Cider and Mike. So fun what more do you need?
Sean M.

Service 5/5 Ambiance 4.5/5 Cider's and Beer 5/5 I love Hess!!! This week they're featuring a limited holiday pecan cider. It is so tasty. I've visited 2x this week to have a glass with friends. I'm not a beer person but the cider are consistently Amazing. Don't pass go, go visit and try for yourself. We normally sit on the outside patio where there are heaters so you feel cozy. One note it is totally ok to bring food and your fur baby.

Came for a quick brew and it didn't disappoint. Lots of seating and delicious tasting beer. I got the black berry cider one

Vietnamese coffee stout

Went here to watch the game last night and even though the game was bad the brewery was wonderful. Ordered the Vietnamese coffee stout and it had strong coffee notes but was not as bitter and went down smooth. Saw people come in with outside food. Workers were nice and friendly. Plenty of seating inside and out. They have 3 TVs 2 inside and 1 outside. Pet friendly.

Nice outside. Nice beers. Easy to bring baby. Only downside was horrible parking. Overall good tho.

Conveniently located at The Orchards, I stopped by here on a weekday around 1pm. Nice cold beers, perfect weather. I don't recall who helped us, but she was friendly and allowed me to get a few tasters to see what I liked. Giving it a 4/5 only bc no food here, but there are plenty of places to eat nearby and you can bring it in. Outdoor space was also great to bring our doggie here and she loved it.

Good vibes and great beer! We came to Mike Hess on a weekend afternoon, hoping to enjoy the nice weather and a cold beer. The patio had plenty of seating and was dog friendly, yay! No food in house, but plenty of nearby restaurants to grab food from and bring over. Can't wait to come back!

Wanted to wait until another visit here on a busier night would be before writing a review. I'm a Huge fan of this spot! Their outdoor patio is super cozy and plenty of room and shade for our fur kids. I'm pretty impressed with their tap rotation (both times I've gone I got a flight to try different beers). I think it's so cool they gift you with a souvenir cup when you turn your poker chip back in My favorites so far are the Mexican lager and the pineapple cider. So yummy and refreshing! Love that this tasting room is next to a handful of restaurants too so you can grab food to go and bring it here while enjoying your beer. I plan on coming here regularly! I've been meaning to have my next visit be during the week where i can bring my souvenir back for a discounted pour.

"Consistently Good Experience. Kudos to Woody and Andrew." I often come here after a run on Saturday. First, I get food from Jack's Urban eats, which they deliver right to the tap room. Then I settle down for a nice light beer. Hess has a good selection of beers and I usually get the Kolsch. But the thing that really makes this tap room are the bartenders, Woody and Andrew. Consistently friendly and helpful. They recently expanded the outdoor seating area. It's large now, with tons of picnic tables, high tables, stools, and a big screen TV. Well done! Nice people, good beer. What more can you ask?

Sangria seltzer was delicious

I always drive by Mike Hess Brewing company and my husband and I finally decided to go in. It was a Friday afternoon so it was busy but the patio and indoor area is spacious so we were able to find good seats outside. You walk up to the counter to order your drinks. I ordered the sangria seltzer and of course my husband had a beer (can't remember which one but he really enjoyed it). I was pleasantly surprised by the sangria seltzer. I really enjoyed it. They do not serve food but a few of the nearby restaurants will deliver food if you call your order in and pay with a credit card over the phone. I decided to order food online at the Mexican restaurant next door and quickly picked it up and brought it back. It was a perfect pair with our drinks. I really love that they are dog friendly and there quite a few babies and toddlers as well. It is a fun atmosphere on a warm day. I am looking forward to coming back in the near future. I plan on picking up food beforehand next time.

Amazing beer, good flavor, and just tastes clean. The folks that work here are very friendly. Fair pricing and good vibes.

What's not to love about Mike Hess Brewing? A few of the things I appreciate most: Hospitality - Staff members are friendly, laidback, and excited to talk about their offerings. The setting is comfortable and beautiful, complete with indoor and outdoor seating options. The tree-covered patio is tough to beat! Kids, dogs, and outside food are all welcome. I enjoy the weekly community events like Taco Tuesday, Trivia Wednesday, etc. Variety - My husband loves IPAs and I love sours and ciders. Thankfully, they have both and more! We even like to try their fun blends like Spacey Lacey and Manmosa. I have a consistently delightful experience here and I'm so grateful this brewery is in my neck of the woods.

Two words: Vietnamese coffee. Such a nice day to enjoy good company. Great indoor and outdoor area and the service is phenomenal. Had a flight with some hazy IPAs and they were all excellent. My dog of course had a better time than I did if that's even possible.

Umbrix Imperial stout. #YesWeCan

No food, but beer is chronic. Hanna is killin' it in the back on the server side, love a place where I say stout and they ask how imperial! Will be back, hopefully with a smart attractive woman. Go

lots of outdoor seating, packed even on a Thursday evening!

Excellent brewery that is family friendly and has both indoor and outdoor seating…read more The food was really good even with no fryer, there are plenty of options. The ambiance was what you would want in a brewery. Very chill, fun and friendly vibes. There are TVs in the indoor area and lots of space outside. There was a wide range of beers options and a good crowd mix of people. I was happy I was able to visit here and look forward to coming back again!

Pros - Friendly cashier, good assortment of beer and ciders, dog-friendly…read more Neutral - Loud music outside. Cons - No employee approached a male dog owner over his pit bull excessively howling / yelping over another dog. A couple yelps, fine. It kept going, it was loud, the silver-haired Boomer was taking his sweet time to ( not ) control his dog with respect to other people in the patio area. So, dogs are preferred over people, no one on staff to politely ask the man to control the dog immediately? One more thing: the barking was such a nuisance that I and another customer were looking back at the owner to see if he was taking care of it, the customer quipped about the dog going to be attacking him, if anything, I joked that I'd be fine, he then suddenly held up the numbered signage for his order ( w/ metal stand ) saying he was going to hit me with it. ( No light-hearted tone, moreso irritated and aggressive. ) And this is how suddenly bad things happen, how a customer spews out a verbal threat ( technically criminal assault ), linked to an out-of-control situation with a pet owner and his dog and a restaurant that won't do anything about it. Simple Solution: Train employees ( or remind them ) to assertively and cordially request owners to keep their dogs peaceful and quiet. Otherwise, it's sweeping a problem under the rug. Not smart nor respectful of other customers. Being Fair: If you like the energy of a loud restaurant, whether it's music and/or dogs barking, then you should be fine, drinks and all. If you love dogs, yet want them responsibly controlled in an environment where you seek to maintain an actual meaningful conversation, this establishment is a roll of the dice.

The ambiance was awesome too, especially the great conversation with the bartender. Just a very chill, homey vibe. I'd definitely frequent here more often if I lived closer. A few pieces of constructive feedback: * The Butter Chicken Tacos were a bit underseasoned and needed a little more acidity * A spirits menu would be a nice complement, or even flight options * More rum options Will definitely try to come back. Fantastic drink. My friend tasted mine and ordered the same. The selection is the draw here. Whiskey lines the entire back wall, the rarer bottles sit behind wire-mesh locked cabinets, and there is a deep bench of tequila, beer on tap, and wine to round things out. One look at the shelves tells you they have the base for any drink you want. We split the Margherita flatbread, pesto, fresh mozzarella, and blistered cherry tomatoes, and it hit the spot as a drinking snack. The menu goes deeper than expected for a bar, with sliders, naan tacos, and charcuterie if you show up hungry. Service was good considering the staff-to-crowd ratio. Sevan stayed attentive the whole time and clearly knows his stuff. The vibe is chill and conversation-friendly, not too loud for the size of the room, with a bank of TVs toward the back if you want to catch a game. Logistics are easy. The bar sits a short walk from Pleasant Hill BART and parking in the area was no trouble. I've been a few times before and this visit confirmed why I keep coming back. For a high quality cocktail in the East Bay, this is the spot.
