Great hidden gem! Ample parking, menu has a lot of options from breakfast specials, combination plates, seafood and a variety of soups. Very attentive staff and food was fast, fresh and delicious!!

I always been curious about this spot after taking my cars to auto shops in the area for years. Never really thought it was an active store because it's hidden, but after today's visit, I found it does get busy. Today I ordered a fajitas platter, a couple fish tacos, and a chili rellano. The fajitas were packed with chicken and you get the side of beans and rice (and fries). They also give you chips with the meal. The fish tacos were standard, but good, ok for $4. Really enjoyed the chili relleno, and might get it in a meal next time. Overall, food was good, and I was surprised how nice it was inside considering the location. My only issue was that they seem short staffed and take longer because of this.

Mikasa is a small Mexican restaurant just off of Valley Blvd in Walnut. For a first time visit, I ordered a Chili Relleno Burrito, Deluxe (Wet/w Red Sauce) and my friend had the Mikasa Omlette (Ham, Onions, Tomato, Bell Pepper, Cheese) with beans and rice. My burrito was medium, average sized. Just enough portion to satisfy your hunger but not large enough to where it really filled you. The filling and ingredients were fresh and melted, the red sauce gave it nice moist flavor. My friend really liked her Mikasa Omlette and it definitely looked good sized, along with all of the grilled fillings and melted cheese. The meals came with a small bag of chips and a plate of both hot and mild salsa. They do also sell separetely, large bags of tortilla chips, salsa and guacamole. For being a small restaurant, their have a lot of variety of menu items. If you are looking for a hidden place, that is quiet and does not get too crowded, this seems like a nice place to have breakfast or lunch. Constant to go pick up orders. Definitely, a local favorite spot.

Sometimes some of your best meals are found off the beaten track. Such as this place. You could easily drive by and miss it off you're not looking. Butt once inside you place your order, sorry down D wait for your Ford that comes out surpassingly quick and it's piping hot. Can I just tell you that the Al pastor is seasoned perfectly. Full of flavor and the carne asada tacos that I ordered we're just as delicious. The owner I think it's very hospitable and welcoming, treaty you like you're a guest inn the house and makes sure you have everything you need. Go have yourself some great Mexican food and support this local business

Carne asada taco plate

The carne asada tacos were delicious! Very generous portions of rice and beans. The interior is nicely decorated with LA sports teams memorabilia and Mexican art. My only complaint is that the lime and cucumber agua fresca was way too sweet. Overall this place was really good and reasonably priced.

Chimichanga was great.

Is their salsa bar back? Are the agua frescas self serve?

Yes

Do they put lard in their beans and/or tortillas? Do they put chicken stock/bullion in their rice? Basically, are they vegetarian-friendly?

Lard in the refried beans, not in the pot beans. Rice had chicken stock.

The restaurant's gates have been closed all week this week. No one answering the phone. Are they still in business?

Yes

Nice place, amazing coffee!…read more Nice family owned place. Don't let the storage building location deter you. Breakfast was fresh and tasty and served very rapidly. Service was courteous though not immediate. Coffee is from a local roaster and brewed fresh by the 16 ounce cup. No refills as it's by the order, but it's a good size and very good. Only drawback was grilled foods had a slight of oil taste and a few things left off my order, but not a major deal. I would give 4.5 so since I have to go by even stars I'll go 5.

This kinda service and nonsense seating policy on a hump day, is the type that drive customer like me away and choose franchise establishments such as panera or starbucks which located less than a mile away. None of the coffee refillable. No Creamers options/ milk options, sense was just unwelcoming and wouldn't want to come back. Maybe in another 8 years. I enjoy my breakfast taste though, but nothing extraordinary.

There were plenty of parking as it's in a shared plaza. For the store, it's a moderate size but it was definitely busy at the time we went. For ordering, you'll need to order at the counter before sitting down. After browsing the menu, we decided on the pink vodka pasta and the rich miso pasta (Taiwanese sausage added). American Express is accepted as a payment option. The staff gave us a number to place on the table we sat at but we were free to grab any seat we liked. For seating, there were a few tables for parties of two and limited tables for bigger groups. Keep in mind if you need water or extra napkins, they'll have those near the bar seating. Both the Pink Vodka Pasta and Rich Miso Pasta exceeded our expectations! The miso pasta leans on the creamy side but pairs very well with the pink vodka pasta. The miso pasta didn't come with any protein by default, so we were glad that we added the Taiwanese sausage. Fun fact is that the meatball from the Pink Vodka Pasta is vegan! The portion size was super generous from both dishes and was beyond just two people. I wasn't expecting to discover pasta dishes that I'd consider as one of my favorites from this visit! I'll definitely come back to try other dishes.

I am so glad we chose Hide Out Cafe in Rowland Heights to have our celebration. The food is delicious, the staff is so friendly, and the cafe is so cozy and welcoming. My brother was sponsoring our meal since he couldn't make it, so of course we had to go all out and order two drinks and two main dishes. (Thank you, big brother)! I got the Boba Bear Set $8.50, which comes with a drink and two house-made cookies, and my mom got their Tiramisu Latte $7.00, which is heavy on the coffee liquor, to be honest, but we had fun with it. The drinks are crafted beautifully, and with the open cafe concept, you can see they pay attention to the small details of their crafted drink menu. The house-made cookies that were a part of my Boba Bear Set are not to be forgotten. The cookies are buttery, decadent, and delicious; they are the perfect tea cookies to pair with! I can't wait to go back and try more of their fun drinks and maybe bring a study book the next time. For our main dishes, we shared the Chimi Wagyu & Frites $35.00, and the Fresh Avocado Toast $19.00. We both love eggs so of course we had to get something with eggs in our dish. My mom loved her avocado toast, and they were very generous with the avocado as well on there. The salad is a definite hit with us and included a great dressing on the side. The eggs were cooked perfectly on top of our toast and steak. The frites with my steak were crispy and seasoned well. I also loved the chimi sauce with my steak as well. The portion was huge so we were able to take some back home to enjoy another day. Overall, my mom and I had a great experience and would absolutely come back for another sip of their lattes and try another fun drink on their menu. We left with happy smiles and full stomachs, and can't wait to come back soon.

Bring card or contactless payment.) I arrived at Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) on Wednesday (around 10:21AM). Parking is very easy. The lot is big. However, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is very hidden. It has no visibility from the street! Staff is very professional and welcoming. Staff politely and cheerfully answered all my questions. Staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. For example, the location does not have a paper menu; all the menus are accessed via QR Code. Fortunately, Staff let me borrow their iPad which allowed me to see the menu on a larger screen. When I'd arrived, Staff asked if I was dine-in or to-go. I was immediately seated. When I'd inquired about the boba. Staff honestly told me that they needed 15 additional minutes to prepare the boba. I brightly waited. All in all, after the 15 minute wait, the drink took an additional 10 minutes before being ready. As mentioned, I ordered the Boba Bear Set ($8.50). CUTE!!! It's a very aesthetic and memorable presentation. The boba pearls came perfect; they're bouncy, perky, and playful. The brown sugar milk tea mixed with the caramel foam tasted honey-like. It's very TASTY! My biggest nitpick is that the amount felt tiny. Still, it's a wonderful memory that I'm so happy to experience! On ambiance, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is comfortable and clean. There's about 13 interior tables, and there's six patio tables. The music is slow-tempo, and the tall ceiling made it feel spacious. In addition, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) has utility. There's customer internet with password; details are available on the QR code menu. There's also about four electrical outlets. I also appreciated the self-service water station. There's also a gender neutral restroom in the back. Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) felt very hidden yet well-maintained. It's a lovely spot. Overall, I had a magical, memorable experience. I discovered AMAZING milk tea and many precious memories. If searching for someplace special, I happily recommend. 4.9 out of 5

I ordered the avocado toast with a side of bacon, and my husband ordered the chorizo skillet. The coffees and my food came out quickly, but his never did. Instead, we watched an older server walk around the restaurant with his skillet and bacon, stopping at multiple tables asking if it belonged to them. Twice she set it down at other tables before being told it wasn't theirs. The third time, she finally brought it to us. That seems like it should be a health issue, what if someone else had stuck their fingers in it not knowing. By then, my husband didn't even want it anymore because it had already been sitting in front of other people. To their credit, they remade it, but then we waited another 15 minutes for his food while I had already finished eating. We actually watched another couple sitting next to us get so frustrated because their order was completely forgotten. After waiting forever with no food and barely any acknowledgment, they eventually just got up and left. Parking is super easy as it's in a plaza and shares a big lot with other businesses. They had a special menu, so I'm not too sure what is and is not part of their usual menu, but this is what we ordered: 1. Baltimore Crab Cakes (comes with 2): we were pleasantly surprised as it came with a side salad; the crab cakes themselves were not dry at all and came with a good amount of crab. Delicious, 5/5 2. Heirloom tomato and stone fruit salad: one of the things they pride themselves on is sourcing their ingredients locally and sustainably. You can really tell with this dish that all of their ingredients are really high-quality and fresh. The stonefruit was super sweet. The price ($18) was a bit high for the portion size, so this was a 4/5 for us. 3. Crab & tonnarelli: really good cook on the pasta; my husband is really picky on pasta that's overcooked, but this came to us perfectly al dente. There was a good amount of crab as well, so we appreciated that they didn't skimp. That said, the taste was a bit one-toned and underseasoned, which is a lot coming from us since we typically complain about food being too salty. If it came with a bit more salt, it would've been one of our favorites. 3.5 (maybe 4)/5 4. Pork sisig and garlic rice: we love sisig, so we had to order it. While it was super flavorful and delicious, we couldn't finish it on the spot since it was pretty salty and we were getting full. We did take it home and cook some more vegetables into it to dilute the salt a bit. 4/5 5. Ricotta cheese pancakes: super fluffy and airy, you can tell why they need 20 minutes to prep them. Again, the fruit they used was super fresh and sweet. Loved, no notes. 5/5 Service-wise, there were some hiccups with our orders. Our salad came to us without the burrata and when we asked them about it, it took about 3-4 people double-checking their menu to confirm it actually came with burrata, then a handful more minutes to rectify it. It seemed strange to me that they were unfamiliar with their own menu. Our pork sisig dish came out much later than every other dish and our waiter had to check up on it a few times, so it may have just gotten missed. There seemed to be a lot of people working in the front, but somehow hard to flag them down and get helped when we needed it. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as it was Mother's Day and I'm sure it was busier than usual. Our waiter was also gracious in comping a drink as a result of the long wait for the sisig. Overall, we'll still come back as we want to try other dishes and we do appreciate the freshness of the ingredients and their integration of vegetables with dishes, which can sometimes be hard to come by. Just wanted to provide some feedback on service in hopes they'll take it constructively.
