Everyone at Newman's Auto is wonderful to work with - Rodney Sr. heads up a GREAT TEAM!! I've been going to them for 15 years to handle auto repairs on my Ford Explorer, they keep it running well. They do get very busy at times, but they always fit me in. They're very knowledgeable, professional, hard working and fair on pricing. I recommend them in a heartbeat to all my friends! My sons car wouldn't start and was stuck in a parking lot at FSU on a late Friday afternoon. I am the parent living in St. Pete and my son had to be in St Pete Monday morning. I called the shop and Rodney made sure he looked at my car the next day which was a Saturday. He got the car in knowing my sons predicament. The car needed a new starter which they replaced before they closed at noon one Saturday. A big thank you to these guys. They were awesome to work with. read more

Rodney is legit and doesn't nickle and dime his customers. Always coming back 5/5

My family has gone to two different mechanics in the decade we have lived here, Newman's and another mechanic that shall not be named. Recently my car was having issues so we took it to the other mechanic. There were quite a few issues and they estimated $4000 for the repair. Thank goodness we took it to Newmans for a second opinion. They were able to do the repair for $1700 and in a timely manner. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. The only downside is there is a slight smell of smoke in the building, but as someone who is pretty sensitive to smells, it wasn't terrible and was 100% worth the money saved. Overall, I highly recommend Newmans for all your car repair needs. read more

I have the skillset and ability to do my own work. These days I would rather not take the time as well as invest in a bunch of tools. Point being I'm happy to hire a shop and pay a professional to do the job. I expect the job to be done the way I would do it. Right down to the greasy fingerprints on the door! Attention to detail matters. Newman's Auto Air makes the mark. I was offered a ride home and discovered whilst talking to Mickey that this is a full service shop. I'm pleased to have found a place that will do the job as I would. read more

Very disappointed. After reading all the good reviews, I took my car in for an a/c repair quote that came in at almost $1500 and 9 hours of work replacing pretty much everything involved in the a/c. I took it to another shop down the road and had my car back in a few hours for $274 and the a/c works perfect. This place is more than just sus.... read more

Auto repair experiences are very "hit-or-miss", but I'm happy to say that my experience with Newman's was a hit. My A/C compressor locked up and needed a new one along with a new drier, and Newman's quoted me the cheapest price in town (about $300 less than 3 other competitors that I got quotes from). The first thing I noticed when I pulled into the parking lot was that they were busy. They get so much business that they have much more cars than garage space. However, that does not keep them from getting to them sooner. They have an arsenal of mechanics working on individual cars throughout the lot, everywhere. In fact, all of their repaired vehicles are parked in the back of the Home Depot parking lot down the road to conserve space. My price was as quoted and they had my car back to me the next day as promised. They also have a driving service that will pick you up or drop you off from to and from the shop if needed. If you have issues with the A/C in your vehicle, take it to these guys...they really know what they're doing. read more

Newman's Auto Air - Auto Repair Near Me - Tallahassee, Florida

Quick, reliable and honest. Took my car in for an air conditioner fix and they took care of the repair the same day and the ice cold air makes my ride awesome again. Will definitely recommend Newman's Auto Air. read more

You get the best service for your vehicle at very good prices, but most of all the people that work here take your troubles to heart and will do their very best to make sure you are taken care of in a timely manner and you are back on the road again safely. read more

Over the years I have brought my cars for different reasons.. Newman's has always been fair priced and helpful. On two occasions it was no charge.. once for AC line being clogged of some sort and the other time I came in thinking my wheel/suspension had an urgent safety issue.. they were super kind and did not charge for any unnecessary repairs read more

$315.00 to replace the radiator hose? My daughter is going to school in Tallahassee, her car breaks down and calls me. I am in another state so I ask her for her location and I find this joker a couple miles away. I call him to let him know the situation and the car will be towed to him. Assuring me he will take good care of her problem I felt relief. The next day when she picks the car up she text me the amount and I am thinking that's not bad for replace the radiator and I text her back to pay the man. She sends me the receipt and all they did was replace a hose and add coolant, wait what? Oh son, you are mistaken, never take advantage of a mans little girl! KARMA read more

I had them do some work on my a/c about a year and a half ago. There turned out to be some belt noise and leakage issues about a week or so after the work was done. While it was unfortunate that I had to take it back, they were always helpful, and willing to fix what didn't work, and never charged me anything extra. About a year later, the A/C needed a recharge. I brought it back to them, and they offered a free re-charge, which uncovered two leaky seals. They then offered to replace the seals and recharge right there while I watched. 45 mins and $55 later, I have cold a/c again. The prices seem fair, and they really seem to care about doing the job right. Hopefully I won't have to have more work done, but I wouldn't hesitate to go back to them. read more

After receiving an estimate for $1600 at another auto repair shop across the street, I took my van to Newmans for a serious repair needed on my van. Within three hours, I had an estimate for $700 less than the competitor's quote; and by late afternoon, my AC unit was back in great shape with a new compressor. The employees are friendly, home-spun, honest and prompt. I will definitely recommend them to friends and family! read more

If you have an older car don't bother. These guys read obd2 codes and replace what it tells them. They kept my car for 48 hours never called me and then told me in the end they couldn't even work in my car because it was a '93 and had a special distributor. read more

Excellent service on an EXTREMELY difficult electrical repair! A lot of repair shops would have given up, but Newman's kept trying different ideas and found the obscure problem. They were more than gracious on charging considering how much poking and probing it took to chase down the electrical problem. Thank you Newman's for your excellent attitude, your willingness to give complementary rides to and from your shop and never giving up! read more

Wow, I can't believe the experience I had with buying a used 2005 Nissan Frontier... First, It was priced about 2-3k less than the lowest private party price! I jumped on it as soon as I could knowing it was a good deal. I knew that a vehicle priced that low must come with some issues and it did. What I didn't expect was that Rodney was willing to fix them! I bought the truck as is, and Rodney went above and beyond to get the truck all ship shape. He was even willing to fix a issue that showed up after I bought the truck. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and if I had to sell tomorrow I've got equity! Highly recommend these people!!! read more

I towed my car to Newman's after a recommendation. They looked at the car and let us know within 24 hours what was wrong and said they were "100% sure" that what they were going to do would fix the car. The next day we came to get the car, paid $350, and drove away. Within 1 block the car died twice, worse than it was before. We took it back and they just said they'd look at it again. They clearly didn't even take it for a test drive before taking our money. Called the next day and said they have no idea what's wrong with it. Now we are short a car for the weekend too, and out over $350 and are going to have to pay (again) to tow it to another mechanic that knows what they're doing. Newman's has taken our money, our time, and screwed up our car that we now have no way to even get home. I still don't have my car and will update this review when I do, but the outlook isn't great. They make false promises (100% sure it will work), cut corners and skimp on service by not test driving your car before making you come all the way out there to pick it up and pay for it. Will never ever go there again and I will keep telling people about my experience until my car is fixed (or towed and fixed elsewhere at their expense) and returned to me with a full apology. read more

I really don't understand all of the positive reviews for Newmans. The good: they never overcharged me and often checked my car for free. However, they were disorganized and didn't seem like they even wanted to bother. Their diagnoses were half-assed. They misdiagnosed my car several times, and I had to have it fixed elsewhere. They rarely seem to get it right. The repairs I had done there did not hold up, and the mechanics broke things that were working fine when the car was taken in. Also, strange thing -- when I came to pick up my car on one occasion a little earlier than they were expecting, someone from the shop was out driving my car, long after it was supposedly fixed. They seemed caught off guard, and I'm pretty sure they were using my car to run errands or something. I wouldn't trust them with my car again. There are much better mechanics in town. read more

The staff at Newman's helped me out tremendously. I had a problem with my air conditioner not working after a previous shop worked on my heater. I took my car out to Newman's and the staff quickly identified the problem and fixed it all under an hour. Very respectful group of workers and they worked diligently to get their work done quickly. Highly recommend to anyone who needs A/C work in Tallahassee. read more

As much as one can enjoy a trip to the mechanic, u will love this place. Great service, fast, and very reasonable

These guys really helped us out when our car broke down on the way to Austin from Tampa. They were a great help and saved us.

Please don't take your car here! My car went in for one issue and came out with a whole different issue. Every time I got my car back there was something new wrong with it. They claim to specialize in AC, but I wouldn't trust them with any repairs, especially AC. My AC went in blowing cold and left blowing hot air. And after about 10 visits for the same issue (which they supposedly fixed) they told me they were tired of dealing with me and to go somewhere else. So now I'm stuck with an AC that isn't working properly and they won't back up their "repair". Just save your time and frustration and go somewhere else. read more

Let me first start be saying, the people at Newman's are very friendly. With that being said, it is the only reason they even received two stars. The A/C in my 2008 GMC Acadia wasn't working, as is the case for many Acadia's, and I took it to Newman's for service. Even after quoting us $1200 (GASP) to fix the issue, we agreed to have them repair it. After 2 1/2 days of work that was only supposed to be one, I had cold A/C again!! That joy was short lived. The air worked well for a few days before once again not cooling. We called Newman's, and they had us bring our "ARcadia" (They have said the name wrong and even spelled it wrong on several occasions!) in again. We did so, and as always, they were very nice. That afternoon, while coming back from lunch with co-workers, I saw my car leaving their parking lot. Curiosity got the best of us, and we followed my car. There was a women talking on her cell phone and driving my car!! My not-so-NASCAR savvy boss somehow lost her on Capital Circle. Newman's was immediately contacted, and we were told she was taking it to their overflow parking lot. Hmmm...we didn't even receive a call saying it was fixed and ready let alone ready to be picked up! Oh well, I was just happy to have my air working again, and as an added bonus, the lady driving my car left her license in my seat! I didn't even have time to worry about dropping her license back by the shop because the next morning, low and behold, my A/C was yet again NOT WORKING!!! After another trip to drop my car off, I once again went to work to anxiously await hearing about the fate of my car. I was a little surprised about how unapologetic they were. I didn't even get a thank you for returning the lady's driver's license! At any rate, they called my husband in the afternoon to let him know it was some sort of bad cap, and they had replaced it with a part from another car because they didn't have one in stock for an ARcadia. We were assured all was fixed this time; in fact, I think I even heard angels singing in the background! We were once again good to go. Until..................today! I must admit, I now feel like Bruce Banner. It has now been 2 weeks since my last incident. I had the pleasure of speaking to Mr. Newman this time. He was curt and non-apologetic. However, he will be seeing this face (wearing a smile is yet to be determined) bright and early in the morning for a fourth go around!!! I'll keep you posted. I hope all turns out well. If not, I won't be calling Newman's a fifth time. That final call will be to the Better Business Bureau! read more
