Dave has probably the most inclusive knowledge of both digital and film cameras and can fix about anything--a friend getting out of the business ray who used to work at the old ossen photo in denver referred me to dave and he has an extensive knowledge of anything photographic and knows the business as well as anybody--if you have a difficult item to repair dave can tell you exactly the time and cost to fix it-- You know a repairman is good when he runs 3 mos behind in the hardest to repair items--I have never known Key camera to have ever caught up with his repairs--given the time dave can answer any question photographic but I would caution you not to ask too many questions if he is behind on his bench work--just the best there is and knows anybody and everybody in the used business and can find bout anything for you--a good man read more

I'll revisit this review if I ever get my camera back. Dropped off a Cannot 28 for light seals and rangefinder adjustment over six weeks ago. I was told the turnaround was two to three weeks. Popped in to check after five weeks. They hadn't touched the camera. They promised "next week" ..."We'll call." Nope. Haven't heard from them. One star off for having weird hours. (Closed on Wednesdays and Sundays, I think). But really helpful, honest camera shop. They're certified to do repairs for Canon and Nikon, and have a pretty fast turn around on service. Reasonably priced for non-warranty service, too. Glad to have this place around! read more

If your a professional photographer and need lens or camera repairs for anything from a classic 36mm to large format equipment there are few that can even match the quality of Key Camera Service. I have over 20 cameras and Key Camera has kept them all in superb condition. Cameras are sent to key Camera from all over the USA. I still use old German film cameras, Hasselblads, 4x5 LF and high end digital. Key Camera has serviced and repaired and rebuilt everything when its needed. Sometimes, seriously damaged cameras have taken several months to repair as finding parts for cameras made in the 1960s can be difficult and damaged cloth shutters can takes a long time (even months) to treat and reshape, but they have always come through for me. But usually, before I buy an old camera, I consult them regarding cost of restoration. Fortunately, I live only 10 miles from their shop, but I am glad their still in business as expert repairs service is getting scarce. read more

Dave is incredibly knowledgeable- this is old school camera repair at its finest. I wouldn't trust my camera to any other shop. He will give you an accurate assessment of what's wrong, and when they will have it ready. They can work on old and new digital cameras. Dave is a photography history treasure,I'd wager he knows more about cameras than most people alive today. The shop is old school- smokey, fluorescent lights buzzing, piles of paperwork and old cameras, just like stepping into 1970 camera repair. I wax poetic, but this place is great- a piece of authentic Colorado before a zillion WestCoasters relocated here and made it look like a sterile moneyland fancy strip mall with beautiful shiny people behind the counter. you won't find that here- and it's so refreshing. read more

I stopped by Key Camera shop on a recent Saturday. And, even though the Store hours sign on the storefront noted that the shop should be open, there was a CLOSED sign up. I wish the proprietor had noted that they were sick or something and might have noted when the next day open would be. read more

Brought in 3 very old cameras for advice on if they worked and how much it cost to repair them if necessary. The owner spent 20-25 minutes inspecting and advised us on what was needed, he said the old cameras work fine and repairing them would not increase the value when I sell them on ebay, I asked what he charged for the inspection. He said 5 to 10 dollars, I was stunned and I expected him to say a much higher amount!! I gave him more than 5-10 dollars. It is very nice to deal with someone who is honest and trustworthy and takes the time to deal with his customers on a very professional level!!! read more

Fast and expert service on a minor problem with an older medium-format camera. (One focus hood flap wouldn't spring open.) The proprietor fixed it while I waited and charged a reasonable amount. I thought I'd have to leave it there and pay twice as much. A couple of things to note: This shop takes cash and check, but not credit cards. And the owner says business has picked up since a few Denver shops have closed, so the work might take a bit longer than expected. Lastly, it's worth a visit just to drool over the display of old film and movie cameras. read more

My camera lens was stuck and I took it to the store I bought it from to see If they could get it off. Their tech said it would be $250 to fix it. My husband called around and found Key. Their technician took it back to his shop and came back in short order with my lens off! He also said that my other lens was probably broken. No charge! I looked at my other lens and sure enough it was broken. Thankful for such willingness to help a patron. Give them a try! read more

I'd been driving by the humble store front for many years. A few weeks ago I brought in an old, jammed Nikon F2 with a shattered battery compartment and the owner immediately identified the issue, said he could fix it and wrote up the estimate, saying it would probably take 3 weeks or so. It was ready in less than 2, and it worked perfectly - like new. What a treasure to anyone looking to have an old camera repaired to have a shop like this close by. Extremely pleased and will bring more cameras to them for servicing. They're closed on Wednesday because that's when he makes his rounds to all the other shops, picking up and dropping off repairs. Dave is the best camera repair guy around. He can fix everything from mechanical to electronic problems, and will wax poetic about camera history if you get him going - that's probably why he's always behind on his work, but I don't mind. Dave Feeley is one of the last great camera technicians out there - the old school guys that can troubleshoot a camera and understand the mechanics and electronics well enough to find a bad electronic part on a circuit board and fix it. He tells me he was trained to even make new mechanical parts on mill and lathe. Most shops these days just replace parts until they find the problem, but Dave does it the right way. He's repaired a lot of my Rolleiflex items for me and been very fair on prices too. I live in California so I have never visited in person but he's very friendly on the phone.
