5th time this business owner has edited her comment on the "upset lack of service below" and likes to throw fault at a client for her failures. I stopped responding until now as she is basically hounding me. Keep in mind that this is a grown woman, yelling at me after she bait-and-switched the price tags and I did not agree to it. Note she is attempting to state I am not allowed to give good or poor reviews without it somehow coloring her own business. How does that even relate? People have a right to their opinion and I do post... many times, as I should. Glad for you to see them. Shortly before I moved to Portugal, I needed all of my photos transferred to digital. I could not take three bankers boxes of photos with me. I needed a lot of assistance/hand holding to make a memorial video for my friend of 40 years who passed away. I had the concept in mind, the order of the photos, the songs to use as background and when to synch the music with the story of his life. I did not have the technical expertise to pull it off. Some years ago I brought a collection of family memories on 16mm film to this shop, and they did a wonderful job of transferring the movies to VCR format. Then, just the other day, I brought in a DVD of family memories that they copied onto two other DVDs. The job was completed in just a few days, the price was reasonable, and Gwen, the shop owner, was fun and easy to work with. All in all a good experience. Gwen gave helpful responses to my email inquiries and Mitch was professional and friendly. I did not have a huge project for them, but the materials I gave them to scan meant a lot to me and they took good care of them. The turn around time was a full seven days, which I found a little surprising, given it was a fairly small job (35 pages) and they didn't seem overwhelmingly busy, but at least they let me know up front what to expect. I had serious doubts that MTD could do anything more than a passable job with a 7" reel of audio tape that almost certainly hadn't been played since 1957. As an erstwhile musician from back when reel-to-reel was all there was, I know what print-through (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Print-through) can leave you with. But when the "rip" was ready (on thumb drive) eight days later, I was amazed to hear no echoes (from neighboring wraps of the tape) in my parents' wedding! The rest of the sound was IMHO about as good I could possibly have hoped given the microphones and recording equipment of that day - especially since I didn't care so much about the fidelity of the inexpensive church organ playing as I did about the human speech captured by the recording. (Perhaps in a few years there will be software algorithms fantastic enough to remove all those rude coughs!) To hear my folks' wedding was touching beyond words - like a scifi show about parallel universes mind-blowing and emotional. Thanks, MTD! (One rather minor technical point: in order to hear the correct pitches of the voices of my young parents, my mother's parents, and my mother's two kid siblings, I had to play the WAV file at ~0.88 speed. I guess it's possible that 60hz then was "off" compared to 60hz now? Or their reel-to-reel recorder was mis-calibrated? Was there even a calibration knob/screw on these devices? Anyway, I fixed it up pronto - no harm, no foul - though I'm not sure that just anyone without my technical background would know re-pitch vs re-speed, etc., and repaired it. I used 'sox' and 'ffmpeg' on a Linux system to do so.) read more

My latest project was done quickly in preparation for a celebration of life and I was happy about that! I did have one issue in the past but they worked hard to fix it and successfully did so. We had a very good experience at this business, with a very big project. I had to get about 9000 pictures copied onto discs for a business. Then I decided to get all of our discs of home videos copied as well. It was a seamless process and very thorough and reasonably priced. This was a very big and complicated job and I am so grateful that Memories to Digital could get it done so professionally. They were also in touch with me at all times regarding price and timeline. Do not use this service, ever! I brought in tapes to convert to DVDs. They lost one and denied it forever until they found it. I had to push for months and their customer service was horrific. Important tapes and memories should not be entrusted to this company, they are negligent. I paid hundreds of dollars and even though they admitted to losing a tape after denying it forever, they would not return any of the hundreds I paid. read more
