Even asked for melted butter to add a little warmth to the veggies but it came out so cold the fat had already solidified on top and tasted like straight oil. Went for a family dinner and first stopped at the Prairie View location and was met with rude & unpleasant staff who made racist remarks about not wanting to serve us. Without any apology we left and went to the Gonzalez location where staff ans our server, Micah was wonderful. The restaurant was nice, clean and spacious. The whole fried catfish, gumbo & green tomatoes were amazing but the star of the show was the Charred Oysters! Hands down the best oysters we've ever had, cooked to perfection & topped off with a parmesean, garlic finish. It keeps us going back time & time again. We informed our manager, Stacie of the incident at the other location & without hesitation she sprung into action to handle the matter. Ordered the Shrimp and Grits and I'm originally from New Orleans. And I've had Shrimp and Grits many of times and these were special. And by special I mean terrible. I should not say the entire dish. Best part of our visit was our server Landon. The food took 45 minutes to arrive and was cold. We ate brunch. The eggs were cold and over hard and were overcooked over light. Biscuits were cold. They did prepare another plate but that added 15 minutes to our time. read more

So, I have had good food from Mike Andersons in Gonzales. Except for the last two visits. Around 3PM, I had the Joliet Rouge. Mushroom medallions, green onions, sautéed onions and crab meat over baked drum. And sigh ... onions over bland something is the best description I can give you. The crabmeat had the most slight of tastes of crab. Blindfolded I would have had trouble identifying what I was eating. The baked drum fish was obviously frozen. I love onion and it was plentiful, but the taste was overwhelming, esp. with the subpar seafood. Not at all what I was expecting from Mike Anderson's, and given the Joliet Rouge is one of their most costly menu items, I would have expected the kitchen to pay a bit more attention to flavor. Ambiance is always great, with a well layed out dining area nicely decorated, with subtle lighting. That said, I'm off to other seafood restaurants. Louisiana has far too many great places to have to overpay for a mediocre meal. read more

We loved Mike Anderson's, going way back to the original location on Perkins Road near LSU and continuing when they opened in a larger location on Lee Drive. We are driven past the sign from Mike Anderson's, but assumed that because it was connected to a hotel it couldn't possibly be as good as the original. I won a drawing for dinner at Mike Anderson's, and I could not believe how good the Oysters Bienville were. They also have a really nice oyster bar where you can sit and watch them shuck oysters and grill them. The new Mike Andersons in Prairieville is in a beautiful venue. You are met with calming huge fish tank. The charbroiled oysters are as good as Drago's as they set the standard. We split a seafood platter very large with stuffed crab, fried shrimp, oysters,crayfish, stuffed shrimp, crab claws, served with cole slaw or salad and a side. Everything was cooked perfectly. Now for the down side and this can be taken care of with a bit of training of the staff. I came in with a cane. We were walked all the way through the restaurant which was nice but not needed When we left we cut the journey out by half. So the hostess needs to see and judge their costumers. The second was the oysters were brought to the table and as a second thought the plates were brought later. So the waiter needs to set the table before food arrives. The sound level is high. This seems to be what places are looking to achieve. All the hard surfaces bounce sounds all over the place. We ordered a lemon pie for dessert one slice for the table. It was still frozen in the middle and could not for the life of me figure what the topping was? Kinda was on the level of a pie bought out of the freezer section. We brought half of a slice home and we had four at the table. We had a really good server who with more training will be awesome. He was very personable. read more

For all the items to be fried, there wasn't a drop of grease left on the plate making the dish greasy. The salad was crisp, and drink refills came without me having to ask/wait. The food is delicious year the service is great, the hostesses and host's are welcoming. My favorite server is Stacy, but I also like Rosanna and a few more they're all good with those two are the best, especially Stacy . My favorite dessert there is the turtle pie. It has a chocolate cookie crust and ice cream and topped with a custard sauce very delicious and also their eggnog Brûlée is amazing and in Miss Liz is pecan pie. Oh my God everything is delicious. If you don't see those things on the menu, ask they have special menus one for each month and then the menu that you see every day my favorite food is the crab meat au gratin and also they also have a special sometimes that is my favorite, which is a fresh trout almandine topped with fresh lump crab meat. I love the Charbroiled a Oysters and the charbroiled crab claws. Oh my God those are good. This place is on my favorite places for dessert. read more

This place is amazing. I love love love their fried shrimp. No other place comes close. All of the food is always made with fresh ingredients. I have all so had their crawfish étouffée. It is extremely good and I am very particular about where I eat this. There are other Mike Anderson's in this area, but none of them come close to this one. There is another one that is closer to our home and we go out of our way to go to Gonzales. The service is also fantastic. read more

This was my first time going to Mike Anderson's. The atmosphere was ok. The server was really nice. I had some questions about the menu and he made sure that I was taken care of. I guess I was expecting more than what I received. The food was on the salty side, I had the fried fish topped with crawfish etouffee. I would have preferred my etouffee over rice to balance the salty taste from both that and the fish. The oysters were ok. The stuffed potato was a bit dried out. Overall, it's not a restaurant I would break the doors down to get to, but I also would like to try another menu item just to see if my experience would be different. Update: First, I do want to say, that the management team is great at accommodating guests and handling large parties. We did return, this time I tried something different. I went with something simple, because who can mess up anything simple. I had the Shrimp, Spinach, and Artichoke Fish and Dip Appetizer and Catfish Po Boy with fries for an Entree. The Fish and Dip was very runny once I spooned the cheese off and there was no shrimp in the dip. The Fish was salty, the fries were cold and salty but our hostess did bring everyone fresh fries, I declined because I wasn't a fan of the fries. I was disappointed yet again, I didn't enjoy the Po Boy. I just don't think it's for me. The only dish I liked so far is the oysters. They do have nice cocktails and wine selections. So I think I'll just stick to that. It's overpriced and over-hyped. read more

We used to go to the Mike Anderson's restaurant in Baton Rouge. That is on ehat is now called Lee Drive. It was quite a drive. I knew it had a location in a hotel in Gonzales, but I never stopped there until I moved to this area. I've now been there several times, and I think it is at least as good as the original. Decided to stop here after church and I must say you will never be disappointed when you come here. My server Lance was amazing, he was very tentative. Throughout our meal, he made sure that everything was top-notch. As far as the food, I had the Shrimps Norman and this meal is great. The crab meat is great.
