In 2002 we replaced 15 windows in various designs including double hung, single hung veritcal and crank outs. We were very satisfied w/Rich's Door and Windows in Bellflower, CA where we ordered them. it's 2026 and Rich and Milgard both had our original specs and pertinent information at their fingertips. I love the fact that their warranty is lifetime. I just had Brookes from the Simi Valley, CA location come and inspect and change out some ballast's for smoother operation. Brookes also lubricated a couple the of windows and showed me to do the rest myself. The phone call center was fast and easy to make and appt. that suited to our schedule. Brookes was here within the predetermined time they said he would be and he also gave me a courtesy call to let me know his ETA. I don't know why some other reviews were not 5 star. We have been very happy with our Milgard Windows and customer service. read more

Although I didn't understand that they had such a long wait for service, the two guys came on time to do the field glazing, they were pleasant and professional, cleaned up their trash, and offered some good maintenance advice. I'll see how the company does when I make a request regarding screens that I hadn't installed initially do to the construction going on -- one screen has a hole even though I thought I had it protected during storage; another is bulged and loose at one side. I bought my house new with Milgard windows, 25 years ago. This year I had some windows cloud. I contacted Milgard and of course they stood behind the warranty. My windows were 30 feet up and they brought a team, who adhered to extremely safe methods of installation while exercising caution. They were considerate and neat. I pointed out two other windows that were giving me trouble, they said the balancers were not working. Yesterday they returned for the second time and took care of the two smaller windows. Our work was a warranty claim for two windows which had been "fogged" due to some leakage between panes. Milgard provides an excellent warranty and a simplified claim process. Within a couple of months the claim was handled via email. Ample guidance and assistance was provided by Milgard and window replacement was scheduled within 30 days. The technician arrived on time and was friendly and knowledgeable. He replaced the windows and left to his next stop. We have been very happy with our Milgard windows and with the warranty service provided. We recommend Milgard windows and customer service very highly. My patio doors were not built to spec's (measurements done by a professional), with side vent windows wider in the middle than top or bottom and door frame wider at top than bottom; so far off that the installer could not install it flush so the doors would work. There was also a faulty window seal and a broken lock mechanism. I have to wait for the doors to be re-built and re-installed. Customer service also takes a long time to get through to a person, but they were responsive once a case was started and agreed to rebuild/resend new doors. Milgard windows and doors are supposed to be good, but check them carefully before trying to install. read more

Milkgard's window glass warranty is very good. I had many window glass panels that were defective and Milgard replaced them all within a reasonable time frame. Their subcontractor, Horizon Windows, came out and replaced the defective widow glass and did a good job. I'm pleased that the issue with the defective window glass has now been resolved. read more

I'm very disappointed with my experience with Milgard, particularly their customer service and warranty support. I currently have a Milgard window that no longer functions properly, and despite the issue occurring with a product that is supposed to be covered by their warranty, Milgard has declined to honor the warranty. The result is, 5 years after installation, that I'm left with a window that doesn't work and no satisfactory resolution from the company. I was actually warned against choosing Milgard when we were selecting our windows, but I decided to move forward with them anyway based reassurances from our GC. Unfortunately, I regret ignoring that warning. When you invest in new windows, you expect the manufacturer to stand behind its products when something goes wrong. Based on my experience with Milgard's warranty and customer service, I would recommend that prospective customers consider other manufacturers. read more

We have the Milgard Essence windows with solid wood interior and weather resistant fiberglass exterior. We had them installed in 2011. Over the years some of the windows had developed streaks between the glass panes. Milgard honored their lifetime warranty that was included in the purchase. Avoid Milgard. We purchased 2 doors and 26 Milgard Tuscany windows about two years ago, and we have had ongoing quality and service issues ever since. Service technicians have been to my house around a dozen times for different problems. The first thing you should know is the customer service process is difficult. It typically takes a minimum of six weeks to get someone to your house. You have to contact the original window installer who did the job, because only they can submit the service request to Milgard, and then you wait. This system does not seem designed with any consideration to the customer. I also wonder what happens if your original local installer goes out of business or if you sell your home and the new homeowner needs service. There have also been basic service errors. A few times, Milgard sent the wrong replacement window or door. In one case, they mixed up the width and height of the door. It is their own door they were replacing, so I am not sure how that happens. You go back into the service queue and wait another six weeks. Once, a replacement window did not arrive at the local warehouse, but they still called me the day before to remind me to be home for installation. The quality issues have been extensive. All of our windows had white sealing tape oozing out from around the window frames in the heat. It is very hot in the greater Phoenix area, but windows should be tested for all weather extremes and should last for decades. It appears the tape was improperly applied at the factory and not caught by quality control. Twice, we have had different double-pane windows fog up and need replacement. The last time this happened, Milgard would not initially honor the warranty. They insisted the window was not fogged and said a photo was not sufficient. They wanted a video, and they wanted to send a service technician to inspect it. I asked for a customer support manger to review the issue but they did not budge. The technician eventually came to my house and said it was obviously fogged, and then I had to wait another six weeks for the replacement. I am not sure why my second fogged window was so much effort. Our casement crank windows have also had repeated issues where they would not close and lock properly. On some of the crank windows, it appears the inside frame was painted only after assembly, leaving unpainted gaps around the crank hardware. This is again something that reflects the build quality. One large picture window cracked on its own late night and had to be replaced. The replacement window then cracked during installation, so I had to wait again for another replacement. Milgard replaced my original untempered cracked glass with tempered glass, but the two types of glass are noticeably different colors. Now I have windows with mismatched glass for no good reason. Good support process would take this problem into account and discuss options. Temper windows are required by building codes in some specific situations, such as near doors, but that is not the case here. Important tip: if you open a second service call, Milgard's system will automatically close your first service call without notifying you. This has happened to me twice. You will only know this if you call them to check on your service call. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Milgard windows. read more

We've had our Milgard windows for almost 30 years, and they still look fantastic and have held up incredibly well. Recently, one of our windows developed some clouding between the panes, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn it was still covered under warranty. The technician who came out to replace the glass was outstanding. He arrived within 5 minutes of the beginning of the scheduled arrival window -- which is almost unheard of these days! He was friendly, professional, fast, and extremely thorough. The whole experience was smooth and stress-free. It's rare to find a company that stands behind their products decades later and also provides such excellent customer service. Windows were replace that were foggy. The two men that did the work were great. They did note that it would be better if the windows could be professionally measured before the glass is ordered. But it seems Milgard is skipping this step. The opening had bowed - so they had to adjust the frame. It does look great though. Getting through to Milgard to schedule the maintenance was extremely difficult since I could not read the order number. I now have it saved. read more

Our original house came with Milgard windows and doors. (I am not a fan of the glass French doors with the 3 point lock but that is a convo for another day.) We liked the quality of the doors on the original home so staying consistent was a no brainer. Same windows had some significant upgrades which was nice but it is also obvious that the quality of the windows have gone down a little bit. We had a bit of trouble with two of the new windows. Our experience with afterservice was totally lacking. 1st visit(12/09/26): 3 week schedule out which is fine. Tech comes out measures the window and says that it is a two man job for my bigger than average windows AND we need a new window. We thought they would schedule it on their end... but no... 2nd visit (2/04/26): Took me a few phone calls of trying to get on the schedule to have someone come out again because they seemed to have forgotten us. 8 weeks post 1st visit they came out to tell me OH they brought the a different window than what we actually have. Someone must have order or written down the wrong window. Tech even said "this happens a lot." 3rd visit: (03/09/26) Knowing they aren't proactive in after sales warranty services I made sure I called and followed up. So I guess a month was better than 2 months. Tech says ".. Hey so what is the problem? we have no notes of these windows at this address. " .... WHHHHHAT?!?!?!?!?!?! Told him the situation. Tech looks at it and says "you dont need a new window or a second guy.. just some adjustments. Let me do that for you." BAM and then done. .... 3 months of unable to open two windows... all fixed by one person who knew what they were doing. I am not sure what is going on or if they don't train their Techs enough. It says something when two other techs came out and wasn't able to fix the problem and said we needed a new window was the result. A new window that wasn't measured for or any data in the back end or any NOTES?! no NOTES?! you would think that ordering a new window would require notes... so what was I getting? the run around??! Something must be wrong to have issues happening not only ONCE but twice. Is it training? is it the software? WE will never know. But the bad taste has been left... and we will probably go elsewhere for future windows if servicing is this much of a hassle. Windows that last 10+ years will have to be serviced at some point. Living in San Diego you need those windows to work and not take 3 months for functionality to return. read more

I remember the first place I lived with my mom, dad, and brother. It was an old one room apartment. In the winter it was freezing and we bundled up like we were going outside. The old single pane windows let the cold in. We didn't use the heater much as that meant less money for food. Most of the year I'm more concerned about not being hot so I purchased windows with the highest rating for blocking out the sun. The government ratings call it SHGC or solar heat gain coefficient. My windows were rated to block out 80% of the sun's heat which is pretty good. It's only cold for 3-4 months out of the year and that's when a windows U-Factor is important. The ratings range from 0.14 to 1.20 with the lowest number being the most cold resistant. My low-E 4 living room door had a U-Factor of .23 which is very good. My low-E 3 hot/cold bedroom had a U-Factor of .29 which is ok. These are some observations over the years and windows. single pane windows - very poor insulator. Very cold or hot. double pane windows - an improvement over single pane windows but not alot. double pane windows with low-E glass - an improvement over double pane but still hot and cold double pane windows with vinyl frame and low-E 3 glass - a big improvement over double pane windows with low-E glass double pane windows with vinyl frame and low-E 4 glass - a big improvement over double pane windows with vinyl frame and low-E 3 glass Low-E 4 glass is the state of the art in window technology where all 4 sides of a double pane window are coated to prevent heat from getting in and out. The original low-E glass I bought in 2000 just had 1 surface of the double pane window coated. Milgard calls their windows 4th surface. It's almost winter now and I have by checking the temperature in all the rooms and adding foam insulation as needed. Here is a sample of my readings November 20 2024 6am: 42F Outside 58F hot\cold west facing bedroom next to low-E 3 window 69F Inside living room next to low-E 4 patio door with blinds open Having a cold room was not good as it cools down the rest of the townhouse. I was trying to figure out why that cold room was so cold and noticed the left pane of glass was much colder than the right pane of glass. On further inspection I noticed there was a tiny gap in the molding. I had Milgard fix the gap. I also asked the technician to check if the argon gas had leaked out but he said I voided the warranty by putting a film over the window. He also said the right pane of glass was protected by the window screen so that side is normally warmer. I told him the screen was full of holes and is a terrible insulator. He stood by his statement but I checked the other windows with screens and did not notice a temperature difference. There was a noticeable improvement after the repair. The room was 3 to 5 degrees warmer. The left pane of glass was still colder than the right pane. At sunset I started putting up 2 layers of foam insulation on the left pane and a single layer of foam insulation on the right pane of glass each sunset. The new temperature reading: 66F hot\cold west facing bedroom next to low-E 3 window with foam insulation I am now satisfied with the temperatures in the hot/cold room. I've been checking and at 6am the room is usually 3 degrees colder than the rest of the townhouse. In conclusion I am amazed at how low-E 4/4th surface patio doors keep out the cold. It looks like I'll be very comfortable without using the heater unless it gets down below 40F. Last year when it got into the 30's the living room was in the low 60's. Also the Milgard lifetime warranty is only good if you follow all the fine print. I hope my parents are proud of how I no longer rely on the utility company to stay warm or cool. read more

I bought Milgard Windows for my house years ago and the Master Bath glass cracked. ( possibly because of hot showers and cold outside air.) I called and made a claim and they replaced the glass. My other Bathroom now has the same issue. Both of the glass panels have popped/ cracked and the shower in that bathroom has NEVER been used. This is 4 out of 4 panels of glass have failed. I filed a claim for service and they claim that they are not cover against glass issues and refuse to repair the issue. When I bought these windows I was told that they had a Milgard lifetime warranty. I understand they would not be covered if I damaged them but this is a manufacturer flaw as all of my bathroom panels have failed. I asked Milgard if I could purchase new glass panels and I would install them and the response was NO and that they only do warranty work. They claim that when I bought my windows that they were not covered. I thought this company was better than that. I have recommended this company to four other people that bought Milgard windows because of me. read more
