Cash only! Great service hot food! Good proximity to the park! Both our meals were under 9 dollars

Sausage, Egg and Cheese on a Breakfast Roll

*Cash Only* Mila Cafe is a great little spot for breakfast, dine-in or on the go. Hubby, his brother and myself stopped in to pick up a few breakfast sandwiches to-go. We all ordered the same thing: sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a breakfast roll. The sausage was in the form of a patty. This worked well since it covered the whole sandwich and it was very tasty. The egg was cooked well and the cheese was perfectly melted. I really enjoyed the breakfast roll - soft, freshly baked and held up well. The bottom slice soaked up the sausage flavor which was so yummy! This sandwich was great with ketchup as well as hot sauce! Friendly, fast service and affordable prices for NYC!

Mila Cafe is a hidden gem. During our visit to NYC last month, we popped into Mila Cafe for a quick breakfast before attacking our day. What a special treat!!! The staff are amazing and the food is even better. Convenient location with a stacked menu. One of the best parts about Mila Cafe was the young lady that was working the counter and also the barista. She was incredibly friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend!!!! We enjoyed our meal and experience so much, we memorialized our visit with a picture.

Bacon egg and cheese on a plain bagel

Perfect place to stop for a quick bite. We ordered breakfast sandwiches which were reasonably priced and prepared quickly. The lady at the counter was super nice and brought our sandwiches to our table when they were ready. I got a bacon egg and cheese on a plain bagel and it definitely met NYC standards in terms of taste and it hit the spot for sure. The only downside was I didn't see a bathroom available for customers, but then again I didn't ask so maybe there was one behind the counter. Either way, we would consider stopping here again and trying out the lunch or dinner menus!

SETUP: In NYC for turkey day -- looking for good affordable breakfast CAST: Mark and Suz SCENE: Late breakfast, 2nd visit ACTION: Well, this is our second visit and we plan to come again, this (clearly) local deli with (other than us) local patrons serves great coffee (that's right), and greets you with a very pleasant girl at the counter. And -- the food is good too! Now -- bring cash because there are eight signs saying so, but at these prices it's all good. Lots it people watching, great elevator music (I'm serious), great prices!

Excellent food at an affordable price on the Upper West Side! I don't know the name of the lady working the front, but she was there both times we came in and she was just a delight! She was so nice and sweet and her personality alone was enough for us to want to come back! I ordered the Alps Panini and it was perfectly grilled with a generous amount of ham. Breakfast is also really good and the chai is excellent! Keep in mind this place is cash only.

I was very pleased with my breakfast. I had the 2eggs scrambled with home fries, a toasted bagel and orange juice.

I was very pleased with my breakfast. I had the 2eggs scrambled with home fries, a toasted bagel and orange juice. The price was absolutely reasonable. The guy in at the counter was alllll smiles and he made u feel very welcome and important. I think he was the owner. I advise you bring cash because they do not take cards. I had to run to Walgreens across the street to the ATM and he was very understanding, because of that I definitely tipped him. I wish everyone was that sweet to customers. Now that's what I called customer service. They still making great food

    Omelets and Taso 's Special
    Wendy Q.

I was looking for a breakfast place and came by Mila Cafe and decided to give it a try because of the high yelp reviews. Taso's Special was good and the food was fresh but there was too much cheese on it. I was really excited to try their homemade fries because it looked so good but they didn't have it that day which was upsetting. The food was pretty good overall and the service was exceptional, the staff was very helpful and created a really nice environment. They also only accepted cash when I went there.

Food is good, reasonably priced and friendly staff but cash only limits my decision to go to Mila for breakfast.

It's the kind of place that makes you want to sit down, slow down, and actually enjoy your wine. The wine selection is well curated -- great variety whether you're into bold reds, crisp whites, or something a bit more unique. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to guide you without making it feel intimidating, which really enhances the experience. And the food is just as impressive -- absolutely amazing, thoughtfully prepared, and perfect for pairing with wine. Every bite feels intentional and elevated rather than an afterthought. This space feels more like a full-service restaurant than a café. They offer a full menu featuring Georgian dishes, and my friend tried khachapuri for the first time and loved it. The server mixed the egg into the cheese tableside, which was a nice touch. I also noticed several people stopping in for an early dinner. Seating is comfortable but mostly communal, with long shared tables. My biggest issue here was the service, which unfortunately was very poor. Something as simple as getting sweetener for my tea required tracking down our waiter multiple times, and requests were repeatedly forgotten. My tea water even went cold while waiting. Despite the cute atmosphere, the service experience was frustrating enough that I don't think I'd return for a full meal.

My bf really loved the falafel bowl plate dish and said the falafel was crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. I had some of his pita with the labneh which was divine! Really tasty olive oil. Tuna melt was just as delicious and satisfying as in person. I was surprised the toasted bread was still crispy and not soggy at all like it often can get from take out. I also appreciate that Effys always uses only perfectly ripe avocados it is so noticeable! Also their fried pickles are dangerously good, and their prices are very reasonable. First of all, I have to mention the prices: we got 6 pastries and 2 hot chocolates for just over $40: a steal in this economy. Second, it was mostly authentic: the "francia krémes" (which they call a "Napoleon" here for some reason) was quite close to how they serve it in Hungary, save for the caramelized and sickeningly sugary top (which I skipped). The "dobos torta" had the reverse problem: its top--the eponymous "drum"--was authentic, but the meat of it far, far too chocolatey. Guys, a slice of "dobos" is NOT supposed to put you in a diabetic coma! It is not even meant to be very chocolatey! It is supposed to be much more subtle, even savory. The pastries we took home, which included several "rétesek," received high reviews as well. The servers were nice, but did not speak Hungarian. My only other critique would be that the space is incredibly cramped. You will be elbow-to-elbow with various Columbia students. My companion also told me the bathroom was filthy.
