My Whirlpool refrigerator's ice machine isn't working, so I called Whirlpool for assistance. They referred me to LAR Service Center. John, the technician, came on the appointment day. He assessed the situation and unplugged the ice box and re-plugged it back in. It did look like the ice machine started to work again, but he advised to call if the machine wasn't working again. I called 4 days later (2 minute call) because I realized the ice machine still wasn't working. The gentleman on the phone said he wasn't aware of the service and asked me to email the invoice to LARService@verizon.net, which i did on the same day that I called. I called back 1 week later to get a status about the ice machine order (4 minute call). The lady who picked up this time said the order was placed, but she wasn't sure when the ice machine will arrive because the timeline wasn't provided in their system. She confirmed my phone number and indicated she will call me back when she had a date to provide. 2.5 weeks later, I still haven't heard back, so i called again and another lady answered. I mentioned the situation and then she mentions that she sees the service invoice but no one ordered the ice maker replacement because they were waiting for me to call. I did mention that i called on 2 separate occasions and even sent an email. They denied that they would never request an email. She pretty much disregarded the fact that i mentioned I called on 2 separate occasions asking about the ice maker replacement. No apology for the miscommunication but straight up denial. Overall, I really appreciated the technician John to try to fix my ice machine, but the customer service on the phone needs some work. They must have different operators with no good track of call record keeping. Luckily I use my cell, so i have the call history saved on my phone. This summer has been super hot without a working ice machine. Hopefully they actually ordered it this time around... read more

We had recently purchased a fridge from Costco and within a week had a mishap with a broken piece for the ice machine. Costco had referred and sent out Mike from LAR service. He had called and requested any information and pictures to help speed up the process for both ends. After I had sent the needed information Mike contacted me and decided to have a whole new ice bin sent out and we received it the next day. Mike was quick to the point and didn't waste my time. He had made sure the fridge was back to working order and mentioned not hesitating to call back if needed. My wife and I were hopeful that with the recent change in ownership, this local Wakefield appliance store would rebound into what the new ownership, led by "Mike" proclaimed was going to happen. Self admittedly he, upon our placing a service call to this store that installed a new Jenn Air dual fuel stove into our kitchen 5 years ago. We bought this second Jenn Air down draft unit after experiencing a stove fire on our first model. Jenn Air is now owned by Frigidaire at a cost of $3,800 for the commercial model stainless steel. The stove control panel started to fail and finally quit on us. Very few appliance stores will repair them we learned. LAR and one other in Boston were the only choices. Since they installed the unit we called them. Initially, we were pleased that new owners were in place. We thought perhaps they have a chance of making it!?? Mike came out himself and looked at the stove and wrote up the two components needed to get it working again citing we might do better on EBay ordering them ourselves and he'd come back and install them. Found one part, then needed to call Jenn Air for help in locating the other. Finally, with parts in hand, we called and "John" one of the newly hired techs came out at 4 pm to complete the job and get us up and running again. He arrived, looked at the stove, said..."I don't have time to get into this now. Lemme talk to Mike and we'll get back to you!!?? (Lousy attitude). Two weeks later. No follow up. Then our son flies home for the holidays. He's a highly successful cinematographer and filmmaker and tech savvy. It's Xmas day after now. Been using a $300 countertop oven for some time now. Our son says, I bet I can fix it. So, he dials up several YouTube videos, finds a forum with details on self diagnostics. Pulls out the two bad control boards. Follows the forum posts on the same model. Swaps out the new parts. Plugs them all together. (1 hour), runs the diagnostic tests. All clear. Puts the cover plates back on. Bingo!! Working like a champ again. We were all set to buy a new model (not a Jenn Air) and drop $2,800 or so. No need. So... no follow up. Bad attitude and we would have been hosed, that's even if they could have figured what the problem was. $$$. Stay away from these guys. You're inviting trouble for yourself!! And expensive incompetence if a 32 yr old young man whose never seen the inside of a stove before can fix it using his brain!! read more

Absolutely pathetic. My whirlpool refrigerator was having problems and was under warranty, so they told me to call this place. They sent out a repair person who didn't know what he was doing at all. He said he'd order parts and it would take a week. After 1.5 weeks I called, and they couldn't find anything about this, even though I had an order number. They said they'd call the repair person and would call back. They didn't. I called back again and another person answered, who informed me that since she had been on vacation for two weeks nothing was their fault. She proudly proclaimed that they didn't use computers and didn't leave notes for each other there. She said the repair person would call me back. The next day the repair person called me, and clearly didn't remember who I was, so I had to re-describe the problem. He said he'd order parts and it would be another week. It has been 2 weeks since then and I still haven't heard from them, and I don't expect to. Had an appointment to repair dishwasher all set when some rude, nasty asshat from this company calls to tell me they can't do it the day scheduled since they have no appoints available. I simply mention that the GE website allowed the appointment to be booked. Asshat got nasty and told me he would cancel the appointment and I could call back to GE. I set up through whirlpool an appointment to fix my new refrigerator door. This all done through email. I received a confirmation email. The next day it was cancelled. I called L.A.R. to asked why it was cancelled. The woman on the phone started yelling at me immediately. I said whoa back up. She continued to yell, because we are busy! Then hung up. I would give this zero stars if I could. Came to repair my 15 month old washer. Claimed it needed a new $700 computer panel. Maytag agreed to cover it even though the machine was out of warranty. LAR returned to install the new panel. When he was done there was an error message on the display panel. He told me to call Maytag to clear the error message which they were able to walk me through. When that was cleared the machine had the exact same issues as before -- still not working. They charged Maytag $700 for absolutely nothing. When I called them there was no answer and although I left a message, I never got a call back. I also had the same issues with scheduling an appt. online and then having them call and cancel. A technician came to inspect my under-warranty washing machine. Mike arrived, said he'd order the part, and promised a callback within a few days, which never happened. They haven't returned my calls, and I recently discovered they falsely reported to the warranty company that the job was completed, claiming to have replaced the tub, tap button, and other parts. The warranty company paid them, and now my warranty has expired without the job being done. They strung me along for weeks and refused to complete the work. I never write reviews but I needed to for this one! Mike kept asking us to give a good review which I understand now since there are so many bad reviews. Terrible experience with this company. Wish I researched this company before I called them. They came out 8 times and we now have a refrigerator that is broken with other problems we did not originally have. Our original problem with the fridge was that it would randomly shut off and we would have to reset the breaker. We now have a fridge that has a broken water and ice dispenser. This was not broken before Mike came out to fix our fridge. Every time they came out, something else would not work. The last time they came out they said they will research what was wrong and come back to fix it once and for all. That was over a month ago and we left 3 messages and they are now ghosting us. I hope these guys step on so many legos barefoot! Came out in Aug for a warranty repair, said the part would be a few weeks. Called after 3 and I was told they'll try to expedite it. Called back after another 3/4 weeks the part time person doesn't know anything about it, didn't see an order. Called GE to try and escalate and they also couldn't get ahold of someone. Called back another week and a half later. " oh we have the part, I don't know why no one called you"... cool. Guy should be coming out on sat between 8-12. 3pm i get a call he's on his way, he unhooks EVERYTHING. The original part ordered is not the correct one, it's a different issue all together. Now the dryer doesn't work AT ALL bc he left everything unhooked. We're told he'll call us on Monday and personally order it himself. Silence. I call back Wednesday and no further communication. The guy on the phone is talking bad about and putting down the technician who showed up on sat. FINALLY GE reassigned to a new company bc I'm sick and tired of dealing with LAR for 3 months without any resolution or communication. The new service comes out and looks like in addition to disconnecting a bunch of stuff and not reconnecting it at all they also took pieces with them so the new service provider can't diagnose the issue bc there's missing parts. read more

Have to say I never write reviews until now - When i scheduled service thru the GE Appliance Service website I was provided with a confirmation number and a window of 1-5pm to obtain service. I took time off from work and lost pay to meet this time window. When i arrived at noon I found the LAR card in my door. When calling, i was greeting with the agents cussing and using strong curse words amongst themselves in the background. I had asked if they were swearing at me, they said no they were swearing at each other. After dealing with those difficulties, I was told that they only come to my area in the morning and the tech started hollering at regarding a reschedule of the service. I asked if he was shouting at me because it sound like he was. It was then that he hung up on me. I've already contact GE regarding the services, ( or lack there of) that their partners provide. Under a warranty plan, he came to repair my dishwasher and said I just needed to turn on the hot water 1st. I tried this and it did not work. I had to call him 5 times before he called me back. Owner Mike Jannuzzi was great. I told him what washer machine I wanted, he ordered it for me and came in days later. Mike set up the delivery and the machine was delivered on-time. Upon delivery, I had a rusted/leaky pipe. Mike called a plumber for me and he showed up within an hour and fixed the pipe problem! The worst appliance repair service I ever worked with. Why did I work with them? Because they take repairs from GE and I didn't even know they were using an external company. If you have a choice, look around for someone else. I agree with previous comments, when you call it looks like you are bothering them and it's hard to say whether the guy that picks up the phone is under the influence of something. Also, they lied, they kept saying they didn't receive the parts from GE, so I checked with GE directly and, actually, they did receive them weeks ago. Stay away, you have been warned. HORRIBLE SERVICE! These people were sent to my home via the insurnace provide for our dryer repair. They left a bill and said it wasn't covered under warranty. When we called insurnace they said it would be taken care of and it was covered. The owner and his wife then called me screaming at me that I owed them money. I explained that insurnace was covering and they told me that insurnace never contacted them but admitted that insurnace sent them out. This company doesnt know how to run a business. They are a service center and suck at their main job. They came out to look at the fridge and ordered the part. I waited for a call to set up the repair and never received one. I called them to set it up. They gave me a time slot and the guy never showed or called to say he couldnt make it. I called him 3 times and left a voicemail and received nothing. I called the office and they said "I dont know why he didnt show up". Asked if he could come out soon and he said "they only come to the area once a week". It is a 30 min drive. When you screw up, you make it work! Depending who you get they can be good... my experience started pretty bad and ended up taking a full week for a simple task. The first technician showed up to replace a dishwasher, George, was very rude and unable to complete the task. I asked him to let me know when he was done so I could check it before he left. He was very confrontational about this request and eventually conceded that he would inform me before he left. Despite his reassurance that he was a professional and did not need supervision, I came down to find that he had broken a bracket while installing it and did not say anything about it. When I asked him about the broken bracket which he had left on the counter, he tried to tell me that it was supposed to be that way and that he had to break it to make it look better. He eventually became belligerent and we had to talk to his supervisor, Arthur, and ask for a different technician to come out and complete the task. Arthur was helpful and apologetic, and set up a follow visit with John who was very competent and professional. Thus far, absolutely horrible service. I was scheduled for an appointment August 31, 2013 at my new condo in Peabody, which uses an intercom system. I made 3 separate calls before connecting to anyone to make sure they would use the intercom and not the phone number on the Lowes' account (because the refrigerator was purchased on my parents' Lowes card--you know, for their Reward Points). LAR tech shows up, neglects to use the intercom, calls my parents instead of me, and promptly leaves. Tough day for everyone. Also experienced unpleasant service a few years ago in Woburn. Tech arrives and after initial inspection, issues a big quote. I pay the labor for the day and choose not to opt into service. Instead, I completed a DIY job w/ no probs. Hate to pile on, but my dishwasher repair was delayed over a week because it was originally assigned by GE to this business. My repair was scheduled and confirmed for Thursday 1-5 on the GE website. The day before Wednesday, I got a call at 7 am from the owner/repair guy Mike that he would be coming to my home from Haverhill. I didnt answer the call or confirm because honestly I was asleep. Despite this, he still apparently drove there as I found a magnet with his business name on it in my door. All I can guess is he gets a list of jobs and just shows up whenever he wants, even on the wrong day. If youre ready great, if not youre out of luck. I called both his cell and his nusiness numbers to see if he was still coming the next day or if I could reschedule, left messages but unsurprisingly no response or return call. To end the story- I was at first thrilled a few hours later to get a return call from Mikes cell! However after a few seconds of listening to various clicking and rustling noises while I shouted HELLO it became apparent Mike had delivered the final insult- he butt dialed me! read more

When my appliance manufacturer decided to send L.A.R to service our new expensive range, the first thing I did was to Google it. What, a third party service center? These reviews appeared and made me apprehensive. I almost canceled the appointment. I'm happy to report that my experience was very positive. John, came over once to diagnose the issue, ordered the right part, and returned to finish the job. He was on time both times. When he was working on the range, I could tell that he knew his stuff inside and out. He was careful and probably could even do the work with his eyes closed. I can't believe how positive everyone here is towards this horrible joke of a business. That was a joke of course. I was directed to these clowns from Frigidaire for a warranty repair. It took them nearly three weeks to come to my house. The guy who came found out what was wrong and it included replacing several parts and electronics boards. Big job. And then he told me he couldn't do it! That it would take months for them to get the parts and pointed me to another business who, when I called, told me they didn't do warranty repairs at all. First lie. I then had to call them back but now they refused to come. Then I called Firgidaire who literally forced them to set up an appointment with all three of us on the phone. Again a two week wait, but they never showed up! Second lie No call, just didn't show! I called Frigidaire again and for the third time LAR promised to show up, but they didn't. Third lie. Now Frigidaire are trying to find someone else who can come and do the job and that is taking time also. Two months have passed and this joke of a business has had me wait for two full days at home without even bothering to call and tell me they wouldn't make it. I do not really know what to say about this other than: STAY AWAY from these people. Frigidaire should also. What a horrible experience! I have a new refrigerator that stopped working the end of April (and still doesn't work 6/21/16). LAR came out and ordered the wrong parts then lied on the paper work saying they replaced one of the parts even though they left the new part on my counter and didn't bother replacing it because he didn't think it was the issue the second time he came out. The same guy came out atleast two more times and just kept diagnosing more problems. They refused to come back out to replace the last set of parts they ordered. I have never written a review on YELP but LAR was so bad I had to. Problem with my GE Dishwasher less than a year old. GE sends out LAR. They come to my house, tell me I need new panel and it will be 4-5 weeks. Fine. 5 weeks pass and I start calling for an update. The guy answering said 1 of 2 parts was in, he didn't know when 2nd part would be in. Called again a week later, same answer and he said to call back the following week to talk to the owner. Called back and he said owner extended his vacation and he couldn't give me an ETA on the parts and to call back the next week. I finally spoke to the owner today and he said he had no record of my service order even though I gave the number to him and even though for the prior 3 weeks the people on the phone did have my information. I told him all this and that I was going to call GE. He said "Fine, go ahead" and hung up. Unbelievable. Not only unprofessional, just straight out a bad person. Apparently their records are paper only - on a follow up call I had to begin from scratch because the guy could not or would not look up the file.
