In short - Mike's Garage did an acceptable job with my vehicle in a reasonable amount of time at an OK price, but failed to present themselves in an organized, professional fashion. In long: I took my '02 Nissan XTERRA to Mike's garage under the assumption that my tie rods were worn/broken, and that Pep Boys had over-charged me for the required service. I was quickly informed by Mike that it was not my tie rods, but that my front sway bar ends were broken. His shop replaced the broken parts, performed and alignment, and charged a reasonable price. After dropping my truck off, he quickly took it into a bay, lifted it, and told me he would call me within the hour. I received no phone call. I called around 2 hours after drop off and was told that the shop was backed up, official invoices could not be drafted, and that they would get back to me within 5 minutes for an official estimate. I called back 20 minutes later and was given a verbal estimate over the phone. I (somewhat foolhardily) gave the approval for work, wrote down everything from our conversation, and waited for repairs to be completed. Upon retrieval of my XTERRA, the approved repairs had been completed and with apparent quality. Mike was very cordial the entire time, although unorganized. I appreciate the work he and his team performed on my truck, and hope that his business continues to improve on the experience that I received today. In the future, I would recommend following up regularly with customers, having an official invoice system in place so that people can agree to paid work ON PAPER, and perhaps hiring a dedicated phone or front desk worker to assist in your organization. Running a poorly organized business damages your image, regardless of the quality of work. read more

They will rob you for every penny you have if you let them. I've had the same car for 7 years and I've never had someone try to charge me 1300 for only changing break pads & rotors (nothing else). I almost spat in mike's face after he told me the amount he wanted lol . Fuck these niggas.... worst mechanic shop in tally by way far. Unprofessional af. I could change my brakes my damn self, brakes and rotors cost maybe 200 max. Maybe 300 if you the nicer ones... but to charge me 1000 for labor is insane. That place needs to burned down to the ground read more

Mike's Garage - Tires Near Me - Tallahassee, Florida

Here is my honest experience with this place. I brought in a 98 sl500 for basic maintenance after purchasing and driving for a couple weeks. Got new set of tires, oil and battery change. Couple days later the battery was completely flat - the key fob didn't even unlock the car. Towed it back and Mike falsely diagnosed it as a faulty ignition switch as well as something else, but it was an even bigger job requiring him to take the steering column out. He said all of this was draining the battery.... Quoted me 1.5K He lied and lied to my face, even with me calling the shop every other day, and visiting the shop personally every week. He kept my car in there for two months, without putting a single work into it. At the end, he wasn't even able to charge me for anything. The worst and sentimental part of it is this car was supposed to be for my wedding, and it missed it because of Mike's BS. After pulling the car out his lot, I changed the battery because a Triple A mechanic told me it's more likely to be a faulty battery than a parasite drain, and he was right. The issue never came back. He took my two months and had the intention of charging me 1.5K for the very faulty battery that he sold me. Complete scumbag and a fraud. Now let me put you all on. Especially if you have a German and you still need a mechanic, look no further than Autoworks international on Monroe. At this point, I have met everyone over there and everyone is more professional, friendly, and helpful than the other. I took the car here due to my key that would occasionally get stuck in the ignition switch, as well as some cosmetic work. The same job Mike quoted me 1.5K on and took my two months, Chad at Autoworks did within two days and get this - didn't even charge me for it. All it needed was the ignition switch to get cleaned out, and of course helped me out with all the other cosmetic work. Oh and also Mike put 5W20 in my V8.... I am finding this out recently upon reviewing his receipts. ALSO, after picking up my car from him at the end of 2 months, my ABS and SRS light came on. After I noticed it I immediately returned while I was up the road, and he tried telling me I drove with my parking brake on.... This guy needs a lawsuit real bad but I am so sick of his BS, I literally don't even want to bother. He has cost me damages in the way that I had to purchase another battery and now the ABS and the SRS lights have got to be figured it out, and of course not to mention 2 months of my time, and this car missing my one and only wedding. Please don't go here. Maybe if your corolla needs an oil change or tires rotated or something, but avoid if you can. They are not organized, or professional. read more

Do not go here they will rip you off. I went in for one stud and they changed all 5 and didn't tell me till I got there. Originally was $120 went up to $350 and no call. I showed up and they tried to make me pay that much when I didn't approve the work. Do not go here is all I can say. read more

Absolutely worst car experience ever and was completely lied to for 4 months straight. Mike had my car for FOUR months and continued to tell me it'd be ready "tomorrow" every single day, instead of just telling me the truth that he wouldn't be able to fix it. After the FOUR months I ended up towing my car to another shop. read more

I came across Mike's Garage via a simple Google search on a Saturday morning. They are getting all 5 of these stars for the following: - Being open on a Saturday when most other shops were closed; - Being personable and straight forward on the phone; - Possessing expert level knowledge of the parts they work with; - Being honest about the fact that I didn't need more wheel bearings than I came there for, when he could have easily lied to get more money out of me. - Replacing BOTH rear wheel bearings for the same cost others shops quoted for just ONE replacement using MY OWN previously-purchased parts (wheel bearings came as a pair from Carparts.com). - Getting me a new CV Axle and not adding a single dollar for labor. - Getting my car repair done so quickly that I was only without it for one business day. Ultimately, I had previously had several other quotes ranging from $500-700+ from Tallahassee auto repair shops (Firestone, Pedro's, PAC),and those quotes were to replace just ONE rear wheel bearing on my 2007 Nissan 350z. This guy (Mike) not only agreed to use my own parts, but he also knew that the wheel bearing assembly came as a HUB - with the spindle being part of it (here's lookin' at you Professional Automotive Center quote man); he also knew that it it would NOT require the pressing of the bearings (here's lookin' at you Pedro's Auto shop quote man). I had heard so many other shops tell me, "Well, what if this is broken...?" and, "We really won't know what the car needs until we get in there to see what's going on..." - Mike's Garage didn't play those games with me. I told him what I suspected and he told me what it would cost me. And when he told me that I needed a new passenger CV axle because the idiot that worked on the car earlier had destroyed it in the process, I 100% knew he was right. Because that guy had warned me that he might have done more damage than was there before. That's what I get for trying to be cheap and hiring a random off the street. Lesson learned. Go to Mike's Garage. Good people and they actually know what the heck they are doing. read more

I never leave reviews but I'm copying my google review here because this place is the WORST and I'll hate for someone else to go though the same thing I went through!!! Mike acts nice but thats pretty much all he has going for him. I dropped off my car to her my brake lights fixed and a general checkup. After I paid for the extra repairs he supposedly made on my engine, I went to pickup and realized the brake lights were not fixed. Dropped off again and Mike told me it would be done in two days. I waited for 3 WEEKS, every day calling and asking for updates. He even told me 2 out of the 3 brake lights were working, he just had to finish the last wire and it would be done. After waiting for weeks, he told me it was ready for pickup and when I received the car, none of the rear lights were working and my car had the check engine light. I dropped it off again to give him one last chance and told me that it would be done in a day or two. Another week went by and after calling him for 5 days straight, he told me that he's to busy and it would take him over a week more. He is a SCAMMER and LIAR!!! No work was done on my brake lights and they had my car for a month in the shop. DO NOT REPAIR YOUR CAR HERE, IT'S A SCAM!! read more

This review is based off many trials with Mike's. I first dealt with then over 2 years ago when selling an ex's car. He did a great job looking it over and making repairs that helped get top dollar on the sale of the 01 Saturn. So I decided to bring over my 03 Corolla after TiresPlus gave me an estimate of close to $300 for work. Mike had my vehicle completed in about 3 hours and it was running smoothing. I think it was something with struts and balance (my memory sucks). If it ended there I could easily give them 4 stars. But it's July in Tallahassee and my A/C stops working. I try putting in refrigerant and that doesn't work so I take it to Mike's. Short/long description, I brought it in 4 times for Mike to keep putting in a stop leak refrigerant that cost $8 at AutoZone and charges me $150 each time ($600). Every time he says that he does something else...but there's always a new bottle of StopLeak left in my trunk)? Finally a friends boyfriend said he would take it too his family's shop and figured out there was a leak in the condenser (an area Mike specially said he checked and said there was no leaks throughout the system - after leaving my car with him for 5 hours). I'm done with Mike's but if someone has already told you the problem check with Mike's for a lower estimate. read more

Took my car to Mike's earlier this year, 2024 to you have a tuneup, spark plugs, wires and oil change. I dropped off my car and it took about a week and a half and came to a total of $1100 plus initially all was fine but a week later I noticed once I was driving and would come to a complete stop. My car would jerk almost like it was popping popcorn so I took it back to Mike's to see if they could quickly resolve the issue. They literally kept my car for another week telling me every time I called that it should be done the next day and that they were ordering parts and working on it now so after being furious and without a car for another week I came to the shop to just pick up my car, I realize it was in the same spot. I dropped it off and never had been touched at all?!! The cars doing exactly what it was doing when I dropped it off big waste of time and waste of money I would avoid them at all cost. read more

I am a young woman living in Tallahassee and I have been taking my car to Mike's for 5 years now. My father works automotive and I ask him for preliminary diagnostics and pricing before I take my car anywhere when I'm having problems because not everyone is honest. Never once has Mike tried to sell me something I don't need or charge me more than something is worth. He services my car quickly and affordably. My car is a '94 and he's one of the few games in town for older vehicles, but he keeps up with the newest car technologies so he really can service nearly everything. I recommend him to every Uber driver who takes me to pick up my car from his shop, and I'm recommending him to you too. read more

Had a flat tire the first day of school, called dozens of places but all were full. I will be the first to admit I had my doubts coming here due to me being a college student who wasn't familiar with the Tallahassee area. But when I entrusted Mike with my car, he went above and beyond to make sure my car got every problem it had, fixed. As long as you're patient and cooperative, Mike can never do you wrong. I will definitely be a reoccurring customer for as long as I'm here in Tallahassee. read more

I can't say enough good things about Mike and his business. Our daughter goes to school in Tallahassee and has had difficulty with her car. Mike is somebody I trust and value. It truly was a blessing that we found him, we could've been in very deep trouble and very much taken advantage of if we hadn't found Mike! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Mike was the worst mechanic I had the displeasure of meeting, such a dishonest person. He will literally lie to your face and give you wrong diagnostics for your car. Worst mechanic experience I had. Dropped my car off as agreed with him so he could scan my car and figure it out what needed to be done. My car was there for basically one whole month and when I went there to check for the second time, the car was still parked in the parking lot even though he would tell me on the phone he was working on the car and waiting for parts. Do not take your car there. All his good reviews look fabricated. read more

I had such an amazing experience with Mike's today. My son is away at school and he had a problem with his car. I called a few places and NO ONE wanted to help this panicking mother. Mikes garage is a total scam and rip off I payed this man over 2 thousand dollars to fix my car and he did absolutely nothing to my car in over 6 months when I ask for a refund he tells me he can't give me my money back and that he already paid for parts but can't show me any receipts or parts he bought now I have to file a claim with my insurance company because this guy doesn't want to I honestly was a great customer to this man and this is how I get treated. read more

This place is trash. I dropped off my car the last week in December, 2018 and I just went there to pick up my car today (February 28,2019) .. and guess what my car still wasn't fixed almost 2 months and a few weeks later. Every time I called it was "oh it's ready , but I want to keep it another day to make sure it's working to perfection" all lies. The worst part about it , was yesterday when he saw me pulled up he pretended to be on the phone as though he was ordering another part for my car, but this clown didn't even have the cordless phone on, the home screen still had the date and time. But I didn't say anything till today when I told him please don't insult my intelligence and called him out on it. Again, this place is #TRASH and the service sucks ... PLEASE DONT GO TO MIKES GARAGE ! Pay the extra money and go somewhere that you would not get lied to or ripped off. read more

Mike is awesome! He always helps me out for a fair price. This review is concerning my husband's car, a Chevy Tahoe. When his car left him on the road, he had it towed to Mike's Garage. About a week later, the car was fixed and returned to him. Less than two days after that, his car would not start. Mike's Garage "guarantees" their work, so they picked it up and brought it back to the shop. During the course of 5 weeks, my husband and I called Mike on a daily basis, and everyday he would say "I'll have it ready by 5 tonight", "Come pick it up in the morning", etc. We did this back and forth SEVERAL times. By my estimate, my husband and I went to the shop 15 times, thinking the car was ready when he said it would be, only to hear his excuses again and again. FInally, after those 5 weeks, Mike admitted that he could not fix the problem, and told us to take it to the dealership. Because Mike's Garage has that "guarantee", my husband requested that Mike tow the car to the dealership, and asked for his money back (over $300). Mike was obliging at first, but we played the exact same game that we did with the car. "I'll have your money by 5 tonight", "Come back in 20 minutes", etc. Again, he and I both went back and forth to Mike's over 10 times during the course of a week and a half. After seeing our persistence, Mike said he would do a Visa Merchant refund, and put the money directly back on my husband's card. Again, we waited. We have made several calls to Visa and to Mike and it has been over a month since. If you value your car, your money and your time, DO NOT GO TO MIKE'S GARAGE. read more

I have taken my car to Mike for a couple years, he runs his auto repair business along side of his gas station, super happy and seemingly nice man and can always seem to fit you in at any time. Maybe he takes on more than he can handle and does not check over what his employees say they did. But me, my sister and roommates have taken our cars after several "fixes" to other trusted mechanics who have showed us parts that are either original or extremely old and we're not replaced by Mike as paid for. I think he is more of a quick stop, tire, oil guy and not someone who will thoroughly diagnose your car properly, or as I said, his employees. Mike did offer and give us a refund for the cost of one of the parts. read more

This is based off my experience. I had a problem with my car back in October. He charged me 850+ for parts to fix the problem. A few months later 2 months to be exact the SAME problem I paid him for still persisted. I had to keep coming back to him so he could fix the same problem. I would have to drop my car off for a days at a time just to come back and him tell me it wasn't ready. When I did eventually get my car it stopped in the middle of the street. Come to find out he charged me for new parts but put old parts in my car. Now sitting in March I've Been without my car for two weeks and he claims he's trying to fix the issue. Mike is a con artist. He's a horrible mechanic. DO NOT GO TO HIM read more

This guy is an ABSOLUTE SCAMMER. NEVER trust him or take his word for ANYTHING. RECORD ANY AND ALL CONVERSATION and get everything in writing because if you don't do so then he will have an easy time taking your hard earned money . My experience was my car had exhaust leaking, i take it to him and now he tells me I have a blown head gasket. Great. Three mechanic buddies of mine look at it and say nothing of the sort. I asked if he towed (i have AAA so I was not concerned if he said no) and he said sure don't worry about it. I asked if he charges and he said not at all. So when I come to pick it up he's asking for $60 to get it LOL WHAT A JOKE. I would've easily gotten it picked up or driven it myself. This guy is clueless and a down right scammer.
