Always a lovely time at the Truffle Cheese shop. I stopped in the Saturday preceding Christmas, and…read moreit was predictably packed. Everyone was super cheerful, helpful, and friendly (patrons included) managing the semi-organized chaos of a pre-Christmas rush in such a small space. Despite showing up an hour before closing, just two days before Christmas, they still had a super huge selection. They're still making sure everyone gets samples, gets to try things to make sure they're taking home the right items for their board, party, etc. I effectively told them to gimme a dealer's choice on 5 meats and 4 cheeses to feed 7 people and boy did they deliver. They're great people, they have a really wonderful selection of tons of meats and cheeses, and they're patient and helpful and want to make sure everyone has everything they need. Such a great space and they're the only meat and cheese shop we go to!

Lisa was the curator for our cheese making experience. The shop has specialty cheeses that you won't find at your normal grocer, nor Whole Foods. She also created us a charcuterie board for us to sample some of her cheeses. This little shop is so much more! Consider a class here or catering!

What a fabulous surprise to visit here. It is chock full of so many unique and specialty items…read morewhether it be meats or cheeses (as you would expect by its name), but it is sooo much more. The layout was relaxing, but with an upbeat energy--was perfect for an unplanned shopping extravaganza. I forgot the person's name who was helping me, but she was super wonderful and knew a lot about all of the products. Granted I called them to see if they had the Wisconsin brick cheese for the Detroit Style Pizza we were making. I would have liked to buy more but it was their last one, until they get more in. But instead of just picking up the cheese and leaving, I made my way through their store, perusing their many treasures. So many great products that I didn't know I needed :). You can stop here if you don't want to read the details of what I ended up getting. Got a white balsamic vinegar (more citrusy taste I was told) and garlic infused olive oil. Both of those paired together will make a great vinaigrette salad dressing. Then Merf hot sauces, got the green and red ones. Yum! Figured would try out the Chile Miso condiment. Sounded very interesting. Picked up their cuttlefish ink, squid ink pasta, salted french butter and organic cream. Mixed with the parmigiana rigatto cheese I had at home would make a great sauce with this unique pasta. But I needed a shredder for the cheese and they had a very cool tri-shredder that fit the bill. And finally their meats. So many varieties of meats. I went with the Genoa salami, prosciutto, and speck (smoked ham). All were super delicious and tasty. Will have to try some of the others in the future. I picked up a piece of goat, fig and honey cheese that I am anxious to try. I wonder if it will be a dessert treat or not. Finally, I couldn't pass up the vanilla chai tea. I will try it as a hot and iced tea with milk. Yum! They have beautiful cheese/charcuterie boards and tools. I may just have to break down and get those during my future return visit(s).

I completed the purchase and paid the shipping charges presented to me at checkout in full. After the order was placed, St. Kilian's emailed me saying they could no longer ship the order using the shipping method I had already paid for and wanted another $20 to "expedite" it. This is a CHEESE SHOP. Shipping perishable cheese is literally part of their business. They should know what shipping method is required BEFORE accepting an order, charging the customer, and confirming the transaction. You do not get to accept an order at an advertised promotional price and then come back afterward demanding additional money because you suddenly decide the shipping you offered isn't adequate. The whole situation felt like a bait-and-switch. I received a very good promotional price, and instead of simply honoring the transaction, they suddenly wanted another $20 from me. I told them twice to ship the order using the shipping method I had already selected and paid for. Rather than honoring the order, they ignored that request and ultimately canceled it. From the customer's perspective, it certainly appears they were perfectly happy to cancel the order once they realized how good of a deal I received. If St. Kilian's cannot safely ship cheese using a particular method, then DON'T OFFER THAT SHIPPING METHOD AT CHECKOUT. That is their responsibility, not the customer's. And if a promotion results in a price they don't like, that is also not the customer's problem. I placed the order in good faith, paid exactly what I was asked to pay, and expected the merchant to honor the transaction. Instead, I was asked for more money after the sale and then had my order canceled when I refused. Terrible way to treat a customer. I would not order from St. Kilian's again

There were plenty of seats and it was clean. Even the bathrooms were clean. It wasn't super busy on a weekday morning. We walked around to see what they had and it was a breakfast spot, pizza, bakery, seafood, chocolate and coffee. I wasn't sure what the other one was in the corner but it didn't look interesting (I think sandwiches). I did wish they had something Asian like a ramen spot or even a pho spot but nothing. We ordered a breakfast sandwich called the Thunderbird at Call Your Mother. It was about $11. It was made fresh and it was super duper hot that we waited for a bit for it to be warm in order to eat it. The egg was fluffy, the sausage was filling and the cheese was melty. The only complaint I had was it was a little too sweet for me. It has honey and I guess I should have asked if it could be on the side. It really needed the hot sauce and it made it better. The other item we ordered was a ham and cheese croissant at Izzio Bakery. I think that's what it's called. They heated it up for me and it was about $8 after tax and tip. It was so good warmed up. The cheese was gooey and it was the right amount of salty goodness. The hubs and I kinda fought for the last bite. Would definitely would like to try other items from there next time we are in town. We would return but wished there was a noodle spot and it would make it so much better.

Lou's was a cute & cozy deli that made us the most amazing Italian style sandwiches. They also had home made pastas, speciality grocery items & catering. There was limited indoor seating with one table for six, some counter seating & an outdoor patio. We parked on the street. We ordered the Chicken Parm & the Fried Prosciutto BLT Sandwiches online & ate there. Our order was ready right on time & the staff were friendly & fast. The Chicken Parm was delicious - a nicely seasoned chicken cutlet with fresh mozzarella & a very flavorful marinara sauce. My favorite was the Fried Prosciutto BLT, it was fantastic. The prosciutto was crispy & was instead of bacon. In addition, there was shredded lettuce, tomato & a great tasting garlic aioli on a toasted Ciabatta Roll. I loved this place - I can't wait to go back!

This cute deli, cheese, French market is very near an eatery we frequent regularly, which was also on our pickup list this morning. We have never been to Le Frigo, though passing it often, as we did not know the breadth of their stock. I had seen positive reviews in the past from local reviewers I knew, one of them a native of France, though a long time Coloradan. It is a shop packed full of many imported items. I wish I had checked it before this. There are so many shelves of cookies, crackers, bottled jams and jellies and sauces as well as imported drinks including the original-shaped, bottled Orangina, now hard to find. There are tins of all sorts of fish and meats. There is a sandwich board of options to be made fresh at the takeout food assembly station. And most unique of all in a shop this size is a refrigerated cheese room in the back, accessible to customers (through a glass door) as a shopping area to browse. Many cheeses are fresh, though prepackaged, in various-sized cuts; some are larger wheels still to be cut. There are already sealed little containers of fresh olives and other condiments. My husband immediately grabbed his favorite mix of Greek olives which we later purchased. Sadly, no matter in what section we looked, there was no sign of the Willoughby Honey, fresh from Rollinsville, CO, located in the mountains near Nederland. I spoke to the French owner, who told me they no longer carried it because it did not sell fast enough. So when I got home, I searched the Willoughby website and discovered they would deliver the size order I had planned, free to my front porch, within the next week. Even though I was sad I could not pick it up in person at Le Frigo, I am glad we stopped in. We did buy the olives and though far more expensive than similar packages found in our local grocery, these olives were fresher and firmer as we discovered at home, though about twice the price. It was worth it for a treat, but maybe not affordable for everyday use. I definitely will keep this shop as one my options for specialty entertaining for the future.
