3/12/24 I had a brachioplasty (arm lift) and a breast lift/reduction with Dr. Obeng of MiKO Plastic Surgery. Both procedure's I have been wanting for over 10yrs. I live out of state and from the moment of my first email inquiry and virtual consultation I received nothing but timely and professional responses from Crystal, who was absolutely great and patient with all of my inquires as well as addtional fyi. I arrived in Beverly Hills 2 days prior to surgery and had a in person consult the day before surgery. Beth is the first person I saw upon walking in the office and she is an incredible asset with a wealth of information and words of comfort and encouragement to put you at ease. She was always there smiling, helpful and personable. Dr. Obeng's presence in itself is professional, comforting and reassuring. His avuncular manner lets you know right away you are in good hands and puts you at ease immediately. It is clear to literally see why many come from near and afar for their cosmetic and corrective procedures. He is great at what he does. Dr. Obeng takes his time with; conveying information, any inquires you have, his prepping and his procedures. Needless to say I felt very reassured. I did my research and had comparative rates from where I live, Chicago and he was very comparable and most significantly whom I wanted for my procedures! What I liked most in my first conversation with Crystal was the goal of minimal scaring especially with African American skin, though everyone heals differently, that was one of my great concerns and to hear it addressed before I mentioned it was a good start for me. The amount of pain I would be in coming out of anesthesia was a concern as well and again everyone is different and for myself, in all honesty my pain was minimal, after the first day I did not really need my pain meds. If anything there is more discomfort with the compression and gauze, but beauty hurts and that is a small price to pay for admirable life long results. I stayed for 4 days after my surgery and felt that was a good decision for me. Dr. Obeng saw me the next day post surgery and 1 more time that week before I left, as well as continued virtual follow-ups post surgery. I wish I would have met him when I initially had cosmetic work done & went thru four (4) different cosmetic plastic surgeon doctors thru the years of needing work done. He is now my "go-to doc" for ANY & ALL future cosmetic work. It's a no-brainer why countless celebrities hire him. I had a total of 5 cosmetic procedures that he performed on me. It was split in (2) two different days. The entire experience was fabulous not only with Dr. Obeng / Dr. Miko but also w/ his adorable & helpful office staff. One (1) of the five (5) procedures that I had done was very unique. Dr. Miko is one of the few in the world that knows how to perfectly do this. BEWARE: MISCONDUCT, INS. FRAUD, MALPRACTICE, ARRESTED IN GHANA, INAPPROPRIATE SEXUAL CONDUCT AND MORE Read this before wasting a $500 consultation fee like I did. I'm an RN w/ exp. in Med/Surgical Nsg, so I notice things others don't.  Here is my experience w/ Dr. Obeng during my April 2021 consultation. 1) I witnessed staff without masks, incl. two of them eating lunch at the front desk, a large platter of cookies at the front desk for everyone to share (during a pandemic, April '21 when most people were not yet vaccinated?!)  (In March '2021, Dr. O threw himself a SUPER-SPREADER Birthday "Charity" Bash w/ unmasked party-goers) 2) I Witnessed staff gossiping about a patient and her procedure (HIPAA violation) in the lobby. 3) During my consult/exam, Dr. O allowed a (healthcare?) "visitor" from Florida and his staff (Natasha) to be present during my exam without my consent. I'm not sure of Natasha's role.  When I asked at a later date, she said "none of your business" 4) Dr. O asked to see my breasts even though I expressed I was "very happy" w/ my natural breasts and had no desire for any breast procedure(s). I was mortified. 5) Dr. O blatantly lied about his experience/outcomes regarding certain procedures, and gave erroneous, fabricated stats regarding other high risk procedures making it impossible for me to make an informed decision.  6) The surgical prices quoted were literally 2 to 10 times (not exaggerating) that of other Beverly Hills surgeons which would have been one thing if he were the best, but his license is literally hanging by a prayer (keep reading).  7) After experiencing the aforementioned, I started investigating his license, history etc. and found out the following:  1) On April 22, 2021, the CA State's Attorney and CA Board of Medicine published a 17 PAGE REPORT after an investigation which substantiated the following allegations against Dr. O by several patients including: INS. FRAUD, MISCONDUCT, MALPRACTICE, GROSS NEGLIGENCE ETC.  You can read the report by desktop/laptop (not cellphone) by going to:   MBC.CA.GOV, click on License Search, Scroll Down to Choose License Type, Search by Name or License No.  Choose License Type as: Physicians and Surgeons (important), and type in Michael Obeng in the First and Last Name Fields.  Click on the License Number.  Scroll Down to Public Documents.  Click on "Accusation/Petition to Revoke".  Open the 17 page document.   I also looked for any past and pending malpractice suits in the L.A. County Courts database and found more than I could print (you pay per page), some cases are still pending.  I also spoke to other patients from Yelp who plan to file suit. I read the content of several of the suits.  Much like the many 1 star reviews, patients accused Dr. O of malpractice, mutilation, deformity, permanent disability and more.  3) I discovered that Dr. O's 3rd wife very publicly and frequently stated he was a sex deviant, "likes hookers", "has sex w/ patients", "orgies" and "uses drugs".  When I called to request a refund of my consultation fee, both Natasha and Dr. O stated, "No refunds, You should have done your homework first".  Dr. O blatantly lied about the Board's findings, stating he was "in good standing".  Since that time, I also learned through public documents, Dr. O has recently been sued by his office's landlord and accounting firm for non-payment of rent and accounting fees. His wife recently shared with reporters that he is $1.5 MIL in arrears for child support and in contempt. According to Ghanaian newspapers, Dr. O was arrested in an August '21 sting along with others in Ghana for practicing without proper credentials, operating out of hotels, and charging inappropriate consultation fees.   I don't know about you, but I prefer that my surgeon be focused on providing quality care, not fighting malpractice suits, promoting super-spreader events, trying to get on reality t.v., and charging ridiculous consultation fees just to make money to keep the lights on. To explore the sources of my findings yourself:  Google "Gorilla Glue Dr. Ghana Arrest", "Veronika Obeng Husband Hookers", or use the aforementioned government sites to view court history and information regarding licensing investigation.  (some photos of documents are provided, but there are too many to post). (Funny how I can't find any mention of this event or any recent activity on the website of the charity in question.) Oh, also, be aware, the staff may record your phone calls. When I asked for my clinical records for the 5th time, Natasha went nuts and stated, "We have an attorney and I'm recording you!" Apparently this is common operations for a practice that is constantly being sued. I am a former patient of Michael. June of 2020, I had breast implants removed and replaced. As I waited in his filthy practice, there was alcoholic bottles and food plates everywhere from the previous night (pandemic party was help during lockdown), a process server walked in to serve Michael with malpractice lawsuit. Michael arrived 3 1/2 hours late for surgery. Anesthesiologist Cancelled last minute due to possibly contracting Covid from staff party (this is what I was told). I asked Natasha if I could cancel surgery altogether. I was told no, and that I would not receive refund if I did. Michael is poorly trained. His cosmetic work is garbage. Michael disfigured my breast. He kept assuring me I would heal nicely. That never happened. While I was being prepped for surgery, he interviewed my 12 year old daughter for his social media without consent. He's clearly a predator! Natasha acted as my nurse (patient coordinator) she disposed my IV and bloody gauze in regular trash. 1 year later, I returned for a revision. He butchered me. I had many complications and I could not get Michael on the phone. I was told by office staff he was being held by police in Ghana for performing illegal surgery out of hotel. I did not know the brand or size of implants I had. His staff never registered them. Also, Michael Obeng doesn't keep proper medical records. None of this basic information was in my med record. I highly advise to thoroughly research this so called Dr. He has multiple malpractice lawsuits, doesn't have an aesthetic eye for cosmetic surgery, and changes his staff frequently. I can not say enough positive things about my experience at Miko plastic Surgery, as well as the team and Dr. Obeng himself. I first went into his office as a consult for weight loss surgery, to be followed by a mommy make over. So I had a gastric balloon for 6 months, lost 37 lbs learned a lot about myself in the process. (Non evasive procedure) but man was it a life changing experience. I then followed up with my mommy make over. I am now two weeks post surgery......... I had a $500 consultation with Dr. Michael Obeng. While I was in waiting room, a process server walked in to try an serve him. His front staff was extremely rude, lied and said Dr. Michael Obeng was not inside offices. I felt really uncomfortable and immediately knew I wasn't going to move forward with surgery. After consulting with Dr. Michael Obeng it was evident he was not well versed in plastic surgery. I asked if I could have my initial consultation refunded and I was told no and to do my research next time. I did just that. Google is a great search engine. 07/02/2020 I had my ribs removed I was very scared in nervous but I got it done. Michael was great I got to meet him before and after surgery. I'm so disappointed on this place a friend of my recommend this place i called to setup an appointment. I came in on time and the receptionist told me that the doctor was busy with a patient. I wait an hr I went to put money on my meter when I got back the receptionist tells me that the doctor was to behind with his work so they could see me. That was soooooo unprofessional they have me waiting 2 hours and after the two hours they have the courage to tell me that they can see me. Unreal!!!!! I ended up hospitalized right after my procedure had an emergency operation and needed a blood transfusion since I was bleeding out .. had to spend 2 nights in the hospital!!!!that was 4 weeks ago still can't sit or walk for long periods of time and still on bed rest .. thank god for the surgeon at Kaiser that saved my life. This review is based on the super bad vibe I got from my consultation. I went in because I heard them advertising on power 106. I go in and everyone is super nice. The girl in the front had super fake looking boobs. So I go into this little room it's not even like a patient room. It just has a recliner seat. And the girl tells me to take my top and bra off. Then 10 minutes later Dr. obeng comes in and is very quiet and asks me what I want done. I tell him I want a breast aug and he also me asks what size implant I want. I told him I wanted to be a full C and for them to look natural. Then he tells me to show him how big I want them by cupping my hands over my breast. I found this a little weird. Then he said he would make them look nice. He did not bother explaining how the procedure would work or how long the recovery would be. Nothing at all! Instead I had to keep asking questions and he kept giving super short answers and treated me like I was stupid for not knowing. Then I told him I wanted the incision to be done through the nipple and he said NO the incision will be made under the breast and I told him I didn't want that because I didn't want any visible scarring. And he refused and said it was easier to place the implant if the incision is done under the breast. Since he was the first dr I consulted with I didn't say anything else after that. So then I asked him how long before I could go back to work and he said 2 days also that's not what I had read or heard from others. Then I asked how long before I could go back to the gym. And he said 2 weeks. Also not what I had read or been recommended from other Drs. So then he told me he had other patients to see and that one of the girls could answer any other questions I had. Then I went into the office to check pricing. He wanted to charge about $8,000. The girl that helped me wanted to book me so soon i felt like I was being rushed. She even has me apply for care credit right there and to place the deposit. I ended up paying a $1000 deposit because she was so persuasive. She didn't want to give me time to think about it. I left feeling so uneasy and nervous. I ended up thinking about it over the weekend and on Monday morning I went back and practically demanded for my deposit back. I ended up losing 10% of it but it was worth not going through with my surgery with him. I ended up waiting about 4 months and found the perfect dr. He the dr I ended up doing my ba with explained everything very throughly and made me feel so comfortable. I'm so glad I backed out and didn't go through the surgery with dr obeng. I have been a client at this dr.obeng's Office for 6 months. I would def not recommend this place due to lack of professionalism with the staff (May, Robbie and Sahar) as well as the doctor's skill. I'll start off by saying I have had fillers in my lips and immediately after got an infection in my lip which lasted a month, (photos below) and not to mention my insurance was charged $5,000. Also they charged my insurance 10,000 dollars for obagi creams because my insurance didn't cover it and they lied and said it was for a nose job. (Photos below) The obagi creams also left my skin with spots and in reality only cost them $300 the most. Also I was askd if I wanted to lose weight by the receptionist (Sahar) which I responded yes and was so pose to be given vitamins but was given a prescription of amphetamine by her!! which was not by a doctor, doctor Obeng was on vacation. She also copied his signature and stamp which I discovered later. Once taking the medicine prescribed I had an allergic reaction and immediately stopped taking the pills went in the office to see the doctor. He stated that he would give me a free service for the trouble and asked me not to sue them. Also his wife was contacting me being extra friendly to stop me from being honest as well. I'm under the assumption that the pills that were giving to me without the doctors orders and were only given in an effort to take more from my insurance and be taken advantage once again. Also I have sent them many referrals and friends only to find out that they have been taken advantage of as well being international students and not knowing much about there insurance policy's. After dealing with all this I've tried contacting the office to resolve the matter and they said they were no longer excepting me as a client. When I asked them why they said they would call back with more info and never responded to the matter. Not only does the dr. Lack skill which caused my infection they are also crooked and have taken advantage of me and my insurance plan. I would def not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Hello Everyone, Well let me tell you about my experience; I LOVE with my new boobs n my new bleaching baby looking bottom... Today is my fourth day after my surgery and i feel wonderful. i have no pain what so ever and i might stop drinking my medication since i don't feel any pain what so ever. I usually never write good reviews but, i am good at complaining. It seems now in days ppl don't care about you and just want your money and as soon as they have it they don't care about you as much. It took me about one year to find the right doctor. Seriously, i am not kidding...every time i will go for a consultation doctor will come in and say 'hi' (not so friendly either) will talk about how good he can have my boobs looking and will be out in 10 min. Later some lady will talk to me about pricing and make me feel so pressure to tell her the date when i wanted to do my boobs give me this big quote and how much i would save if i would do my boobs the same month. Every where i went i just hated the pressure and how they rush me and go around my questions or just tell me what i wanted to hear instead what truly was realistic. Ana, Becky and Dr. Obeng are just the perfect team of experts that one can relay too. Ana and Becky witch are the office staff always treated me with respect and as friend. Ana and Dr. Obeng will follow up with me before my surgery to see if i had any suggestions or thoughts about how i wanted my boobs to look. I had a procedure done a year ago and the work was flawless. Dr. Obeng was very low key and just had a sensibility on my face. Aftercare was great and he did some laser on me. I know every big name surgeon and I felt comfortable and have since recommended others. Natasha was terrific as was the entire staff, Furthermore I also became involved with RESTORE which is a great charitable endeavor and they do wonders reconstructing faces on cancer patients, He has a great story and persevered without anyone's assistance based on talent and intelligence. I met with Dr. Obeng back in December at a consultation for my partner. After learning about her concerns I asked Doctor about neck and back problems I have had for years. Turns out that my questions regarding a breast reduction were justified! The entire staff was helpful, caring and sincere. They worked diligently to make sure my insurance covered the operation in a timely manner and more importantly that I was comfortable having the surgery. Miko Plastic Surgery of Beverly Hills did my rhinoplasty surgery and it was the best decision of my life. I'm so glad I went to Dr. Obeng for my rhinoplasty, he did a great job and was worth every penny. Do not skimp and be cheap when it comes to your surgeon-you get what you pay for! He is such a good doctor!! He accomplished everything I asked for! I work in the medical field so I know a good Dr when I see one. His follow through was amazing. First, he stops in the room before surgery to make sure your ok and he goes over the surgery with you so your on the same page before surgery. He does many follow up phone calls to make sure you are ok and in no pain, I had a reaction to the antibiotic on day 4 of post-op. I had to call the answering service because it was a Sunday and the office was closed. He called me back within 10 minutes and called in a different antibiotic. Usually doctors do not follow through this much! Dr.Obeng is a true professional when it comes to surgeons. First off, when I first decided to visit Miko's, my very first experience was very shaky. The staff wasn't professional, the office was pretty ran down(compared to the other facilities i had visited) and Natasha, was very rude. After the doctor finally decided to come out and see me, he kinda eased the tension a little bit. So after a week or two, I finally decided to book my appointment to have my surgery. The only reason I decided to go with Miko's was because a collection of decent reviews, the fact that they accepted my financing, and I was impressed with what Miko had accomplished back home helping his country. So about two weeks later, a day before my surgery, I ran into a friend of mine at an event. I was discussing my surgery with her as I was very excited to finally get my procedure that I had been trying to get done for years because I've been very insecure about my body . I then mentioned who was doing the surgery and she informed me to NOT TO GO THERE. She was veery adamant about me not going to see Dr, Miko for my procedure. She actually lost out on $3,000 down payment because she decided not to go through with her procedure with this facility.I then became very nervous. I was trusting this doctor with my body and life while my intuition was telling me not too. The only reason I went through with it because they had already charged my care credit $13,000 and I was informed that it could not e reversed by there office. Being excited to finally get the procedure done , I went through with it. That's where the nightmare begin. So later that day, I went home to shower and noticed that the doctor never completed the surgery that he was informed to complete. I was supposed to receive a gynecomastia procedure,, lipo suction and ab etching! I noticed that the glands in my chest were never removed! I then informed the doctor about my worried and he informed me that he didn't think that they should be removed BUT, I paid them to perform that procedure and we both agreed that it was going to be completed but never was. Also, I had to come out of pocket with an additional $300 for a surgical vest when I was never informed before the procedure that I had to purchase. At this point, I was livid. The main reason why I got the procedure done because I was so insecure about my chest and because the glands were starting to cause me a lot of pain. So I informed the office about my concerns and they eventually got back to me about coming into the office to schedule a revision because I had paid for a procedure that I did not receive. So I had to fly from Atlanta, BACK to LA to see the doctor about my revision. He agreed to do the revision after being seen. I then had to speak with Natasha to do the scheduling of the revision and she informed me that I had to PAY an additional $2,000 that day in order to schedule the revision. I was beyond upset because I was told I had to pay additional money for a procedure that was never completed. The doctors assistant never told me about charging me again for their mistake, so I wasted an additional $600 for a round trip ticket to LA,just to be let down by a doctor I trusted and believed in. I am livid just typing this. So here I am, 4 months after my proocedure, very un happy with the surgery and level of professionalism. Still with the same insecurities and same pain in my chest as before. I would NOT recommend this office to anyone! Due to the lack of professionalism, them performing half surgery's then trying to recharge you for their botched surgery mistake and their lack of communication. I'm just over 4 months post-op from breast reduction surgery. I am still healing, but I love, love, love the results. Dr. Obeng is a highly skilled and caring surgeon! I am so happy with my new twins, which are now symmetrical and where they belong (with and without a bra). I have had no back or shoulder pain since my reduction, which had plagued my life for many years. I first met Dr. Obeng in early 2013 for a less invasive procedure before he opened his own practice. My mother Linda just received a BBL from Dr. Obeng and I must say this was an amazing experience for her and I. The staff in his office were amazing and professional making us feel very comfortable on all of our visits even before the surgery day. Dr. Obeng was very good at explaining and deliberating what my mom wanted and how he could get her to the results. Surgery day she arrived at his office and was greeting ever so kindly by the entire staff. He even had a meal for me while I waited for her. After he surgery she felt AMAZING. Which was surprising to me because I had my breast done by a different doctor and was unable to get up and move for a month. She was back up and ready to move in extremely little time. I had been wanting to have some non-invasive work done for quite some time, but was afraid of the many horror stories I had heard about. Fortunately I have good doctors like Dr L. Greig and Dr M. Billips that I am very close to and they recommended Dr Michael Obeng. I set up a consultation with him and was very impressed with his calm nature and mannerisms. I was equally impressed with the charity work that he does across the Country for the special men, women, and children that need his help in order to live an accepted existence and be happy. I normally don't write reviews but I felt this deserved it because Dr. One go of Beverly Hills is beyond amazing. His staff has has been wonderful, welcoming, and comforting. I am 24 hours post tt and WAS very self-conscious about my body. I felt comfortable with them the minute I walked in. Dr. Obeng answered my email on the weekend from home before i booked my sx and he didn't have to but he went above and beyond to help me and answer a thousand questions. I have had multiple surgeries done by Dr. Obeng in Beverly Hills. After having gastric bypass surgery a couple years ago, my body lost well over a 100 pounds and my body was left with very loose and unwanted skin. I started researching plastic surgeons and met with one where I live in Pasadena. Although I was not completely sold on my surgeon, I paid a $300 deposit. However, I just did not have a great feeling and continued my research.  That's when I was able to find Dr. Obeng on the Internet when searching for plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills and did a lot of research prior to meeting him. At first when we met Dr. Obeng presented me with a beautiful consultation showing me what my body could look like if he did a lower body lift and breast lift. I really wanted to have both procedures done at the same time. Over the last couple years I have been beyond THRILLED ever since the surgeries. I remember while I was healing, I realized that this was the first time in my adult life that I loved my body I never felt so confident about myself before. I was well healed and I continue to exercise. A couple months later, in August, 2014, Dr. Obeng and his friendly staff then performed an arm and thigh lift on me as well. He took off 12lbs with my first surgery and a couple more lbs with my second surgery and I have successfully maintained my 130-140 lb. weight loss goal. I thought my breasts were terrible before, and I now think they are beautiful. I truly have the body I once only dreamed of. I had multiple scars that eventually healed very healthy. I still have a flabby fat on my arms but nothing huge. Dr. Obeng is a very knowledged.
