Don't buy Milgard!! Worthless "lifetime" warranty and terrible product. Less than 12 years old and more than half of the glass of the windows went foggy and bad. A few failed within first years and had to be replaced. My Aunt did the remodel and installed top of the line Milgard Windows in our family home because of the warranty she was sold on. My Aunt had a stroke and we are now her caretakers in said home. She transferred the ownership of the house to us, and Aunt still lives here and should hold the warranty on the windows she purchased. Milgard is saying no. Even though she lives here and we all share the same name, they will not warranty their malfunctioned windows. FWIW, I have a Anderson door and accent windows that have been serviced and replaced no problem. Heads up legacy family's!!! Milgard is not family oriented. read more

I called Milgard and spoke to Robbi who was so nice and took the extra time to find my file(s) and book an appointment the same day which for today 03/08. Kyle came out a bit early which I did not mind and he got right to work replacing the glass as needed. Kyle was in and out in about (90) minutes while doing a great job. ZERO out of pocket and I have NEW glass for our home. Thank you Milgard for backing your product and coming out to replace in a timely manner. I bought fairly new home in 2015, I have over 30 windows and two sliding door, few years ago over 16 windows leaked gas, it's more windows and doors showing the leak from time to time, the sliding door hardware is not working properly, the door could not been locked, I have been told by the builder and few Milgard Dealers that Milgard glasses are on life time warranty, but I have been told by Milgard that the warranty is limited, three years ago, one of my another sliding door glass leaked, only two years old, it's under warranty but I had been told the warranty was void because it's not installed by Milgard certified installer, really? from my experience, Milgard are making very bad quality windows and doors,, I will never buy again from Milgard! read more

I ordered a $12k door, it was delayed for months, finally set for Delivery in Nov, then delayed until Dec 12th, then again to Dec 23. Poor quality ugly sliding door and installation. This was supposed to be a replacement for a 10 foot sliding glass door. The horrible installer (Newman Windows and Doors - Carlsbad) brought a door smaller than the opening and used large ugly custom made metal molding to hide the fact. The bottom track is very high, a trip hazard and eventually broke from people walking on it. Milgard and Newman refused to repair the track saying it wasn't covered by the warranty. If this wasn't I am not sure what would be. Never again. read more

Warranty Replacement Grade F- After a few years and you need to replace a window(s) under Milgard's lifetime warranty, good luck. Within the past year, Milgard now requires owners to measure, photograph and list in detail each defective window. Once the information is sent via their warranty webpage, 3-4 weeks later a response is sent saying 'due to warranty volume, delays are expected'. I called a couple of weeks later and was told my email warranty request was never received (I had a claim number from their site). Once customer service was given my claim number, they miraculously found my request and then claimed I gave then the wrong email address. Once a claim is approved, 3-4 weeks later, a local company schedules an appointment. If the glass measurements (taken by the homeowner) are not EXACT, the entire process starts from scratch. Seems like the 'delay the homeowner, until they go elsewhere' rule is alive and well at Milgard. BUYER BEWARE.... read more

I really wish I had gone with another company ~ the lack of customer care is sad in these times when everyone is struggling. I bought 11 windows $$$ and ordered when Covid hit and the world shut down. So the windows sat at the warehouse than at the contractors house. Finally saved up $ for the installation and repainting around the windows and have three faulty windows. The screens literally pop put of the frame at a hands touch. Both windows are the exact same size and both screens are ill fitting and not of quality. So I schedule an appt and talk to many agents and are told the screens are under a year warranty. I implored for an exception as the world was on hold and to please consider my situation. Also I have been affected by a 4 1/2 month strike and out of work on the verge of losing my house. The windows are not the quality of what I ordered and the third window has the foam popping out every time I open it (a $1,200 casement window) and the repair agent said all he could do was push the foam in. Than I asked him to measure the correct size for the screens as I was promised by the agent that scheduled the appointment. Than I get a run around that he can not and it is because they are big windows. I have other big windows and the screen fit and stays put. So besides being a company that does care about customers please care about their safety ~ I could so easily be robbed with faulty screens so let that resonant and maybe a supervisor can get back to me regarding my issue and dissatisfaction. I have called multiply times following the appt and everyone seems to be on a break or at lunch. Or the call back function does not work for me. Please stand by being a caring company and care for clients that spend years saving and saving for new windows and consider the situation. It is the least you company can do. Our house is still torn apart after work had begun mid July. We are about to enter into September, and Milgard has struggled to deliver on doors and a window to replace initially defective ones in our home. We have been told multiple times that replacements would show up on specific days, which meant my wife and I would have to find a way to be home from work to accept delivery, just to have nothing show up. A replacement door was finally delivered3 weeks ago, but upon installation to replace the defective french doors, the contractors pointed out that the replacement doors were warped due to straps being put on too tightly to secure the packaging. We had family and friends show up for my daughter's 5th birthday on Sunday, August 22nd, thinking the construction would be done. But because of the defective replacement doors and Milgard's failure to deliver a replacement window, we hosted the birthday party with a house under construction. We are still left with an incomplete home, and Milgard has yet to deliver on replacement French doors for the defective replacement and defective initial doors. The exterior of our home is left with exposed weather sealant since stucco work cannot be competed before installation. We are absolutely disappointed with Milgard's ability to deliver on clean products with no defects, and their abilty to deliver replacements in a timely manner (also without defects). read more

We are so happy with the service we received. A timely, courteous, hard-working gentleman came on time to measure first, then he returned to install about a month later after ordering. To top it off, it was replacing 4 defective double-pane windows that were about 15-20 years old that we kept the original receipt and warranty information on. Our bubbled windows were easily replaced on warranty, with NO QUESTIONS ASKED. It was Milgard perfect! Milgard repair came out to fix a large double hung window in our bathroom and our double glass sliding glass doors. Very pleased with the service done and the service people that worked very hard to fix the items. Hector and Paulino replaced the locking mechanism on the 2 sliding glass doors. This didn't fix them. Hector used his strength to pull on the doors so to fix them rubbing. Happy to say. Hector fixed them perfectly. So nice to open and close with ease. Mark replaced the balancers in our double hung window with stronger ones. It now stays in place when opening. Paulino helped Mark too. All three were so polite and cared about their job. Really nice to have them work on our house. It's because of them that I've changed my mind and will continue with Milgard windows and doors for the rest of my house. read more

I emailed Milgard. I also put in a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau. My replacement appointment was postponed 2+ weeks and I STILL cannot get a painting appointment. Customer service is all talk and no follow-through. 5/15/19 I did email Milgard (to the email address you provided) after I received a response on Yelp. I received a response from Joann Whetstine. She stated she would have a supervisor call me. I never received any call. From my complaint with the BBB, I finally got the direct number for the painter. The painter submitted the work order to Milgard for approval and has been waiting over 3 weeks for approval (he has reached out to Milgard several times with no response). So again, there is no follow-through. read more
