A lot of us picked from the specials board and the food came out devine and the service was outstanding. The place was busy as it was the jazz/fringe festival weekend so the clientelle was of all ages (a bit annoying having babies/kids screaming thoughout the meal) including elderly who came in through the fire door for easy access. I would definitely recommend this place which is also dog friendly. This place is soo good that Seasick Steve was playing there that evening and eating his dinner in the pub part as we left.

The portions are generous and the food lovely. The also offer a lighter lunch time menu with sandwiches, wraps, salads and smaller hot Meals. The premises itself is well kept and they have a lovely wood fire. The staff are always friendly and they do good beer. There's a large beer garden out back for the summers. It's a really nice pub but some of the food lets it down.

Obviously little toddlers can't help the odd accident, but I'd suggest that the staff need to give the room and equipment a good clean to get rid of the niggling aroma. The food's not bad either, although my order was lost in the rush. That said, anyone can have a bad day and the staff were apologetic and reimbursed us for our trouble. It went through a big refurb a few years back and the interior is homely and comfy. The food is generally of a good standard, however I have had the odd disappointing dish. My recommendation is to go for the specials as they are always good! It's not the cheapest but that is normally reflected in the quality. The service can also be a little slow during busy periods.

They also had posh bar snacks like a pint if prawns and a number of specials that sounded good. As it was lunch I opted for a rare beef sandwich which was £6.50. The bread was freshly baked, the beef beautifully cooked and all presented on a board with some token leaves that we're light dressed. As far as sarnies go this was a great one.
