It is way more fun to write a fantastic review. Sometimes it feels like writing a 1-star review is to let out anger and frustration but in this case I hold none of these emotions. I just want to tell you about the experience. I set out with my fiancé looking to purchase a camera. I had a set budget of 6k did a little bit of research and decided to stop in here. The store was not busy there was two older gentlemen behind the counter. I was very excited to talk cameras and try to make a decision. I browsed the counter waiting to be helped. Couple minutes go by and I look up and the guy is just standing there almost with a look of disgust on his face. I told him I was looking at making a purchase and that seemed to annoy him even more. I even asked him if he had time to talk because he seemed so irritated with me just being there. I asked him to explain the difference of a few brands and told him what my goals were. It was THE driest conversation I have ever had, you would think you were on the phone with someone from the IRS. I turn to the lady and before I could say anything she said lets go! We sat in the truck for a few minutes and found a store named Englewood Camera! I would 1000% say go there. I went from a terrible shopping experience to the best. Come to find out Mikes Cameras employees are on commission were at Englewood they are not. You would have thought the experiences would have been flopped. Anyways I am so happy with my new camera from Englewood! Even kept it under 6k! Note: I was wondering if I was profiled because I don't wear fancy clothes just a shirt and sport shorts and have a lot of tattoos. So there is a chance that I am the problem and maybe a 6-thousand-dollar sale is a waste of time to the guys there. Went into this location with pretty rusty camera knowledge and a 15 year old camera. I was mainly looking for a tripod and another accessory. I met Carl and he helped me pick out the right tripod and also informed me about a feature i already had on my camera, that accomplished what I needed, instead of buying another accessory. After talking a little more about what I was doing and after showing him a picture of my subject matter, we discussed lens options just in case they had something that would improve my results. He educated me about an Olympus macro lens that wasn't even that expensive (as lenses go) and had a $150 rebate on it. I know how important the lens is to the end result so felt confident that it would really upgrade my photos so I went ahead and bought it. Got home, used the lens and WOW!! What a difference. Totally worth the investment to me. Thank you Carl, for taking the time to lend your knowledge to me to get better results!! I love coming into all the Denver metro locations for this store but the Wheat Ridge team in general was really helpful when I decided to upgrade to a mirrorless camera. From holding a very reasonably priced used R8 for me overnight, they had it ready to go for me to pick up and we even looked at RF lens options together. All in all I felt like they were there to help guide me, not sell me, into my new camera. I also take 35mm film here and get it back within a reasonable amount of time and will continue to do so. I had a great experience at Mike's Camera! I have been doing my own research and wanted to pick the brains of the experts, as well as feel/try out the specific cameras I'm looking at. I am relatively torn between two different Nikon cameras, and was able to get a lot of great advice and tips from the staff at Mike's Camera. I was able to look at and compare the two cameras, learned the pros and cons of both, and they actually convinced me to change my mind on which one I want to purchase! They did not pressure me at all to purchase on the spot, it was purely educational. I am relatively well versed in photography vocabulary which made it easier, and I was able to quickly get in, ask my questions, and leave without having to linger too long during covid. I rarely make reviews, but I have had such a positive experience with Carl and this location on multiple occasions (over many years) that I felt compelled to share. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about photography and gear (I have purchased about three body's, a few lenses and traded in a few directly with him) and he has always provided the highest level of service to me. Most recently after I was a bit confused how my early placed x100vi preorder wasn't fulfilled on launch day, without my request he reached out to the district manager to inquire deeper and followed up with me--which provided great clarity about what had happened (apparently x100v orders where place first in the queue). I highly recommend asking for Carl, and visiting this particular Mikes Camera for your photography needs. read more

Tried to sell me a camera with features it didn't have. The sales person nearly refused to show me 1 of the 2 cameras I'd researched. There are other more open minded, less aggressive shops in the area. It's funny because in the end I chose one of the cameras recommended at Mikes but I purchased elsewhere because the salesperson wouldn't show me the alternative and represented the camera had features that it simply didn't have. read more

I purchased from eBay a Nikon Z7 with outdated firmware that needed to be updated using an XQD memory card so that I could use the CFexpress card I bought for it. The camera pros at Mike's knew exactly what to do and graciously downloaded the update into my Z7. I was out of the store and shooting within minutes. The employees were very curt and snobbish. I very seldom dress up and I walked in, in my normal clothes. I was treated very poorly. The clerk treated me as if I was his subordinate. We had professional Easter photos taken and attempted to have them printed here, and encountered nothing but resistance. Originally, we forgot to include the print release with the order, so we recieved an email that the order couldn't be processed. Thats acceptable, and on us. We promptly provided the print release by email response. At that point, this location became entirely unresponsive. We have attempted to contact the store a dozen times through email and phone. We have not recieved an email back, and the phones seem to be disconnected as we can never reach a live human. Our order has not been processed nor cancelled, so we're in a state of limbo. We loved the Mike's camera we used to use and never had problems, but from this experience we will never use Mike's camera again. read more

Went in on a Tuesday to see if they had a Drone I was looking for. I was told they were on a truck for a weekend tent sale in Colorado Springs. Tom Called me that afternoon saying the Manager would have one brought up to Park Meadows store by Friday. I have been researching and shopping around for a new camera setup for a while now and decided to stop in at Mike's today to see what they had and what they could tell me. Carl was super helpful in answering all my questions and dealing with my back and forth. He wasn't pushy about the products I was asking for, but very knowledgeable. There were several times I asked questions and he pulled things out for me just for me to ask for a few minutes while I considered my options and shopped around a bit. He was real patient with me. In the end, I fell for one of their Sony sales, as I had been wanting a Sony for a while, and he 1-upped it with a neat bundle, assisting with our limited budget, and helpful friendly advice. Prices seemed to be right around what I had been shopping and seeing online and at other locations (some things were even a little cheaper), and the variety of products seemed to fit my needs perfectly, so I do plan on returning when I want to add to my equipment more. Staff here seem okay, marginally knowledgeable, but their prices were a rip! I paid $60 for a reflector that I could have paid about $20 for on Amazon or B&H. Also, I had the same issue with a filter I bought. While I prefer to shop local, this biz will not be getting my $$ again. read more

This place is great! My Dad took a lot of slides back in the day and I have been working on getting them all transferred to digital. The 1st batch I took to Mike's and was super happy with everything. Then the 2nd batch I saw a deal online for Legacy Box and it was cheap, so I thought great, I'll try it. Remember, you get what you pay for! Legacy Box was horrible! They did not digitize my slides and I had to fight to get my money back! Back to Mike's Camera I went, and once again, they were amazing! The pictures came out great and their customer service is just top notch!! Learn from my mistake, if you are going to trust someone with your priceless memories, trust Mike's Camera and no one else! read more

I'm so upset! Here's the short version: I ordered a 50mm, 1.8. Got a call that it was in the next day. Went to pick it up and they confessed that they ordered the wrong lens- a 35mm, instead of a 50mm, but said it was a better lens, so a "good mistake." Now the long version: Earlier this week, I went into this store to specifically to buy a $100 50mm prime lens that a friend recommended. However, when I got in there, while the clerks were very friendly, they told me the cheapest prime lens like that was actually $135 and a better one was $215...especially for my main purpose of taking portraits and family photos for my pursuit in photography jobs. I tried the different lenses and decided to go with the 50mm, 1.8 lens, though they didn't have it in stock. I needed it the next day for a trip I was taking to see & photograph my newborn niece. One of the store clerks wrote down the lens I wanted and said he would call and order it for me and it would be in their store the next day by 2pm. The next day at noon, I get a call that my lens is ready to be picked up. However, when I get to the checkout counter, the guy who placed the order said, "You know how sometimes a mistake can turn out to be a good thing?" He then proceeded to tell me that he accidentally ordered the wrong lens (a 35mm, 1.8) and was telling me why it was a much better lens anyway. I was stunned and upset, but don't like confrontation and was really hoping that he was right. He also made it sound like he was maybe giving me a deal on this "better lens." So...I bought a lens I didn't want. When I got home, I started looking online and seeing the difference between the 35mm and 50mm lenses and found that for what I am wanting to photograph, the 50mm is the best!!!! I'm just so upset and not sure what I should do! read more

We came in today just to "browse." Carl started talking with my husband and before you know it we left with quite a few items. The thing about it though was that Carl was not pushy, he was knowledgeable and showed excitement about the products within the store. He answered every question my husband had and researched when he didn't know the answer. He demonstrated products so we knew what we were buying and made sure the product was a fit for us. Mike's Camera is the best camera store you're gonna find in Colorado. Their camera selection is vast and their staff knows what they're talking about. My favorite service offered is their print center, where you can upload photos over wifi from your phone and computer, select the size, and print them. I also believe that the photo center is unbeatable. They know what they're doing with film and they don't charge you for photos that didn't expose- plus they return your negatives in case you want to get them developed again. read more

I was extremely disappointed with the customer service at this location. I have purchased the majority of my gear for my Nikon at this location in the past. When I was in this location most recently I brought a lense filter that I had purchased with a warranty. The staff was incredibly rude and would not replace the filter (under warranty for damage) and stated that it was not damaged enough for replacement. I will no longer be utilizing this location, despite my desire to support local brick and mortar camera shops. read more

I used the self service station and used their scanner to scan 11 photos. I got multiple prints of each picture and my total for the ordered prints was about 7 dollars. Then when I had confirmed the order it took me to the total amount and there was almost an $11 service charge! I calmly waited till one of the associates was finished helping another couple and asked her what it was for. She said it was for the time used up by me scanning my pictures. I scanned 11 pictures and I did so quickly (much quicker than all the other older couples around me that were fumbling with the technology of uploading their digital pictures). Didn't take me more than 10 minutes. If I hadn't been tired from Christmas shopping all morning I would have gone elsewhere. I will never shop here again. read more
