Wow, places like this still exist?…read more This is a down-home dive bar stocked with a cast of blue collar regulars...in the middle of a bougie gentrified historic neighborhood? I'm not sure how it's allowed (probably grandfathered in from when this place used to be a "rough part of town") but, I LOVE IT! The bartender was maybe the best conversationalist I've ever experienced at a bar. He was genuinely interested in what I had to say and was instantly engaging. His name was Michael. The beer prices were CHEAP and they had a surprisingly decent selection of taps, much of it local. Michael knew everyone in the bar, but was still really welcoming to an out-of-town Alaska ruffian such as myself.

Unfortunately, bartender Gage (short guy with bluish hair) managed to ruin the experience over a completely unnecessary personal reaction. I ran into him off the clock at a skate park and made a casual comment about the $6.66 price of his 8 oz drink. He took it personally, became defensive, and apparently decided that was enough reason to ban me from the shop. It's disappointing when a bartender's personal ego outweighs customer loyalty. Half Baked has lost my business and my recommendation. I'll gladly spend my money somewhere that actually values its regular customers.

Wasn't sure what to expect but at the same time I thought I might see people who started way earlier than I got there. That was for sure. Blaring 90s boy bands music, combined with other music and those people singing their hearts away. It was awesome! Others who were there weren't annoyed by it at all and that said everything to me. We all just smiled and laughed. Old school decor hasn't changed in forever. Certainly didn't bother me as love that old school dive feel. All cash, so don't bring your credit cards. A little pricy on my vodka and Sprite but oh well. Usually get lemonade but they didn't have any. Nothing out of hand though and the beer prices were dang good. A must experience.
