Before

I should have been the first person to review this company but I didn't submit my review October 2022 after my patio was completed. I would like to say, this was one of the best decisions I made. I hated my walk out basement exit because every time it rained, red dirt splashed all over the door and siding; it was a useless area below my deck. Initially I was going to install a print concrete patio but the contractor never responded to my calls after the initial quote. Now I realized it was a God intervention moment because I was desperate to find a person to build a patio after the first contractor disappeared; so I sent a request on Yelp to find someone to build my patio and Ramon immediately responded. We went back and forth about what I wanted, he sent me their catalog and then I set the appointment to meet with him. So when I met Ramon, who was supper punctual, I was shocked how young he was, I had to ask him his age to ensure my contract was not with a minor. He told me about his family, his role with helping his father with this business and his commitment to its success. He was personable, very respectful and quite the businessman; I told this young man he is going to develop a very successful business. I explained to him what I wanted and expressed my concerns that grass and weed would eventually protrude in the joints, I wanted something that was more maintenance free. I asked about putting a layer of concrete before installing the pavers. Ramon gave me the additional cost and it was very reasonable. I asked about their license and he explained that they were in the process of obtaining their license, that they had insurance and that he will keep me updated so the job can start after they obtain their license. He provided me with weekly updates and then promptly began the project after they got their license. The work they did was amazing. I have told so many people about this company and left their signs on my front lawn for 6 months so others in the community can give them a call. The cost was very reasonable and the job was completed in a few days because the layer of concrete needed to dry a couple days. I highly recommend this company.

We had Milagro's Stone Works install a new paver patio under our deck and it looks great! They were able level the ground under the deck, remove all extra dirt, and install a full paver patio with two retaining walls within a week. The install was very professional and we are extremely happy with the quality of work. Milagro's Stone Works had very competitive pricing and we would highly recommend them for any stone\paver work.

Milagro did a patio extension from me that turned out great - they were knowledgeable and the work/finish was high quality.

The project was completed as planned, exceeded my expectations and was done to my satisfaction. The entire team was professional and easy to work with. They answered all my questions and concerns during the process. The team was very neat and respectful of my home. The crew provided meticulous attention to detail and communication during the process was clear. They cleaned up the work area everyday after they completed their task. There were small cost overruns, but they were reasonable. I would contact them without hesitation for another job. The professionalism helped ease the stress of such a large endeavor. I am excited about enjoying my new outdoor space. I was pleased with the outcome and would highly recommend Creative Exteriors Plus.

Our builder (Churchill Classics) charged an arm and a leg, and we didn't want to go back to them for another quote, so I scheduled over 15 contractors to come out in 2 days. Of the contractors that came out, Agustin was the first. He was on time, knowledgeable, and gave me plenty of ammunition to go up against the remaining contractors. Although Creative Exteriors Plus was one of the most expensive options we looked at, it was also the only truly professional experience that left a great taste in my mouth going forward. Augustin of Creative Exteriors Plus is fantastic! I always look for contractors with strong integrity, who are honest, and who have no issues answering even the dumbest of questions. Agustin not only gave me peace of mind when meeting us, but he was also very open and honest about everything, from the work, scheduling, payment, and timeframe, to the actual products he used. Before screening in our deck, I wanted to stain/seal the deck and power wash it but didn't want to spend the extra capital getting it professionally done. Agustin also helped walk me through products to look at, steps to properly power wash, and troubleshooting via text the whole way through. At one point, I mentioned that my Google caller ID had picked up another business name, Prime Construction Corp, and I wanted to verify if this was related to him or what the connection was. Agustin called me right away and explained that it was an old business they contracted with bigger vendors, but during COVID, they pivoted and no longer have any affiliation with that business. He was quite surprised it popped up with his number. We had a great laugh about it, and I really appreciated how straightforward he was with this information. I love his transparency and honesty throughout the whole process, and we even contacted him again about possibly screening in/putting a roof over our walkup basement door. He was very candid, advising that having the window on the side and a lack of trees nearby would attribute to more cost and effort than a solid result. After brainstorming, we came up with the idea of buying screens and velcroing them around the rails (haven't put this plan into action yet), but I very much appreciate his candor and encouragement that this is a project I can do myself. The entire project was done in roughly 3 days: two days of work back to back, and then 1 Saturday due to rain. The screen is so beautifully and meticulously done that it doesn't even look like a screen is there. His team also managed to perfectly match our current post layout when constructing a new post and adding a door. The door also comes with a cool feature: it has a window that slides down. They also included 2 new keys for the door, and Agustin did a full walkthrough with us to ensure we were fully happy with the results. Before completing the deck, his team also power washed the bug gunk off the deck and removed some of the remaining tape I had forgotten to remove when I stained the deck. He also offered to come back and install our ceiling fan once we actually pick one out. He's local and always just a short text away if I need anything. I cannot recommend Creative Exteriors Plus enough and absolutely rave about Agustin to everyone I know! Thank you so much for all of your hard work, and we will definitely be using you again in the near future for fencing/patio options.

AMAZING! From our very first meeting with Cliff (the company owner!) to the final walk-through with Sam, the project manager, the experience was exceptional every step of the way. The communication throughout the entire process was outstanding. Not once did we feel anything less than a top priority. Texts were answered within an hour, and emails were always returned within hours. That level of responsiveness gave us complete confidence and peace of mind. Mike, Pavlo, and Wade were the primary builders, and they were phenomenal. They treated us like rock stars during the entire three-and-a-half-week build. Mike, the lead carpenter, took the time to explain every phase of the project in detail, which my wife and I truly appreciated. Whitmer Decks removed our old deck and built a beautiful new 14x12 screened porch, along with a 10x10 deck and staircase. I'm no professional photographer, but the results speak for themselves--we are absolutely thrilled. We can't wait for warmer weather so we can fully enjoy our stunning new space. The craftsmanship is simply incredible. These guys are true artists. Every time we look at the work Whitmer Decks completed, we're blown away all over again. Thank you to Cliff, Sam, Mike, Pavlo, Wade, Keen--and Spark Roofing as well. You are all amazing, and we will not hesitate to give our highest recommendation to anyone who asks. I want to mention that their estimate/upgrade process was incredibly easy and actually fun to work with! Each upgrade came with about 5-10 photos that were VERY helpful in envisioning what the final product would actually look like! With gratitude, Shawn Purcell

Missed HOA deadline for May due to waiting on this final quote to make my decision to submit the application. Frustrating. They clearly didn't want the job or update your website to remove "deck replacement".

The construction team, Constantin (PM), and Tudor (Manager) were very easy to work with and responded to all our inquiries and took care of any issues promptly. This is not the case here, we contracted for a replacement deck and it was completed beautifully in a timely manner and at the agreed upon price. The reason for the negative review started out with poor communication and ended up with racism and sexism. I am having a really hard time understanding who wrote the positive reviews that I see posted here - it doesn't seem like it could be the same Tudor we dealt with. There were indications that communications were off early on but we didn't heed the warnings. Once the project got going Montgomery decks created a group chat with three project managers. While they were responsive to messages in the chat, nobody showed up at the project from the company post sales other than the subcontracted construction crew. Not at the beginning of the project, not in the middle, not at the end. We had minor questions about cleaning up the site (especially nails), missing materials and color plans, and restoration of an electrical outlet. We tried to ask these in the chat but it was hard to communicate that in text so we asked for a phone call. They initially resisted but shortly after Tudor called and he was extremely confrontational, accusing us as well as the subcontractors of causing problems. He agreed to visit the next morning and started pretty much where the phone call left off. He referred to the subcontractors as 'you know how THESE people are' to blame them, then turned to the subcontractors to tell them that we were refusing to pay so they would not get paid. Our payments were made immediately upon request and we never suggested we would not pay. Then Tudor asked to talk to me (male) instead of my partner (female) in what appeared to be overt sexism. We love the deck the subcontractors built but if we had to do it all over again we would not go with Montgomery Decks at any price and encourage others to do the same.

Very disappointing experience, especially given their high rating…read more We signed an agreement with Blue Collar Scholars at the end of June for a new front and back fence and paid several thousand dollars toward the project. We understood that permitting could take time, particularly because our home is in a historic district, and our contract did not guarantee a completion date. My issue is not that the permit has taken time, it is how little they seem to have done during the time they could control. Before hiring them, my wife had already attempted to submit the permit application herself. It took her about two hours to put everything together, and the application was returned because an architectural drawing was required. We gave Blue Collar Scholars all of the paperwork from that attempt when we signed, so they knew exactly what was needed. Yet throughout July, we were repeatedly told they were "gathering documents" and "finalizing" the application. The architect they work with didn't come out to take measurements until August. Since coordinating their architect is within the contractor's control, we cannot understand why this wasn't done in July while they were supposedly "preparing" the permit application. It is now September 29, more than three months after signing and paying the deposit, and we have no fence and no approved permit. We've now been told there were comments on the application and that installation will take another 3-4 weeks AFTER the permit is approved. I don't blame them for DC permitting delays or historic-district requirements. I do blame them for failing to use the time efficiently and for providing vague, noncommittal updates instead of clearly communicating what was actually happening. After more than three months and several thousand dollars paid toward the project, having no fence and no approved permit is an extremely frustrating experience. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Blue Collar Scholars.
