Went on the recommendation from a gas station clerk, she mentioned Gordan Ramsey had visited (or…read moresomething). I picked up a 3 piece fried trout basket which came with slaw and fries. Everything is fresh!! They get the fish from the fish market behind them so you know you're eating a fresh catch then the bread and fry it while you're waiting. The batter was super thin and tasty. My 7 year old couldn't get enough! Turns out Gordan Ramsey stopped here after his producers had and then ended up filming a segment called "Michigan's Yooper Cuisine," on his show "Unchartered". Pretty cool tidbit of information.

Due to winds they didn't have any trout since fishing was cancelled that day. So that meant double whitefish in the Cap's Basket, and the whitefish was delicious. Thin breading, flaky, and piping hot. Every order is cooked to order and the fries too. The coleslaw is crunchy with the perfect amount of acid to balance out the creaminess. The fish sandwich was the perfect ratio fish to bun. The homemade tartar sauce is the perfect accompaniment and doesn't over power the fish. Seating is outside only to plan accordingly. Between the freshness of the food, the service, and the price point I Highly recommend!

I'll start with what we liked. The ambiance is really nice! Very fun and lots of stuff that…read morereminds us of NOLA. The place was comfortable and there were lots of people there-made for a fun atmosphere. What was discouraging was the food. Granted, we got there a little after 8 PM and we knew it closed at 9 PM. We were sure to order quickly and we had the muffaleta quarter, the half pound of shrimp boil (mkt price), hush puppies, a side of beans and rice and two bowls of seafood bisque. We also had lemonade, beer and hurricanes. The drinks were all really good! Unfortunately all the food was sub par. Shrimp Boil: a half pound was about 6-7 shrimp and they were clearly overcooked. Like I'm pretty shocked they sent it out like that. Dry and rubbery and that's one of your Mkt Price items. Side of corn for the shrimp: my daughter found a hair in it that was pretty deeply buried in there. She didn't try it after that. Hush Puppies: dry and while the sauces helped, we shouldn't need to cover something in sauce to make it appetizing. Muffaleta Quarter: it was pretty mushy and didn't have a lot of flavor to it-my subjective opinion. I love muffaletas, so this one hit hard for me. It was almost like there was too much meat and not enough olive tapenade (I think that's what it is?) Seafood bisque: there were no bits of seafood in there. I was really surprised by this. Beans and Rice: it looked like it was sitting out for a long time and was bland and a little crusty. I try hard not to write a negative review without some pretty objective facts, and we let the waitress (who was very apologetic and helpful) know about our concerns. She took the shrimp, beans and rice and the corn off the bill. With regards to the seafood bisque, when I asked if there should be seafood in it, she let me know that they blend up the seafood in the bisque, so there are no chunks of visible seafood. This just made the soup taste like there was nothing in it. I don't think I've ever had a bowl of seafood bisque without visible chunks of seafood in it. I'm really surprised that they would advertise and serve it like this. Maybe it's just me, but I would expect to see and taste seafood in it. I was really hoping for more and I hope this was just a fluke. I was going to stop by there for their brunch over this weekend, but I'm unlikely to give this another chance. I spent $94 plus tip for 3 of us and we didn't take any of it home.
